  • "Can't understand why people are moaning about this property as it is very comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked and the garden big enough and secure for our 3 small dogs."

My only concerns would have been the original price (being quite high and out pricing this property on the market) and I would have liked either a small dressing table or chest of drawers in the downstairs bedroom as storage is very limited (but I managed - just). My husband, daughter and I enjoyed our stay so much that we would like to return soon.

  • "Very disappointed with the garden very small my border collie couldn’t have a run, previous dog poo in the border around lawn."

Photo on website very deceiving. Welcome hamper was welcoming. Although a clean cottage there was a musty smell when you entered. Beds comfortable. Couldn’t find any open spaces around area to give my dog a run. Sorry but I won’t be returning.

  • "Lovely spacious cottage and very clean and pleasant to arrive to."

Unfortunately a few things just didn't work. TV had poor aerial so could not use, boiler stopped working and we had to wait for a new order of gas to get hot water. Most of the taps were fitted wrong so they felt like they would come off at any minute. Just small little details which made it feel a little cheap, all easily resolved which would turn it into a wonderful cottage.

  • "A lovely homely house in a beautiful area."

There was a lovely hamper waiting for us when we arrived with lots of local goodies, a lovely thought. The house is very spacious and comfortable and contained everything you would need whilst away. So many places to visit within a short drive. We took our dogs with us and there are so many different walks to do. Will certainly be returning. Definitely worth a stay.

  • "I thought the home was lovely and spacious."

It felt like a home rather than a holiday let. Apart from the heating problem, we totally relaxed there and I would definitely consider renting this property again in spring or summer. This is the first time I have rented at Christmas, and knowing now that you can go somewhere and everything is provided (except food) gives me peace of mind that I can relax on holiday with the dogs without having to take everything including the kitchen sink! :0)

Central heating difficult to understand controls recycling a list of exactly what goes in what colour bin etc would be useful as where we come from the system is exact opposite

  • "It was such a great base."

On arrival, the owner left us the most wonderful hamper and extra welcome food in the fridge! That made us feel so welcome. I loved the town and the house and the area. A really great holiday.

About the location

CERNE ABBAS

Dorchester 8 miles; Sherborne 12 miles; Yeovil 16 miles; Weymouth 17 miles.

Cerne Abbas is a quintessential, picturesque village in Dorset, and oozing charm and character, it was once voted as Britain's most desirable village! Dating back to Medieval times, the remains of the Benedictine Abbey, around which the village grew, can still be seen today. Today, it's well known for the Cerne Giant, the 180-foot figure of a naked man cut into the steep chalk downlands, which dominates the surrounding landscape. Local facilities abound, including three pubs and a tea room, plus the surrounding countryside is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which offers superb views and great walks. A short drive takes you to Dorchester, Sherborne and the Dorset Jurassic Coast. A truly fascinating area close to many places of interest at any time of the year.
