  • "A superbly designed and equipped house."

    A lot of thought and care has obviously gone into the facilities, including providing the essentials (tea, coffee, milk, loo paper, etc.) that are very welcome immediately after a journey. The onsite car parking was very handy and essential in this area. The location is a very short walk from Shanklin High Street, the Chine and several eating places. Would very happily stay there again.

  • "Bay Tree Cottage is well located."

    It is around five minutes' walk from Shanklin Old Village and Shanklin Chine. Five minutes in another direction and there is the Town Centre. The Railway Station is 12-15 minutes' walk. The esplanade about 15-20 minutes away. The house is spacious and well appointed. There was just two of us in a house for 2-4 people. It would still be roomy with four people in residence. We had a very comfortable week there.

  • "This property was much better than the photos show."

    Well appointed, extremely clean and well decorated with everything you could need for a short stay. My 93 year old mother was in the room with the en-suite and thought a handrail would be useful to go down the three steps. Overall excellent property and would recommend.

However we will discuss with the managing agents how the photographs and description can be changed to more accurately reflect the holiday home that greets guests when they arrive. Your suggestion that a handrail at the rear bathroom entrance would help older guests is very wise and we have already made arrangements for one to be fitted during the next maintenance period.   • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bay Tree Cottage."

    It’s spacious, well-equipped and perfectly clean. The owners have gone the extra mile to make guests feel comfortable: a box contains chargers for your mobile and toothbrush; there’s notepaper and pens in the desk drawer; there’s a chest of games in the living room. It’s close to shops and pubs and a three minute walk to a great Indian restaurant! We would definitely book again.

  • "Lovely house, conveniently located with plenty of storage and functionality."

    Nice additional touches such as local recommendations, books and games. Management co and owner very responsive to questions and our request for some larger pans. Had a great week here, would highly recommend.

  • "Bay Tree Cottage was delightful."

    It was very clean with many personal touches. The kitchen was well equipped and there were cleaning products available. There was a welcome package which was appreciated after a long journey. The house was very comfortable and there were little extras included such as charging leads. The house is located on a quiet street but very convenient and only a few minutes walk into Shanklin. The only aspect that could be improved was the garden. However I would certainly recommend and stay at Bay Tree Cottage again.

  • "Clean and tidy property."

    We had a pleasant stay here. Master bed was not long enough for me but I got used to it after a few days. Washing machine is on first floor and when in use the whole house seems to vibrate. There was no laundry basket, which would of been useful, and not enough pegs, but we made do. The parking is only wide enough for one modern family car, which was fine for us. Location is nice and quiet. It's about a 20 minute walk to the beach. We recommend taking the lift. For food we recommend the village inn, which is a 5 minute walk left out the front door. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

    Thank you for your review. It is very helpful to have guests remarks as we do seek to listen to helpful comments and make changes where needed. The bed size in the rear bedroom is a standard UK double bed and as such is the same as any other double bed. The washing machine has been located on the first floor in order to make room for a full sized dishwasher in the kitchen which we feel provides guests with a greater level of convenience. If the machine vibrated when it was used it was probably due to being unevenly loaded. We have now provided a laundry basket. Thank you for pointing this out. There is a sufficient supply of clothes pegs but it appears that a previous visitor left some in the incorrect place under the sink. The parking is wide enough for two cars. We know this because we have lived in the property ourselves and parked two cars (one a large 4X4) on a daily basis. We agree that the Village Inn is a good place to eat and would mention that the Sunday lunch menu is second to none. Most importantly, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

The town of Shanklin on the Isle of Wight is a traditional seaside resort, sitting in a sheltered, sunny bay on the south-east coast of the island. Shanklin and Sandown offer all the right ingredients for a great summer holiday, with long, safe, sandy beaches and loads of family attractions, such as a zoo, pier and fairground, plus shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs. The older part of Shanklin, known as Shanklin Old Village, is set slightly lower than the town, where the road winds between traditional thatched cottages, tea shops and charming gardens and parks. Explore Shanklin Chine, a dramatic gorge with a waterfall tumbling through lush plants and mossy boulders. At the top of the cliff is the bustling High Street of shops and the grand Victorian theatre, at the bottom there are cafes, shops and amusements along the suntrap esplanade and sandy beach. Shanklin is great starting point for numerous coastal and inland walks (with the option to return using the local bus network). The rest of the island, including Sandown, Godshill, Blackgang Chine and The Needles, is all easily accessible.
