    “Relaxing break!”

This was my first time going to Scotland, let alone anywhere as rural as Skye, but I had a wonderful experience! Amber’s Cottage was clean and tidy and had everything needed to accommodate myself, my friends and our dog. There is little signal on the island and at the cottage for your mobile phone and television; but this is not at all a reflection on the cottage, it was in fact a surprisingly welcome break from social media and the internet (and I’m speaking as a 26-year-old woman)! Plus, this enabled some quality time to spent with friends, distraction-free. There were a plethora of games supplied at the cottage for evening entertainment. My favourite part of this experience was standing outside in the garden, at night, with a pair on binoculars (which were already at the cottage) and looking up at the stars; I was in awe. The air is so clean and fresh, the beaches magnificent, Portree was a wonderfully quirky village within only a few miles of the cottage and close to the Old Man of Storr; we went finishing in Uig, travelled to the fairy pools and had a warm and cosy cottage to return to after a day well spent exploring. The cottage was spacious enough to accommodate 5 adults with its x2 bedrooms and a large living area, well-sized bathroom and large kitchen. I can’t wait to return and explore even more of this magical island. I will definitely be staying at Amber’s Cottage again.

The property

Staffin 1 mile.

This pretty detached, whitewashed stone cottage is in a private, elevated setting, one mile from the village of Staffin, on the Isle of Skye.

Boasting breathtaking sea and mountain views, this lovely single-storey cottage is situated within walking distance of village shops, a sandy beach and a community centre with a licensed restaurant.

This cosy cottage is ideal for a small family or group of friends who want to soak up the wonderful views from their own wee cottage, as well as being close to some exceptional mountain walks.

Amber's Cottage has two bedrooms, a shower room and a comfortable sitting room with an electric stove-effect fire, along with a spacious fitted kitchen/diner and a large porch, where you can store walking boots and coats after a day out and about exploring this wonderful island.

The impressive Quiraing Mountains form a dramatic backdrop to the village of Staffin, where you can spot eagles soaring overhead.

Just a short walk from the cottage takes you down to the shoreline and the sandy beach, from where will see some remarkable footprints left by dinosaurs that walked across the sand here some 165 million years ago!

The Isle of Skye has so much to offer visitors and the capital town of Portree provides a great selection of lively pubs, shops and restaurants.

The world famous Dunvegan Castle is also well worth a visit, as is Skye's only Distillery at Talisker.

For the wildlife spotter, whether on land, in the sea or in the air, there's never a dull moment with eagles, whales, deer and otters to spot in the area.

Your charming cottage is a welcome base after a day’s walking or sightseeing.
