"This hadn't been our original choice of holiday home - our original booking was cancelled by Sykes (apparently due to the owner selling the property) 5 weeks before we were due to go."
Thankfully, this one was available for the week we had planned around (perhaps due to a cancellation?) and we were relieved that it all worked out in the end. The lower rating I've given for recommending is based on this experience of being put in this position by Sykes in the first place, rather than on our experience of the holiday we had in the end.
The property wasn't the most pristine we've ever stayed in but it was still lovely, spacious and perfect for our needs - a pretty, slightly elevated location overlooking the estuary; a parking space (2, actually); a brilliant location for town shops (including Co-op with long opening hours) and restaurants; North Sands beach a little distance away but still walkable for us; close to the main road out of Salcombe for when we ventured out in the car.
Just a couple of small issues around waste. First, we were disappointed that there were no recycling facilities at all at the property. The instructions said there were some in a nearby car park but all we found was a bottle bank. We did take a lot home with us as we're not used to putting so much in landfill. The other thing was the instructions on the notice board that were very strict about putting rubbish in green bags, but our bin had been lined with a black bag and only black bags were provided in our welcome pack and under the sink. We mentioned this to the Coast & Country team when returning the keys - either the instructions are out of date or green bags need to be provided.
Overall, we loved Salcombe and had a brilliant stay at 6 Combehaven.

"This is a pleasant property in a good location."
Good parking. The flat is spacious and well equipped especially the kitchen. However we were dismayed to find that the property had not been cleaned to a satisfactory standard. This is not the fault of the owners but the cleaning company employed to clean. The flat complex waste disposal area requires more recycling facilities as they were overflowing whereas there was plenty of room in mixed waste bins. Overall the flat would benefit from some building maintenance ie. filling cracks in walls, particularly ceiling lines.

"The apartment looked tired."
The dishwasher leaked, the blind in the bathroom had mould on it and the windows were either badly washed or the glass was blown. The latter detracted from the stunning view, but the weather allowed us to keep the double doors open, so we were able to enjoy a great view.

"Property itself is great!"
Had everything we needed. Only issues were the Wi-Fi wasn’t working the first few days but then a member of the team came and fixed it. The bottom oven wasn’t working but we managed to just use the top oven instead.

"The property was as we expected because we have stayed in Combhaven apartment block many times so we know the layout etc."
However, we did think the property was a little tired, there were many cracks in walls, the laminate flooring was in a dreadful state with many scratches and marks, so a little TLC would improve the property no end. It was very well equipped kitchen wise and beds , settees, basic furnishings etc were very comfortable. One thing I wasn’t happy with was, realising when stripping the beds, that mattress and pillow protectors were not changed with the bedding. Sleeping on other people’s bedding is not acceptable to me, even in my own home I class the protectors as part of the bedding that gets washed and changed weekly! Considering COVID as well, I would have it essential to strip all bed linens?
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were pleased to read that you had an enjoyable stay here at number 6. We were only sorry that you felt the property was a little tired and in need of some TLC, we have passed this onto the owners who were saddened to learn your thoughts. Unfortunately, the laundry struggle to wash every mattress and pillow protector for every property week in and week out and therefore are washed as and when is required. We hope this did not detract too largely from what is a beautiful week in Salcombe.

"We did a lot of research on the the properties in Salcombe before selecting 6 Combehaven which I'm really pleased paid off, we thought it was excellent."
We can confirm the property has both a hair dryer and microwave, from reading past reviews these items have not always been in the property. When we booked there had been comments about the wifi, I can confirm this was working well. The property is comfortable and more than met our needs. It is depleted on large glasses which is only a minor point. I guess over the course of the season there are a number of breakages. I'm awaiting a hip replacement operation, the reason for saying this is although my mobility isn't what it should be I didn't have any problems walking back and forth to Salcombe, particularly walking back up the hill. Having two parking spots is excellent, the location is also very easy to get in and out of Salcombe.. If you are intending to eat out during your stay I would recommend you book a couple of weeks before which we did, even then only early slots were available.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were delighted to read that you had a very enjoyable stay here at number 6. We were pleased to learn that the property was presented to a high standard for you arrival. We very much look forward to welcoming you back sometime soon.

"Lovely accommodation, lovely views."
Great to have a dishwasher and mashing machine. Clothes dryer and ironing board. Very spacious for a 1st floor apartment.
A microwave would have been helpful that’s was the only thing missing!! You also get a lot of exercise with it’s steep position, we did make use of the steps as a cut through and had a rest half way for the kids to use the playpark so that was handy!!

"Very friendly, welcoming and professional service from Coast and Country Cottages."
The property is in an excellent location, is well equipped and furnished and has the bonus of 2 parking spaces. It is a lovely place to stay with good views over the town to the creek.
We liked it so much we have booked to go back in September!!
One minor thing I forgot to mention when I handed the key back was that we noticed that there was quite a build up of "fluff" in the extractor fan located in the en-suite bathroom. This might impact upon its efficiency and probably needs cleaning.
Apart from that minor issue it is a very comfortable place to stay in - thanks for your help and see you again soon.

"Great location and facilities."
Just minor issues prevent a full 5 star rating - would strongly advise having coasters/table mats to help look after dining table and furniture plus a dustpan and brush would have assisted in making sure apartment needed only minimal cleaning after departure. That apart would definitely like to book this apartment again.

Good view of the estuary. Parking for two cars, a bonus in Salcombe. Only a five minute walk into the centre. No wifi but there's a BT hotspot so it wasn't a problem.

"I think this must be newly appointed property."
It was ideal for our near year trip. The layout of the apartment is very good.
But the lack of wi-fi was disappointing. The lounge windows suffered from bad condensation, which obviously has marked the wooden floor. Plus the lack of table mats and coasters for the large glass table caused a problem at meal times. Otherwise, plenty of plates and glasses
