  • "Excellent cottage, very spacious and comfortable."

The quality of the refurbishment is very high. Everything worked and was easy to find.

  • "A very dated cottage, which had an old fashioned emersion heater for hot water."

This had to be only continuous to supply my family of 5 with enough hot water. On a positive note, lovely and clean. And thankful for the necessities supplied such tea and milk.

  • "Just come back from our second stay at 2 Rose Cottages and it was just as lovely as we remembered."

At 20 degrees the house was lovely and cool. Kitchen was well equipped and sofas and beds comfy. The garden had been cut back a lot since our last visit which meant more exploring space for the dog which he loved! Best thing is the location, both the White Horse pub and Litton Lakes café are walkable from the Cottage (both highly recommended) and West Bay, Bridport and Burton Bradstock (Hive Beach) are just a short drive away. We were always able to park right outside the house too. Perfect - we will absolutely be back.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our week at 2 Rose Cottage, a beautiful home in a stunning part of Dorset."

The village is full of character buildings with very friendly locals, including the four legged kind! The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable holiday, the owner has looked after this home, they have thought about everything, it's like a home from home. The only downside for us was on arrival the cottage had not been cleaned from the previous occupiers and we had to sort this out with Sykes, we had to leave until it had been cleaned. We were offered a token of a drink on Sykes whilst the problem was rectified, which it was within a couple of hours. Although this didn't give us a very good first impression, the village of Litton Cheney is so pretty with a bubbling brook running along the main street, you won't be disappointed. we would recommend the cottage if you were looking for a rural escape in Dorset, not to far from the sea and walks into countryside from the front door.

  • "This spacious cottage was exactly as described and very good value."

while not 'designer-chic' it is family friendly, homely and had everything we needed. Lots of details had been well thought through, eg an exension lead for charging a phone within reach of a bed, etc. The kitchen area is compact but well equipped, the sitting room large, and beds comfy. With lots of beautiful coastline to explore, a little lake and good farm shop near at hand, and friendly locals, it is a great place to stay.

  • "A comfortable clean and convenient cottage ideally suited to our needs with our dog."

A friendly local pub and perfectly situated to explore the area - both along the coast and also inland. The only slight drawback is no off road parking but during our visit we were able to park in a nearby lay-by which could take two cars . The other spot was taken by a local resident (we think).

  • "Lovely cottage with only minor suggested improvements: a larger TV screen would have been beneficial for the large lounge and a king sized bed would have been nice."

All good otherwise, particularly as only a couple of minutes walk from the vineyard tour and tasting.

  • "A lovely setting and fine space within the house ."

The lounge and bedrooms were comfortable as you would expect for £100+ per day. However, the ledge on the hanging kitchen cupboard is lethal. The bathroom basin waste is virtually blocked and one can only imagine what’s in there trap. The rear garden area was in an unacceptable condition and again the low level steel boxed boiler lid dangerously located with the bottom corner of it denting my forehead( I cleaned up the blood) The area was completely overgrown and untended with more dead leaves on the ground than live ones on the bushes! Nevertheless it would be remiss of me to not say we enjoyed our stay there and trust the owners appreciate my comments are made to help

We really enjoyed our stay at Rose cottage, when I originally booked I thought it was in Burton Bradstock bit it's not, however we we discovered the pretty little village of Litton Cheney with many lovely walks to take our dog on

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this lovely property situated in an idyllic quiet village in the Dorset countryside."

The cottage was comfortable, spacious and well laid out, there was a lovely welcome pack on arrival, clear instructions on how things worked and the pub down the road was a gem, run by a friendly team and serving excellent beer and food. The neighbours were friendly and helpful, and parking in the lay-by opposite the property was never a problem, always space available. We would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone wanting a chilled-out, peaceful and relaxing break.

  • "Just got back from a lovely week at 2 Rose Cottages."

The cottage is pretty, spacious and well equipped in a good location on the edge of the village with a stream opposite and a lovely pub 2 minutes walk away. There are lots of country walks nearby including a dog field just down the road. The garden was plenty big enough for the two of us to sit out in in the mornings and evenings and the dog loved sniffing and exploring all the shrubbery at the back. Nice little welcome pack and a handy 'dog kit' for washing down muddy paws! Friendly neighbour who gave us recommendations for places to visit. Comfy beds and sofa/armchairs. We could hear work at the neighbouring builders yard at the rear of the property during the week (as early as 6am some days) when the windows were open but this did not detract from the holiday. Overall a lovely stay and hope to return.

  • "This cottage is in a beautiful location and perfect for visiting the local beaches and towns."

The cottage was very well equipped and we had everything we needed. The fire did smoke out the room despite making sure the grill was properly aligned, so we had to let it go out. Maybe the chimney needs a sweep? Overall a lovely long wkend.

  • "Very good location, with a welcoming pub just down the road."

The cottage was generally clean and tidy with a welcome pack to greet us. Garden was secure enough for the dog, but could do with a little tlc. Couple of minor maintenance issues, eg, lights in lounge constantly flickering as if bulbs about to fail, and bathroom basin slow to empty, but whilst inconvenient, did not significantly detract from our enjoyment. Would certainly recommend a stay.

Travelled with elderly father so downstairs toilet and wide staircase were a godsend. Can highly recommend 2 Rose Cottages.

  • "There was a bit of a hiccup with a missing garden gate allowing our dog to get onto the road but this was resolved quickly after phoning the agent."

A new gate arrived the same day. The small garden was pleasant to sit out in, especially during a hot spell, but a lot of the shrubs - presumably chosen as low maintenance - are in need of cutting back. They reduce the useable area and create unnecessary shade. The accommodation is comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed our week at the cottage. A friendly neighbour.

  • "Really loved the location & cottage and would love to book again."

However, there were a few things , especially in the current climate that were amiss. 1. Several small bins had earbuds, wet tissue and a several used masks left in. 2. A warning with regards to the oil heater sticking out the back. As the key safe is at the back the first time you go to get the key it has no warning on it and heads were hit, as you are not expecting a big metal box sticking out!! 3. The kitchen is looking tired. 4. Builders yard at the back playing their radio at 7.30 in the morning. All the above can be sorted and the beds were extremely comfortable, plenty of room for us all and an enjoyable holiday had by all.

Thank you for your feedback. As I live in the States, there is not much I can do about the kitchen at the moment, but I have asked the housekeeper to make sure he doesn't forget to empty the bins and to put a warning sign on the boiler. I have asked the builders at the back to refrain for playing their radio so early in the mornings. Property Owner
