  • "Just got back from a wonderful weeks stay at Spicery."

    The property is bright, airy, spotless, comfortable and finished/maintained to a high standard. It really is a home away from home with added touches such as a clothes airer, throws, robes for the hot tub (which is amazing) laundry tablets, dishwaher tablets, washing up liquid and hand wash adding to the feel. There was milk, tea, coffee, sugar, homemade scones, jam and cream on our arrival. Everything worked, the water pressure was spot on and the water as hot as you wanted it. The furniture was comfortable and there is ample storage in both bedrooms, the kitchen and utility room. Sarah and Rob are lovely hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them and our dog especially enjoyed the extra fusses. Thank you so much, we hope to see you again soon!

  • "Spicery exceeded expectations and was one of the very best places we have ever stayed in for a holiday."

    The cottage was comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. Very well thought out and included a Hot Tub which we made use of. Views from the upstairs bedroom were amazing and all the patio areas outside were completely private, The cottage is conveniently located near a number of A roads. Owners were friendly and there on hand but not intrusive. Thank you for a wonderful week's holiday.

  • "Wow!! The Spicery is a great place to stay and good locationfor exploring the local area ir even furtherafield"

    . It is large and very clean and the owners (Sarah & Rob) have thought of everything you need for a great stay. To the rear of the property they have some land that is great for walking which was peaceful and our dog loved. The home made scones on arrival were a great touch after a long journey. We highly recommend The Spicery and we hope to return soon.

  • "Had a lovely week at the Spicery, there was a few things that wasn’t for us."

    We did not know that the owners lived next door and that there was an adjoining door to their house, even though it was locked their side. There was quite a big step down from the patio where the hot tub was to the garden, we only have little dogs and we had to keep picking them up and down. Lastly the road to the property was a gravel track so if you were looking at getting a takeaway, they don’t deliver. But the property itself was beautiful, cleaned to Such a high standard and they have everything you need, although an ice tray for the freezer would have been nice.

Sadly a drawback to living in the countryside is that takeaway deliveries aren’t available due to distance & since your stay, the owners of the lane have had roadworks done to increase the concrete strips along Floyte Lane. The adjoining door was left by the previous owners, I can assure you we do not have any access whatsoever to Spicery from our home at all, only through the main front door. We had it bricked up our side, when we purchased the house. We’re glad you liked Spicery, we do love what we do & hope our guests have a lovely relaxing time when they stay.   • "Spotlessly clean and fresh when we arrived."

    Really well maintained and presented. Lovely warm welcome on arrival. This property is a real gem, we wanted for nothing, even good fans in the bedrooms for the warm weather. Lovely quiet and peaceful setting. The small garden was great for our dog, a fab hot tub was a treat, plus a lovely patio area for dining. A great area at the rear of the property to walk our dog. The hosts were really friendly and helpful as they are close by. Lots of places to visit, The Donkey Sanctuary was great and very dog friendly and Sidmouth close by. We highly recommend this property.

  • "This was a wonderful place to stay."

    We could not think of a nicer place to have our 2 week holiday. The owners made us very welcome and were at hand if needed, but they weren't. The location was stunning. There were so many places to visit that were only a short distance away. We highly recommend this place and would holiday there again.

    Our week was so relaxing and peaceful, a previous reviewer mentioned the birdsong throughout the day which was especially enjoyable while relaxing in the spotless hot tub! Many thanks to the lovely owners and family, their holiday home is so clean and inviting, with very comfortable furniture and beds, plus the kichen equipment has everything you could possibly wish for. Needless to say, we have booked again for next year!

    The peace was loud. Spotlessly clean, tidy, spacious and comfortable. You are provided with everything you need for a great stay.   • "We had a lovely, peaceful and relaxing Christmas in the Spicery."

    Lovely touches on arrival - Christmas tree, mince pies, scones, jam & cream and treats for the dog. The cottage was spotless, modern and decorated to a high spec and owners were welcoming, friendly and were there if needed. The surrounding scenery was beautiful and off the beaten track. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable week away and would highly recommend the Spicery

Spicery is a charming cottage nestled in the idyllic countryside of Tedburn St Mary, Devon.

Upon entering, you're greeted by a well-equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing home-cooked meals, with an adjacent utility room housing a washing machine, a convenient addition for longer stays.

Further inside, the inviting living/dining room awaits, featuring a dining table for four, two plush sofas, an armchair, and a TV for your entertainment.

Patio doors open onto the decking, flooding the room with natural light and blending indoors and outdoor seamlessly.

Outside, the charm continues with an enclosed decking area furnished for alfresco dining, while the rear garden features a patio, lawn, additional seating for relaxation, and a hot tub, the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the beautiful Devon countryside.

TEDBURN ST MARY

Dartmoor National Park 3 miles; Exeter 7.5 miles.

Tedburn St Mary lies amidst the rural charm of inland Devon, just 3 miles from the stunning Dartmoor National Park and 7.5 miles west of the cathedral city of Exeter. The main streets of this award-winning village are lined with traditional thatched cottages, two good pubs, with The King's Arms Inn dating back to the early 1600s, and a well-stocked shop. Tedburn St Mary also offers the Tedburn Fair, held every September, stone-built cottages, a Methodist church built in 1930, a Methodist school room, which dates back from 1859, an 18-hole golf course and a monthly farmers' market. Close by is Dartmoor National Park, which is home to the Dartmoor pony and offers excellent walking, pony riding, golfing and pretty villages that are scattered amongst the dramatic landscape, plus the area has become an inspiration to many artists and writers. The city of Exeter is within driving distance and boasts beautiful architecture, theatre productions and plenty of shops, eateries and cinemas. Other attractions close by and well worth a visit are the Crealy Adverture Park, the beaches at Exmouth and Teignmouth and the National Trust properties of Castle Drogo, Killerton House and Lydford Gorge.
