  • "The Nest is a charming, thatched 2 bedroom cottage within walking distance of Lyme Regis’ seafront, shops and restaurants."

Both living rooms and bedrooms were comfortable and the heating was effective and easy to use. The garden was a lovely surprise, providing a peaceful space to enjoy the (little) sunshine we had on our stay whilst admiring the views of the cliffs on the Jurassic coast. The kitchen is a little small and some of the equipment old (there isn’t much nonstick surface left on the frying pan) but as the restaurants nearby are great this wasn’t too much of a problem. The ‘worst’ thing was the WiFi. Having stayed in old cottages before we expected it to be problematic but even having managed our expectations it was disappointing as we could only really have one device on WiFi at a time and even then it was slow and temperamental. Definitely not a place to stay if you need good connectivity.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. In answer to your query on broadband service at the cottage, we're afraid that the centre of Lyme is still served by old copper cables which drastically limit broadband speed. We have attempted to upgrade the service but for now no upgrade is available. The good news is that fibre is due to be installed in town around the end of 2025 - no promises from the suppliers - and you can rest assured that as soon as it's available, we will be applying for a faster service. • "The property is well located but generally rather grotty."

The windows were so filthy that I felt compelled to clean them (you’re welcome). The garden was overgrown and the patio area similarly untidy. It felt like we arrived at a house that hadn’t been lived in for weeks. For the price we paid we were somewhat disappointed. I’m sorry to say this but the property really needs some love and attention.

Thank you for your feedback. These issues have been raised with the window cleaner and gardener who do attend regularly. Lovely to hear that you enjoyed the properties location, it is ideal for being close to the main street but tucked away enough to still be quiet and peaceful. Hope to see you return to Dorset soon. • "Absolutely blown away when we arrived with how perfect our holiday cottage was."

Apart from being a lovely characterful building in the heart of the oldest part of Lyme, 'The Nest' was spacious with lots of room for all our party. Very comfortably furnished -both living areas and bedrooms, the kitchen equipped with everything required and more. Great garden at the back, the weather sadly not on our side to use it much! The welcome bag of goodies much appreciated, especially the fact that so much was local products (as well as more useful necessities! Fantastic property made for a great holiday. We'll be back and for longer

  • "Great cottage, lots of character and fantastic location."

All surface areas very clean but corners, skirting boards etc less so. We did request for the sofa bed to be made up for our arrival and it wasn’t. Overall we had a lovely holiday.

  • "Lovely quirky cottage in an excellent location in Lyme."

Would say it would be a squeeze for 6 people for any more than a weekend but perfect for 2 to 4 people. The dogs loved the garden and being only a few minutes walk to the beach. The parking permit was most welcome and the goodie hamper of local produce was delicious! Very comfy beds too

  • "Beautiful, well equipped cottage in an excellent location."

Lots of space in the property and garden to relax in, and also a great bass to get out and about in Lyme Regis.

  • "The Nest was a comfortable base for our weekend stay in Lyme Regis."

However if we were to stay any longer it would have been a bit squashed for 5 adults. Having said that the bedrooms were a reasonable size and the beds were comfortable, as well as the sofa bed. The shower was excellent. The extra toilet downstairs was very useful. As our stay was in October the use of the good heating system came into its own, easy to use and it warmed up the cottage quickly . As in all the holiday cottages we stay in, we do check for any escape routes for our little dog. The garden was secure and had wonderful views. However it could have done with some general maintenance with cutting back the plants. Overall we had a comfortable stay. The cottage was central for exploring Lyme Regis and the surrounding area.

  • "Absolutely loved the accommodation and the location (proximity to town and beach was perfect for us) I only scored you down for cleanliness as I found the stove top coffee pot was filled with old coffee and mould."

(I love coffee and was delighted with the Dorset goodie bag including the local roasted ground coffee) - thankfully I found the cafetière, so all was happy in my world. What a gem. Kids delighted with the board game selection, especially cluedo. Sofa bed mattress was impressively comfy (usually they are very thin, so a big thumbs up for quality bedding!) I can’t wait to book again. Thankyou

We're so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday. Sorry to hear about the coffee pot, we will pass on your comments to the Housekeeper. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

It was perfectly situated in the town and nice and close to everything. The garden was perfect for our spaniel and nice and enclosed. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

  • "We have stayed in dog friendly cottages in Lyme for the past 8 summers and were looking forward to staying in The Nest which we had passed many times and were keen to stay there."

We were so disappointed. The kitchen was nice and had good facilities. There was one two seater sofa in the living area so the floor was an option as there were more than two of us but it stank of dog wee. The bathroom had mould on the ceiling, the blind was broken and the amount of dust on the mirrors was extraordinary. There seemed to be a damp problem through most of the cottage. The snug was fine but the cleaners seemed to have left IKEA bags out. The two single beds were the most uncomfortable beds that we have ever encountered. They were dreadful, you could feel the metal springs sticking into you as you lay there. Not much sleep was had as they were so bad. The only storage cupboard was mostly taken up with spare bedding. The double bed was ok but underneath it was full of IKEA bags, not very pretty. The garden could be lovely, it had great views, but it was overgrown. The grass can’t have been cut for a long time and there were piles of fresh dog

We are sorry to hear of your experience. The IKEA bags are used to store spare linen and consumables, and are usually kept in a cupboard or underneath a bed so as not to intrude on people's stay. We will look into your points raised about the garden with the gardener and comfort of the beds. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "We arrived at the Nest and the first thing we had to do was clean the fridge and empty the dishwasher which was not ideal."

There was no instruction manual and the Internet wasn’t working. We had to spend half of the next day getting the Internet fixed. The cottage was very comfortable and in a great location. You just need to cross the park and you are down at the seaside. It is also very close to all the shops and the High Street. The cottage garden was lovely to sit in when the Sun was out. We were able to take our dog which was great. The cottage was very comfortable and the bathroom was very big and everything worked to perfection. It was a shame that the cleanliness and maintenance llet it down.

We're so sorry to hear that the property wasn't prepared to our usual standards of cleanliness. As with the maintenance issue, we have access to a team of housekeepers and will happily attend to put things right for you as we would not expect you to spend precious holiday time cleaning. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage well equipped."

The sofa bed was very uncomfortable, it would have been okay for a child I suspect but we didn't want the children on a different floor to us.... But if you're not using the sofa bed, it's not a problem. Great location and lovely cottage with what feels like a secret garden.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the property. The sofa bed has been replaced with The Times' 'most comfortable sofa bed' for our guests to enjoy. We hope to welcome you back another time. Property Owner
