    Stairs a bit steep for me and sofa could do with an upgrade! But would recommend this for a lovely break.

  • "Stunning location within walking distance of 2 sandy, safe beaches, beautiful Sandsfoot Gardens, pub and Rodwell Trail (great for walkers, cyclists and joggers) and easy 20 min walk into harbour area."

    Ground floor - good utility room with extra fridge/freezer. Up a floor to the lounge/diner with amazing balcony overlooking Portland bay. Well equipped kitchen at the back. Third floor - 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds. Large bathroom at the back with walk in shower. The owner was very approachable. He rang us the day before and let us plug in our electric car. Had a plumbing issue to which he attended in minutes - hope it got sorted out! Good buses every 15 mins into town (and back) from the top of Old Castle Road.

    The house is comfortable and clean with everything you need. Two great beaches within 5 minutes walk, water great for everyone, our dog loved them. Highly recommend this, will definitely be back. *must try codfather up by the co-op great fish and chips

  • "We had received a call from the owner the day before our arrival to advise that we could check in earlier than expected."

    We also met the owner who was very friendly, helpful and informative. The View is an excellent property with amazing views (hence the name), was ideally situated for us, with the beach only a few minutes down the road and within walking distance to Weymouth using the costal path. Enjoyed it so much we are planning to return next year.

  • "Lovely stay at The view."

    The View of the sea was amazing, great to sit on the balcony in the morning for breakfast. The back garden was small but very private and clean. Perfect distance from the main harbour and nice to walk the Rodwell Trail into the harbour. Things that need a little attention is the sofa with the broken arm and also a little more attention to cleaning things ie skirting boards, tiles in kitchen. Would definitely stay again. Owner was helpful and even messaged us the day before to say we could have access anytime of our day of arrival which was helpful.

  • "First the positives."

    Comfy double bed. New white towels as well as other various items in the house such as airfryer, toaster, kettle and microwave and Stair carpet amongst lots of other items. Very well organised house . Well kept sheltered garden. Just a few things I would like to mention. Parking quite tight under cover. If you only have one car it can be parked sideways on the drive. Arm on settee has collapsed inside. A throw on the sofa had in my opinion been used by a hairy dog and was easily overlooked. Another set of dinner plates would be handy. Four isn't enough. Lastly, a big thank you to the house manager who was excellent in communicating with us and replaced a missing cafetier straight away.

  • "A fantastic property, really comfortable, well equipped, perfectly located to explore Weymouth and Portland and surrounding area and not forgetting to the mention the stunning view."

    We were made to feel really welcome with a generous welcome pack. Our dog enjoyed her doggy biscuits too. The host is easy to contact if required. We had no issues but did contact him direct to say thank you. We can definitely recommend and have already re booked twice.

  • "I had a wonderful stay at The View in Weymouth."

    The location is perfect – just a 3-minute walk to two sandy beaches and Sandfoot Gardens, and about 20 minutes on foot to Weymouth Beach and the town centre. On the ground floor, you’re welcomed by a handy utility room equipped with a fridge-freezer, washing machine, sink, and storage cabinets, with direct access to a lovely little back garden. The second floor has a bright kitchen and living room, with a balcony that offers a stunning view over Sandfoot Castle and the gardens. On the top floor, there are two comfortable bedrooms and a bathroom – ideal for a family of four. Everything was spotless and well maintained. The host was exceptionally friendly and easy to communicate with. We were also greeted with a thoughtful welcome basket filled with goodies, which made the stay feel even more special. Highly recommended – a perfect spot for a family holiday in Weymouth.

  • "The cottage was excellent."

    Lovely expansive welcome back got us off to a great start. Everything we needed was in the cottage. Plenty of room for storage of food with extra fridge freezer too. Amazing location. Close enough to the town to get plenty of steps in without needing the car. Couple of dog friendly beaches very nearby too. One recommendation would be to consider a larger double bed in main bedroom. Current one is a little too narrow for two people. Otherwise everything was perfect. Thank you!

  • "Everything was clean and fresh."

    Wonderful view of the gardens, castle and Portland Harbour from the front of the property. Cafe in the gardens resonably priced and less than a minutes walk from the front door. The welcome basket was very good and much appriciated Only very slight negatives was the double bed was too small for 2 people to sleep comfortably and the parking is more suited to a small car, we got around the parking issue by parking across the front of the property rather than in the parking bays. Overall we had a wonderfull stay and the comments above are for information only to the owners.

Dorchester 7 miles; Bridport 17 miles.

Castle Cove is a firm favourite with locals, sitting alongside the Rodwell trail area, Castle Cove Beach is usually uncrowded, and offers safe bathing from its gently sloping shoreline. There are two main beach areas, Castle Cove, new steps to the beach opened early in 2019, and Sandsfoot beach, both with soft golden sand and the vibe of the best kept secret. Sandsfoot castle is just two minutes’ walk from the beach where you will find castle ruins, pretty, award-winning gardens and a small café, offering snacks, drinks and ice-creams. Accessed off Old Castle Road in Weymouth, this area is a real treat for those who want to be away from the buzz and bright lights of the traditional Weymouth Seafront, and yet close enough to venture there when they choose. When you are on the beach you could be forgiven for thinking you are miles from town, and yet you are only within easy reach of the old Harbour and access to Weymouth town centre. If you want to know where the locals would recommend you spend your beach days, then Castle Cove and Sandsfoot beaches are it.
