  • "Beautiful property with incredible views."

I went with an elderly person who had mobility problems and picked the property specifically for the views. It was not clear that the viewpoint from the patio/ balcony area was up four flights of stairs and it would have been helpful to know that. I think this should be more explicitly stated. The property is more suited to able bodied individuals. Apart from this, it was a wonderful spot to stay and explore from.

  • "“We recently returned to Dart Views for a long weekend in March having made a visit a few years ago."

This house never fails to disappoint. It’s a wonderful home from home cottage and was extremely clean and tidy. The kitchen has everything you need. The bedrooms were warm and cosy with lovely blankets and the little touches like dog bowls and dog biscuits was a bonus. I read with interest some of the reviews from last year commenting on damp smells and the place feeling a tatty. The owners have clearly taken this on board. On our visit the house had been redecorated and felt bright and airy. Any damp issues had been dealt as it smelt very fresh. Looking forward to our next visit some time in the Autumn. Fantastic views and the house was all super clean and had been newly painted. Loved the art in the bedrooms and lounge too. Highly recommend - we’ll be back

  • "We loved the views from the garden and overall enjoyed the house although there was a strong damp smell downstairs."

I would recommend that this is looked at. The microwave made a funny buzzing which I forgot to mention at checkout

Dear Mr Popple, I’m so pleased you enjoyed the wonderful views and the house overall when you stayed with us. I’m sorry there was a damp smell downstairs. We’ve had the ventilation looked at, put notices to make sure the extractor fans are not turned off and made sure that the house is fulled aired after the cleaners have washed the floors. This seems to be working well. Thanks for alerting us to this. Please do come and stay again. Warmest wishes Karen Moyse Property Owner

A few points to note Automatic Kitchen Bin Lid not working so had to remove lid to put rubbish in Unhygienic! Water leak when raining from Kitchen door lintel dripping onto wooden floor. Trip Hazard General cleanliness bit below standard. Cobwebs and dust behind beds. Noticeable when using sockets

Dear Mr Lunt, I’m so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Dart views. We’ve now put in a shiny new bin, cleaned the gutter which was causing the leak and asked coast and country to double check the house once the cleaners have been in. Thank you for alerting us to this. Please do come and stay with us again. Warmest wishes Karen Moyse, owner Property Owner

Well equipped and comfortable. Note the drive up from the town is very steep and very narrow, not for the faint hearted!

Dear Mr Pearman, I’m thrilled you liked the cottage so much. The views are quite mesmerising especially with a cuppa. I’m glad you found it well equipped and comfortable. We like to cook so really try to make sure it’s got everything. All suggestions for extra things are always welcome. The drive up is definitely steep and narrow! Dear Mrs Miles, thanks SO much for your enthusiastic review for Dart Views. And to know that you enjoy the views. I’m pleased you feel the steps are worth it! • "What a beautiful spot and fantastic accommodation."

The views from the house were amazing, but as others have said, you need to be prepared for a bit of a long climb to get up to top. But it's worth it as you get amazing views from the living room/kitchen and even more spectacular from the viewing deck at the top of the garden. The house was exceptionally well kitted out - much more so than any other holiday accommodation we have stayed in. The only downside is that there is a problem with damp in the bedrooms. There was no smell, but the pillows were often damp and in the back bedroom we discovered a puddle of water under the bed (there had been no rain during our visit).

  • "The House is in a good location for walking into central Dartmouth however up a very steep hill and/or many steps so not ideal for everyone."

The car parking pass is a real bonus as parking near the cottage is not possible. The house was extremely dusty and when it rains the water runs down to a door way off the second bedroom causing a damp smell. That said having 2 bathrooms with 2 bedrooms with 4 adults sharing is great. When the sun is shinning the views are amazing from the lounge and even better from the top garden balcony area. There are lots of nice little touches in the house i.e. tea & coffee and the wi-fi is great. Overall a good time was had by all

  • "We had a lovely stay, the house was great but what really made it was the gorgeous views and amazing terrace at the back."

If I was going to be picky I would say that the blinds could be better, especially the ones in the main bedroom as there is a street light directly outside the room. But otherwise we had the best holiday, our first as a family and our first out of lockdown, lots of memories made.

  • "Loved this place."

Lovely cottage with everything you could need. The upper patio is just brilliant for the views. We could sit there all day no watch the boats go by. Yes it’s on a hill and yes it’s tough to climb back up but we knew this and we managed. If you want a view then is the compromise! We managed to just park as near as we could, unload then we moved the car to the car park and we only used it one day - and dont forget the pass covers a lot of the car parks around the area so you don’t need to pay for more parking. We never had a fire but there were bags of logs outside the front door that you could buy if you wanted one. We were so very lucky with the weather for April- blue skies and sunshine every day - but chilly on a night so we just put the heating on. Very snug. As this house has two bathrooms it was very handy for us both to have showers at the same time.. plenty of throws, blankets and even hot water bottles for the cold nights. Lovely picture window in the lounge to look out at Kingswear and the river and out to sea. Take the road to the right out of the property and walk down to warfleet creek and then have coffee at Dartmouth Castle and do a circular walk through Little Dartmouth, walk down to Sugary cove and then back across Jawbone Hill for a spectacular walk. The only thing I didn’t like was having to ring Sykes to get the key code for the box at Coast and Country for the keys as we would be arriving after the office closed and having to hang on for about 45 mins. Why can’t we just be given the number for the office in Dartmouth instead - Sykes have to ring them so why can’t the customer.

