  • "It was a lovely house great for our purposes."

It was very well equipped, but disappointing no secure garden space as we had dogs, however we soon got over this with walks very close by, maybe worth detailing the ease of these, up the road and through to the river an easy and pleasant circuit. It was immaculately clean.

Thank you for your lovely comments, We’re delighted that you found The Old Boat House immaculately clean, very well equipped and a lovely house. We take enormous pride in the cleanliness and presentation of the cottage and work hard to make sure everything is just right for each new arrival, so it’s particularly lovely to have this recognised by our guests. We’re also pleased you enjoyed the excellent walks nearby with the dogs. There are so many wonderful walks and places to explore around Lyme Regis, and we leave a welcome booklet on the lounge coffee table with some of our favourite walks, local recommendations and things to see and do to help guests make the most of their stay. For guests travelling with dogs or children, the cottage benefits from a small enclosed walled patio leading directly from the lounge through the bifold doors, providing secure private outside space. This is shown in our photographs and described in the listing as an enclosed patio; the property does not have a lawned garden. Thank you again for staying with us, and we’re so pleased you enjoyed the house and your time in Lyme Regis. Property Owner

  • "Had a fantastic week at The Old Boat House."

Upon arrival we found a clean, modern and fully equipped cottage, located in a nice quite location. It’s a great base to explore the beautiful surrounding area and then relax when you get back. For those that would like to know the Wi-Fi signal is very strong. The walk into town along the River Lim with our dog was very enjoyable, especially as it passes The Lyme Regis Brewery! Lorraine and Bob, the owners are very friendly and approachable, they really care that you have the best stay and that’s what we had.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We’re delighted that you had such a fantastic week at The Old Boat House and found the cottage clean, comfortable and well equipped. It’s lovely to hear that our peaceful setting provided a relaxing base for exploring Lyme Regis and the beautiful Jurassic Coast, and that the fast Wi-Fi earned a little mention too! The River Lim walk into Lyme Regis is a real favourite of ours, especially with a dog, and a stop at Lyme Regis Brewery makes it even more enjoyable. Most of all, we’re so pleased that you felt well looked after and had exactly the kind of stay we hope every guest will enjoy. It was a pleasure having you, and we would be delighted to welcome you back. Warmest wishes, Lorraine & Bob Property Owner

This property has been done with the greatest of care and attention and is a really delightful place to stay, providing an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding coastal areas. It is well designed, has the bonus of two lovely bathrooms for its 3 bedrooms and is very well equipped. We would definitely recommend this property and would not hesitate to book again if staying in the area for a second time. It's a definite gem!

  • "We read the description which mentioned the river so assumed we were lower down than it turned out to be."

We found the accommodation overall very good but the walk back from the town was hard work for us and it restricted our evenings. The house itself was very clean and well equipped but the outside space was disappointing especially as we had our dog with us and didn’t realise there was no garden. We enjoyed our time in the house but wouldn’t book again as the location is not suitable and we would need somewhere lower down the steep hill back to the property. Probably more suitable to younger families but with limited outdoor space.

Thank you for your review. We’re so pleased you found the house clean, comfortable and well equipped. Just to reassure future guests, despite its name, The Old Boat House isn’t actually floating on the River Lym! The riverside walk begins at the bottom of Haye Lane, as described. The enclosed patio is clearly shown in various photographs. It isn’t a lawn, but lovely dog walks and open spaces are just moments away. We love the peaceful location, easy access to town and private parking outside. Lyme Regis is naturally hilly, so the map and photographs shown are helpful when booking. Lyme Regis is naturally hilly and, unless staying directly on the seafront, most properties involve some form of incline. We understand this wasn’t the right fit for your walking needs, although the house and its location were exactly as shown. Property Owner

  • "Our entire family loved the Old Boat House."

