“Overall we loved the property, its layout and location.”

However a few negative points. We felt there should be a sliding door on the ensuite bathroom as there wasn’t much privacy. All four of us found the beds too soft, but understand this is a personal thing.

However a few negative points. We felt there should be a sliding door on the ensuite bathroom as there wasn’t much privacy. All four of us found the beds too soft, but understand this is a personal thing. There wasn’t anything to put the dirty towels/linen in and the instructions provided in the property and email did vary on this point. Also a few more bin bags would’ve been useful. However it was a great base for a brilliant time to enjoy Dartmouth and it’s surroundings, thank you!

Thank you for leaving feedback, it is very much appreciated and helps us to improve our service. in relation to your linen, there certainly should have been some bags left for you to be able to strip the beds, as well as instructions on what to do. We apologise that this was missed for your stay and this is something we will pick up with the cleaner. You will have been provided with a welcome pack which covers you for the first day or two of your stay. However, as this is a self-catering property, we do not provide anything further and so other essential items need to be purchased by guests. The other points raised will be passed on to the property owner for their consideration. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Dartmouth and look forward to welcoming you again in the future! - Sykes owner relations

The property

The Old Library is a quirky and exquisitely presented holiday home, designed and furnished to the very highest standards throughout.

The two-storey accommodation has been extensively remodeled in conjunction with Cheltenham-based Focus Interior Design to offer a luxurious retreat for two couples or a young family in a central location.

The property is set at the end of Newcomen Road and within a very short, mostly level, walk of the historic naval town of Dartmouth.

There are a number of award-winning restaurants, delightful boutiques, art galleries, cosy cafés and beautiful gardens within easy reach, as well as a range of lovely boat trips up and down the delightful River Dart from the nearby harbour front. Beautifully furnished throughout, on the ground floor are two boutique double bedrooms, both imaginatively and luxuriously decorated.

The master bedroom has a King-size bed, Juliet balcony, and en suite bathroom, whilst the similarly furnished second bedroom is not en suite but has an adjacent shower room.

Stairs spiral up to the open plan living accommodation, ‘The Captain’s Galley’ on the first floor.

This spacious and elegant area has a nautical theme and offers a wonderful environment for relaxing or entertaining, with an elegant kitchen, delightful dining area and comfortably furnished sitting room. An annual parking pass is provided for the Mayors Avenue public car park 5-7 minutes walk away (subject to available spaces) / Dartmouth Park and Ride, for one car.

This fabulous property offers an exquisite holiday home in a superb Dartmouth location.

About the location

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