  • "The property is in a quiet location with beautiful views and surroundings."

It has all mod cons, was warm and cozy and we especially enjoyed the couple of fires we had. Coast and Country staff were really helpful and friendly. We had a few enquiries and they were responded to very promptly. There are just a few issues with the property. There seemed to be a lot of damp on the ground floor (this may be an issue more in winter than summer), and it could have been a bit cleaner. However these were minor points as overall we had a fantastic time. We would definitely recommend it.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are so please3d you had a great time at Dart Views. We can only apologies for the small issues you encountered and have made a note of your comments. We do hope we can welcome you back to Dartmouth soon. Property Owner

  • "Everything about the cottage was wonderful."

The property itself and the location were perfect and I hope to return soon. My only complaint would be the 5pm check in which is very late. I was also told to return the keys before 10am but when I went to the office it was closed. There was also no where to park when I arrived at the cottage despite being told there would be somewhere to unload. It would be helpful if this was mentioned beforehand. Overall it was a fantastic break so thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the check in time. The reason for this slightly later time is to allow our cleaners to carry out a Covid safe clean. Our cleaners go to more than one property on a changeover day and so do not always arrive at 10am, this later time allows our cleaners enough time to get through each property before guests check in. Apologies that it was not made clear that our office is closed on a Sunday, however, we are happy for keys to be deposited through our letterbox. We will take your points about parking into account and look into this for future bookings. We are glad that you had an enjoyable break and look forward to welcoming you in the future! • "The property was OK, but with a departure time of 10."

00am (Assuming there was somebody in the property before us) and a collection of keys at 5.00pm, one would have thought 7 hours was enough time to clean the place properly. There was dust and cobwebs everywhere. The dishwasher had broken glass in the bottom. The mugs were dirty in the cupboard. There were hairs on the chair bases...blonde one's and we're not blonde or had a dog with us. Stains on the bed headboard. It put a "stain" on the weekend right from the word go. The Wifi didn't work, so if you're going to offer Prime, Apple, Netflix etc, make sure the wifi works so you can use these facilities otherwise don't profess to offer them and don't hide behind the Wifi not being guaranteed. You either offer it or you don't. Good job i had 4G, otherwise I wouldn't have received your irritating text message reminding us of what we had to do on departure - Strip the bedding down etc, etc. What 7 hours isn't enough for the cleaners to do it and don't hide behind Covid because there are plenty of other touch points that C&C haven't covered off, such as the scrappy chairs and sofa's that could have been presented better. At the end of the day it wasn't value for money.

Lots of steps up to top !! Very well equipped . The only downer is the bedrooms (especially the twin room) were damp/musty and our clothes all smelt quite musty when we departed. The location is not suitable for anybody who is unable to climb steps and slopes. Its very high up and to get into town its a short but very steep descent and likewise coming back up !!

Such a wonderful relaxing break - we will definitely be back. There were couple of things that we thought would be good for future guests...a pizza baking tray would be handy and if the big window in the lounge could be cleaned it would really make the best of that spectacular view.

  • "Just back from a wonderful two week break at this charming “upside down house” with the most amazing views of Dartmouth."

We found the property description and photos on the website spot on – so no surprises about steps to the upper terrace or parking. The house is tucked away in Above Town but unloading was fine and we easily found somewhere to park in an adjacent lane free of charge. In the second week one of the four spaces mentioned became available so we parked there which was a bonus. The house was very clean and has everything you need for a self catering break with a well appointed kitchen and a fantastic top terrace for al fresco dining with glorious views of the dart and estuary. The bedrooms were clean and very comfortable with ample wardrobe space. There are lovely personal touches such as an “honesty” system of emergency items to set you up such as tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets etc as well as a spare dog bowl and treats for our 5 month puppy we had in tow. All in all this is a gem of property and will definitely book again

  • "It would be a good if you put not for suitable for people who are unable to climb a lot of steep steps."

The cleaning of this cottage is not great, duvet covers not even buttoned up I guess thats to save time. We cleaned the cottage extremely well before we left, so I think the next person to use it will rate it as very clean, I think that's what's happening with the write up comments.I also think that you should remove the words off road parking with this cottage. Off road indicates that its on the property site. Off road does not mean park and ride, this is misleading. The cottage does have woderful views, but again the photo that sells the cottage is a bit miss leading, it doesn't tell you its up 4 flights of steps, up the cliff side! we only went up there once. There isn't anywhere suitable for dogs to go. Thank goodness a very nice man allowed us to unpack the car in front of his garage. But even then it involves quite a walk up several steps to the front door. we did enjoy our stay but once down in the town you wouldn't want to of left something behind at the cottage and have to go back!

Many thanks for your feedback, although we were concerned to read that the property was not satisfactorily presented prior to your arrival. As you will appreciate, we work very hard with our owners and housekeepers to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained, so it is very disappointing to read these comments. Your feedback has been passed on to the housekeeper/cleaner concerned. We have amended some of the wording on the website to ensure there is not confusion in the future. We do hope that you had an enjoyable holiday in spite of the issues raised and look forward to welcoming you back to Dartmouth in the not too distant future. Property Owner

However it does requi an ugent deep clean for example: lamps and lamp shades were covered in dust, loads of dirt under the bed (noticed when we used dog crate), spots of blood on kitchen floor, crockery and glasses dirty, skirting boards and stairs dirty. For nearly £700 a week we expected a higher standard.
