Curlew is an inviting lodge resting in Leuchars, Fife.

Positioned on the owner’s working farm where stretches of farmland meet pockets of woodland, offering couples a scenic base within reach of both countryside and coast.

Pull into the off-road parking area and follow a gently illuminated pathway that leads you towards the pod, where uninterrupted fields open out in front of you and the wider landscape begins to unfold, with woodland and a larger forest nearby adding depth to the setting.

Step up onto the decking and pause awhile in the seating for two, taking in the surrounding views before moving towards the bench and fire pit, a welcoming spot for lingering as the sky softens into evening.

Step inside to find a carefully arranged interior where wooden flooring, natural finishes and warm tones create an easy, inviting atmosphere.

Make your way across the space to the double bed, positioned beside a small window that offers glimpses of the outdoors, while a floor-to-ceiling window brightens the interior and draws the landscape into the room.

Continue to the dining bench and chair, an ideal place to watch the day begin with a morning drink or to linger over an evening meal, with the kitchenette close by offering an electric hob, kettle and fridge with icebox, allowing you to prepare simple dishes and share unhurried moments together as the light shifts outside.

After a day spent exploring, step into the shower room where a walk-in shower provides a refreshing way to unwind before settling back into the main space.

As night falls, return to the decking and gather beside the fire pit, where you can sit together and take in the calm of the surrounding fields and woodland, with a shop a short drive away and a pub a little further on for added convenience.

LEUCHARS

St Andrews 6 miles, Cuper 7 miles, Dundee 7 miles.

The small town of Leuchars is set in north east Fife on the north side of the River Eden. Known for the RAF base which was established in 1920, the town also boasts what is considered to be one of the finest surviving examples of an unaisled Romanesque parish church in Britain. Built in the 12th century, St Athernase Church is in use today as a parish church. Leuchars has all the necessary amenities with a supermarket, restaurant, pub and Post Office and is ideally located close to many attractions. Pretty Fife towns such as Falkland and Auchtermuchty are a short drive away and St Andrews sits a few miles to the south and Dundee and Carnoustie sit to the north. Clearly a haven for golfers, there is also much for non golfers, such as the Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve which lies to the east of Leuchars and provides miles of spectacular forest and beaches as well as seals and wildfowl.
