  • "We had a lovely week at Beau Hideaway."

    The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. It was a perfect place to relax with just a few minutes walk to the main street where there are 3 good pubs if we wanted to eat out and a lovely supplies store and gift shop. Cerne Abbas is a good base from which to explore Dorset. Andrea, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. Thank you, Andrea, for making our stay in Dorset that extra bit special.

  • "I have a mixed review… LOVELY area, friendly neighbours, couple of pubs a few minutes walk away and plenty of walks close-by if that’s what you like!"

    However. The good impression stopped there. There is a serious moth problem in living room, they were crawling up the walls every few hours. It’s clear it is a known issue as there were sections of carpet cut and replaced. Dusty cobwebs throughout the premises, on ceilings/walls/under bed in single room. Garden was full of weeds and windows also covered with old cobwebs. All in all our stay was worth the trips out but we were uncomfortable and disappointed with the condition of the premises.

    Hello I’m sorry you were disappointed. I would like to point out the section of the carpet that are cut out where the storage heater’s were replaced with modern Dimplex heaters . I have never had a problem with moths. I notice when I came to clean there were insects splattered all over the front room walls. I washed the walls after you. I have never had an issue with insects. It was extremely hot over your stay this has never happened before. I have never had a guest leave splattered insects. If you had contacted me I would have bought an insect repellent and dealt with the issue. Thank you for your review. Property Owner

  • "A very nice stay in a lovely cottage in a lovely setting."

    a coffee table, clock, and better pressure for hot water would have made it 10 out of 10. all in all a nice cottage in Cerne Abbas. lovely pubs and lovely shop .I would happily stay here again if the above were sorted out.

  • "The property was very clean, comfortable and well equipped."

    There was a problem with the flow of water to the basin in the bathroom. This was very slow.

  • "Bathroom- Toilet seemed a bit low, toilet seat loose, sink small and hot water flow very slow, No shaver socket."

    Bedroom 1- bed size/position does not allow entry/exit to bed from both sides. Bedroom 2- adequate Lounge - settee’s very low, number of mats on carpet potential trip hazard, table and chair’s adequate Kitchen- well equipped

    Mr Lucas I appreciate you taking the time to review to assist other guests . I personally clean for every guest so I am sorry you have been disappointed with the facilities. Currently 31 photos assist the Sykes description. The bed is positioned according to the room’s L shape dimensions.The bathroom is the size of an en suite, toilet/ vanity unit are compact with a double shower. A pump is fitted to boost pressure on hand basin. Rugs have gripper, Sofa’s are standard height from John Lewis. Property Owner

  • "This cottage was perfect for a stay in lovely Cerne Abbas for a few days as a small group of 3 people."

    The village store, the 3 pubs and the tea room were all in walking distance, as was a view of the Cerne Giant. We used the location as a base to explore southern Dorset. The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage is light and sunny. The outdoor courtyard is appealing. Would be happy to stay again.

  • "We booked this lovely cottage at the last minute when our original booking was cancelled due to 'plumbing problems'."

    We are so pleased as this was in a much better location than our original choice and the property owner had added lovely touches like leaving us some milk, tea, coffee - and biscuits! Also the location was superb in Cerne Abbas within an easy walk of 3 excellent pubs, a village shop and a tea room.

Cerne Abbas is a quintessential, picturesque village in Dorset, it oozes charm and character and was once voted as Britain's most desirable village! Dating back to Medieval times, the remains of the Benedictine Abbey, around which the village grew, can still be seen today. Today, it's well known for the Cerne Giant, the 180-foot figure of a naked man cut into the steep chalk downlands, which dominates the surrounding landscape. Local facilities abound, including three pubs and a tea room, plus the surrounding countryside is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which offers superb views and great walks. A short drive takes you to Dorchester, Sherborne and the Dorset Jurassic Coast. A truly fascinating area close to many places of interest at any time of the year.
