The property

Tiller Cottage is a welcoming cottage settled in the vibrant riverside town of Dartmouth in Devon.

Offering a characterful base for families and friends, with a toasty woodburning stove, leafy garden and easy access to both the coast and Dartmoor National Park.

Arrive in Dartmouth and leave the car behind as you make your way to the cottage on foot, pausing at the front door where a small view of the harbour offers a hint of the waterside setting that surrounds you.

Step straight inside into the open-plan living space, where the heart of the home unfolds before you.

Walk across the wooden flooring beneath your feet and into the sitting area, where exposed brick frames the woodburning stove, inviting you to settle in and let the warmth draw everyone together.

Light the fire on cooler evenings and sink into the sofa or armchair, while a favourite film plays on the Smart TV.

Turn towards the dining area, where a wooden table sits ready for shared meals, framed by sash windows that allow the light to drift through and highlight the period touches of the cottage.

Continue into the bright kitchen area, where tiled flooring underfoot marks the shift in space, and everything you need is set out for preparing relaxed breakfasts or evening meals after a day of exploring.

When it is time to head upstairs, follow the wooden stairs, taking care as they rise steeply.

On the half landing, step out to access the garden, offering a quiet pause before continuing up to the bedrooms.

The double bedroom provides a restful setting, where a decorative fireplace adds character and a green outlook across the plant-filled garden brings a natural, calming feel to the room.

The king-size bedroom offers a different perspective, with views stretching across the town, complemented by an exposed brick wall and built-in wardrobe, blending traditional character with practical touches.

Both bedrooms provide a welcoming place to rest at the end of the day.

Nearby, the shower room features tiled walls and wooden flooring, creating a fresh space to begin each morning under the walk-in shower.

Step outside into the enclosed courtyard garden, where you can sit among the fresh air with a morning drink or unwind in the evening, with gentle town views adding to the sense of place.

From here, and from your front door, everything you need is within easy reach, with shops and pubs just a short stroll away, the River Dart close by for waterside walks, and the beach reached within a leisurely wander.

Beyond Dartmouth, Dartmoor National Park invites exploration with its wide open landscapes, where ancient tors rise dramatically from the moor, walking trails lead through valleys rich with wildlife, and historic stone bridges and villages appear along the way, offering places to pause and take in the surroundings.

Head to Totnes to experience its lively character, where independent shops line the streets, the Norman castle stands proudly above the town, and regular markets bring together local food and crafts in a vibrant setting.

Along the South Devon coastline, follow clifftop paths that reveal sweeping sea views, discover sandy beaches where the tide ebbs and flows, and visit traditional fishing villages where boats bob gently in the harbour and time slows to match the rhythm of the water.

Tiller Cottage offers a characterful and well-placed base for discovering Dartmouth and the surrounding Devon landscape

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
