The Old Barn is a delightful pet-friendly house nestled in the village of Stourton Caundle, Dorset.

This quaint abode boasts a pub on-site and an enclosed shared garden, making it a lovely base for families seeking a characterful base in Dorset.

Unlock the door and step into The Old Barn, a quaint retreat set alongside an owner-run pub, giving you the convenience of food, drinks, and evening entertainment just moments from your accommodation.

Make your way into the open-plan studio-style living space, where twin beds sit alongside a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, and sitting space, creating a flexible layout for families or friends travelling together.

Rustle up everything from a hearty breakfast to an evening meal in the kitchen, equipped with a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, and electric oven and hob, before pausing for a coffee at the breakfast bar.

Gather around the dining area, complete with a traditional church pew, to chat over the day's adventures before settling onto the Chesterfield sofa to enjoy an evening in front of the Smart TV.

When it is time to freshen up, rinse away the sea salt and rejuvenate in the shower room with its walk-in shower before unwinding for the evening.

The Old Barn is in Stourton Caundle, a tiny village of about 400 people.

The Manor Farm opposite the Trooper Inn used to belong to Enid Blyton.

There is a Stile Trail that starts near the Trooper and is a 2 mile walk around the local area.

The small, attractive market town of Sturminster Newton is set on the banks of the River Stour, reached via a graceful, six-arch, 15th century bridge, carrying a warning of deportation to those who may damage it! The whole area acted as inspiration for the works of Thomas Hardy, who wrote Return of The Native whilst living in the town. The region is dotted with thatched cottages, rural walks, stunning country views, and fascinating towns, such as Sherborne, with its abbey and castle, whilst the beautiful Dorset Heritage Coast is also within easy reach, making this an ideal base all year round!
