  • "6 Pinewood was very good value, however I have marked it down due to the condition of the single mattresses."

    Our party was 3 adults, my wife and I had the double bed which was acceptable, the mattresses on both single beds were very tired with the springs very evident, my sister who weighs less than 9 stone, slept on top of of the second duvet. We feel there should be “ Very hot water notices” adjacent to the taps. A mirror in the smaller bedroom would be a very addition!.

    Dont think guests should be asked to strip beds before leaving this is a job for the cleaners.

  • "We had a lovely time, the property has everything you need, albeit it is a small living space and the fridge is tinny; there’s a big Tesco 10-15 min drive so no big problem."

    The 2 pools are amazing for the kids! The area has so many interesting and beautiful things to do at a really short distance. Will definitely recommend it.

  • "Let me be very clear on the outset - the degraded opinion here is down to Sykes and their handling of my query, whether the property owner is aware and decided not to respond, I still do not know."

    The property itself and the site facilities were spot on. Contrary to the other reviews, it was very clean (including the windows) and generally very comfortable for myself and my daughter. The WiFi has clearly been upgraded and every night we streamed from the smart TV with no issues. Most kitchen items were available, though it was lucky I had a cheese-grater in my van, as this was missing from their utensil drawer. The indoor pool is excellent, we often had it to ourselves - I used it twice a day. The outdoor pool is not heated and not chlorinated, as such I had diarrhea (for the first time in 40 years) after accidentally gulping some of the water during my swim. The 9am pool opening time, for me, was an issue as I like to get straight into my morning swim as soon as I get up, these were my only gripes about the site - otherwise it was clean, quiet and friendly. Checking out - there was a note to strip the beds and put the linen in the 'blue bag provided' this was non existent. As was the 'clear bag' for the towels, so I left a note to the cleaners. Onto my issue - the mattresses in the lodge are very cheap box-sprung and as such, were lumpy and noisy - I eventually found a way of sleeping on one side of the bed, luckily I was not sharing. I opened a chat with Sykes about this, who said they contacted the owner - 7 days later and nothing. Sykes closed the issue and forced me to use WhatsApp (which I do not use) - I downloaded the app, invited the number and got a reply that this number was invalid. I opened up a new chat with Sykes and 4 days later - no reply. I have returned home feeling very put out by Sykes, I will not recommend them to anybody until they respond to my query.

  • "Great location, lovely property and enjoyed the pool."

    Lots to do in the area. Only issue was that the wifi password wasn't left anywhere in the property. The reception is closed from 5pm on a Friday until Monday morning, so if you are there for a long weekend there is no-one to ask!

  • "Booked 6 Pinewood for a last minute 3 night break with our grandchildren as a treat for them."

    An exceptional find; the pics and description are 100% accurate, it’s a clean, bright, airy lodge, well equipped and superbly finished throughout. Furnished comfortably with good quality settee and chairs. Excellent spacious modern shower, bathroom and kitchenette. The site itself is very well maintained, flower boxes and lawns and No 6 is one of a circle of six units set around a silver birch tree. Very quiet and peaceful, pipistrelle bats flying at night, our grandson enjoyed sitting out watching the night sky with a telescope. There’s a superb heated indoor pool adjacent to a small car park directly opposite the lodge which was very convenient. The pool is accessible using the lodge key fob and the pool door is on a timer from 9.00 am to 6.30 pm although guests can swim till 8.00pm. We arrived a little late but a very kind lady from reception came over and let us in which was welcome on a warm evening after our drive down. Pool area is very spacious, good changing rooms and we were fortunate to have the place to ourselves most of the time. Outdoor pools were closed - seasonally I expect. Contrary to a previous review on here, the “bin store” area is very well screened and hidden, on the other side of the small road, we neither saw or heard anyone else using it. Kids played out safely and, all in all we had a very peaceful and relaxing mini break with them being their first time away without their parents. Good TV - we signed into Netflix for kids films etc. WiFi can drop out but realising we had 2 phones and 3 iPads linked, we soon sorted it ! Final point, to thank the owners for the welcome bag of teas, coffee, fudge etc- really nice high quality treats, a thoughtful touch. Would return to this site and lodge without hesitation.

    The property is unfortunately a dead spot for the wi fi main bedroom faces the rubbish bin area a lot of noise when people are dumping they rubbish shower pipe to the shower head broke metal pole that shower sits on broke water leaks from shower cubicle when shower is pointed towards the glass facing the sink no cleaning done above eye level top of wardrobes in both rooms very dusty we have experienced this every time we book a property that is run by Lyme bay holidays also no bags left to put dirty bedding into

    everything has now been rectified shower wasn't broken just needed adjustment shower tray is not leaking shower head must have been at wrong angle rubbish area is well covered by fencing & gate very little noise as only 40 lodges on whole site & people very considerate Property Owner

  • "Windows were dirty could not see out of them."

    When we had a shower it was blocked full of hair, not been cleaned for a while. To be fair we complained and two lovely people came out to us within 30 minutes and cleaned everything up.

  • "Lovely modern cosy lodge."

    Well maintained and enough space to unpack. We were 2 adults and 2 under 7s. It is a cosy lodge, but was fine for us. Very peaceful holiday park. The kids really enjoyed the pool, which was a nice temperature. Sadly it wasn't warm enough to use outdoor pools. Location great for visiting local towns, beaches and attractions.

  • "Great location on a beautifully clean site close to swimming pools which were fantastic and made the holiday - however we were very disappointed that the only playground apparatus were two swings - a baby swing and child swing."

    Plenty of green space for the children to play outside. A very safe site. The lodge was great but the double mattress was terrible, we didn’t get a good night’s sleep all week because of this. The sofa was very low and not comfortable either. No one on site to deal with problems. Lady at reception gave phone number - this should have been in the welcome pack first page. Coffee pot was broken when we went to use it - reported via the phone number - very nice gentleman spoken to and informed of problem. Site perfect for accessing everything we’d planned in East Devon children age 5 & 3 really enjoyed the holiday.