It ticked all the boxes we needed. It was perfect for us, our son and his wife and their children. There were thoughtful games and activities for our energetic grandsons, a cart to take their beach gear down into Lyme, a wonderful river walk to discover as well as a fully equipped kitchen, and a comfortable lounge for us to enjoy. The bedrooms and bathrooms were a great design and layout, comfortable, luxurious and tastefully decorated with attention to detail such as different pillows, fans and small stools to make life that little easier. Lorraine was an outstanding host, from the first message wishing us a safe journey to advice on parking and planning our week she communicated promptly, and always with such helpfulness and kindness. We have had the most wonderful stay and are very grateful for everything. We would strongly recommend and hope to return in the future. Thank you Lorraine and Bob

Thank you so much for such a lovely and thoughtful review. We’re delighted that The Old Boat House worked so well for all three generations of your family, and that your grandsons enjoyed the games, activities and beach trolley. It’s wonderful to hear you discovered the peaceful River Lim walk into Lyme Regis too, it’s one of our favourite’s! We’ve tried to include the little details that make a family holiday easier and more comfortable, so your kind comments about the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and extra touches genuinely mean a great deal to us. It was an absolute pleasure helping you plan your week, and we’d be thrilled to welcome you all back for another Lyme Regis holiday in the future. Warmest wishes, Lorraine & Bob Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at The Old Boat House, the accommodation was superbly laid out for our family group and well located for spending long days enjoying all Lyme Regis has to offer."

It was great having access to the trolley, deck chairs and parasol for our beach days and quite the novelty for our son to pull it into town! Communication with our hosts was excellent; Lorraine and Bob clearly put a lot of energy and thought into ensuring guests enjoy their stays! We would certainly return and recommend to others.

Thank you so much for such a lovely review! We’re really pleased you all had a wonderful week and that The Old Boat House worked so well for your family. • "Absolutely lovely property."

Far exceeded expectations. Rentals can often be well worn, but this was like new. Beautiful house, nice lay out etc. Modern kitchen and bathrooms etc. Paintwork was spotless. Comfy beds. Nice decor. It had lots you wouldn’t expect, games in the lounge, lots of extras in the kitchens and bathrooms you normally expect to take yourself like soap, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, tea towels, dish cloth etc. Kitchen was very well equipped. Loved Lyme Regis, I’d never been before. Really unspoilt seaside town. Very picturesque. If I had to mention any negatives, at the property parking is a bit awkward and there is only one space. The lane that it is off is very narrow, but then they all are it seems. Lyme Regis itself is very hilly, so if you’re older, like my parents, or not that mobile, a more central location would be better for you, as it’s flatter nearer the sea. All said, I loved it and will more than likely go back again. It’s a real credit to its owners.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, Steven. We’re thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and that The Old Boat House exceeded your expectations. It’s especially nice to hear your comments about the cleanliness, comfort and all the little extras throughout the property. We take great pride in maintaining the cottage to the highest standards so our guests can relax and enjoy their holiday from the moment they arrive, so your kind words really mean a lot to us. Just to reassure future guests regarding parking, the private parking space is suitable for larger vehicles, including big Range Rovers and family vans. For additional vehicles, there is also free roadside parking available on Haye Close just behind the property. In fact, The Old Boat House is one of the few cottages in Lyme Regis where you can park directly outside the front door, making arrival, unloading luggage and trips to the beach nice and easy. Thanks again for choosing The Old Boat House. We’d love to welcome you back to Lyme Regis in the future. Best wishes, Lorraine Property Owner

  • "Lovely house."

Warm and comfortable. Some great artwork on the walls. Great location with a nice river walk down to the beach. Only minor issue is there is a good washing machine but nothing for drying. Could do with at least a folding clothes airer.

Hi Paul Thank you so much for your kind comments. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. I’m really sorry that you didn’t find the airing rack for the clothes. You could have texted me and I could tell you where it was stored. So sorry for that issue. We will look forward to welcoming you back soon. Best wishes Lorraine Property Owner

Immaculately clean, high quality linen, modern interior. The walk to Lyme Regis was easy, even with 3 young children. Highly recommended.
