  • "Excellent position."

Our only complaint, and it is a matter or personal preference but we thought the double bed mattress was past it's best. You have to appreciate that it is an old property and is a little query. But on the whole, having been to the area many times, we would go back to this cottage.

We loved the 2 balcony's and even though the road is right below we found it a lovely peaceful place. Parking was also easy after 4pm and we never had a problem. Hosts were very helpful when we needed it in the shop below. Most places were dog friendly which helped and the views of the bay were a bonus. Excellent holiday we will be back

  • "What a lovely property, great location, facilities and views."

Very relaxing space. Loved the two terraces, especially the top one accessed from the bedrooms. Really appreciated the deck chairs to use on that terrace. We were lucky with the weather, so did spend time exploring the area and town, but also relaxed on the terraces. To be able to sit in bed and see the sea! Kitchen well stocked if you wanted to cook. Would love to return.

3adults, 1 child & 2 dogs and there was plenty of room. Fantastic views on both balconies, comfy beds, clean throughout. There isn't a designated parking spot but if you are savvy you can make use of all the free parking in the area. The main car parks are all free between 6pm-10am, a couple of free parking areas for 2 hours. Perfect base for exploring the area. Great for crabbing in the rock pools, lots to find including eels! Thank you for a wonderful stay, the welcome fudge & biscuits were delicious! Even milk in the fridge for a brew after a long drive down.

Beautiful views from the balconies. For us, the fact that the bathrooms are located on a different floor to the bedrooms was a slight inconvenience, as there are steep and creaky steps to negotiate between them. Excellent new shower. Helpful, friendly owner.

There are chairs to sit out on the balcony and watch the world go by. Well stocked on arrival (included tea/coffee//pint of milk, washing up liquid, kitchen roll & 2 tea towels, shampoo, body wash and hand soap at all sinks). Whilst dog friendly once in the lounge with a large uncarpeted area, the initial flight of stairs up to the apartment is quite a steep one. What we didn’t realise is Lynton is a significant vertical climb from Lynmouth so the Londis/Costcutter shops are not just around the corner!

The highlight of this property is definitely the view over the river, harbour, sea and beyond, with 2 terraces to take advantage of these wonderful views. • "Lovely accommodation with sea and harbour views from the balcony."

Well furnished and comfortable with shops, cafes and pubs all within a short walk. There is a small supermarket in Lynton easily reached via the cliff railway or a short drive up the hill. We didn't have any problems parking in either the carpark at the end of the esplanade or on the road outside (Parking restrictions allowing) but it might be more difficult in peak season. Only criticism would be that the bathrooms could possibly do with updating, but that didn't spoil our stay and we would happily stay here again.

We spent two weeks exploring the area around Lynmouth and Lynton on foot, walking each day along the coast path or in the wooded valleys, with stunning scenery in every direction. Old Lyn Cottage made the perfect base, comfortable and well equipped, it had everything we needed for our stay, though the bathrooms are a little tired. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and there was a lovely welcome pack of local goodies when we arrived. The apartment is above the owners' shop selling cider and fudge, and next door to an excellent chip shop. What could be better?!

  • "We loved our stay at Old Lynn Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in North Devon."

The cottage is clean, the beds are very comfortable and we loved curling up on the comfy sofa at the end of a long day walking in the amazing countryside nearby. Lynmouth is a beautiful small seaside town, nice and quiet and very picturesque. We visited Ilfracombe, Tintagel and Bude during our stay and were very happy with our choice of Lynmouth. It's easy to ride the funicular railway up to Lynton where there's a few more shops, or walk up the river to Watersmeet. Our favourite pub in Lynmouth is the Ancient Mariner, the food's great and staff are friendly. If you're driving to Lynmouth from the west along the A39 via Minehead, prepare yourself for Porlock Hill. With a 1 in 4 gradient on hairpin bends it's... an experience, not suitable for some vehicles. All the roads out of the village are very steep, but that was part of the fun. We'd definitely stay at Old Lynn Cottage again. Thank you John for our wonderful holiday.

  • "The front door was a clue would some varnish be too costly?"

Look behind the toilets-disgusting feel the dust on skirting boards and dado rails, the ring around the bath was the limit. Inside the microwave had not been cleaned, crumbs from previous visitors in bread bin! How about sweeping the balconies and painting or varnishing wood on balcony. People cook with steamer pans now for healthy cooking. Finally, get under the bathroom sinks and clean the ruddy waste traps I had to sit on the toilet and look at the dirt , this is the worst accommodation we have ever had in Lynmouth, last time I saw taps like those on the bath was in a national trust property. Come on Sykes do your job and inspect these places properly or adjust the prices to account for less than 2 star rating.
