Well placed for families and friends seeking time by the coast, with the beach and everyday amenities conveniently close by, this family-friendly retreat makes an excellent base for exploring this popular corner of Kent.

Pull up outside Fernleigh and leave the car on the roadside before making your way through the gate and into this handsome Edwardian terrace.

The sense of character is apparent from the moment you step into the hallway, where high ceilings and original features hint at the property's heritage and create a bright, welcoming first impression.

The living and dining room provides a lovely setting for spending quality time together.

Sink into the sofas with a favourite programme after a day on the coast, gather around the dining table for leisurely evening meals, or draw open the patio doors and let the fresh sea air drift inside.

Just beyond, the kitchen is thoughtfully arranged for self-catered stays, allowing the cook of the group to prepare everything from hearty breakfasts to family suppers with ease, while the breakfast bar offers a relaxed spot for a morning coffee and a chat before heading out for the day.

Venture upstairs and you'll find a single bedroom overlooking the garden, an inviting spot to settle down with a book before bed.

The family bathroom invites you to start each day with a refreshing shower or unwind with a soak after exploring the coastline.

Continuing through the first floor, a spacious double bedroom enjoys views across the garden, while at the front of the house the master bedroom showcases original features and a bright bay window, creating an attractive place to wake each morning.

A TV adds an extra touch of convenience, while a cot, highchair and stairgate make the property particularly suited to guests travelling with young children.

Step outside into the enclosed rear garden.

With a lawn, patio and outdoor furniture, it is a pleasant place to enjoy an alfresco lunch, watch the sunrise with a coffee, or relax while younger guests play nearby.

A handy shop is just around the corner, a welcoming pub can be reached with a gentle stroll, and the beach lies within easy reach for days spent beside the sea.

Margate itself offers plenty to enjoy, from discovering the famous Turner Contemporary with its inspiring coastal art exhibitions, browsing the independent shops and vintage finds of the Old Town, or enjoying traditional seaside fun along the sandy shoreline.

There is also a lively music scene, live music events can be enjoyed at Dreamland, as well as Olbys wine bar and many pubs around Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate, while the reopenning of the Winter Gardens in April 2027 is sure to bring in many fantastic performances.

Nearby Broadstairs provides its own coastal charm, where visitors can spend time on Viking Bay, wander the clifftop paths with sea views stretching into the distance, or explore the town's connections to Charles Dickens.

In Ramsgate, stroll around the impressive Royal Harbour, admire the striking marina lined with boats, or uncover local history within the fascinating Ramsgate Tunnels.

For memorable days out further afield, Canterbury can be reached within an hour and rewards visitors with the magnificent Canterbury Cathedral, medieval streets filled with independent shops and cafés, and relaxing river punting trips through the heart of the city, the Marlowe Theatre is well worth a visit for anyone wanting to take in a show.

Animal lovers can head to Howletts Wild Animal Park, home to remarkable conservation projects, roaming gorillas and one of the largest collections of rare primates in the country.

Alternatively, spend a day at Walmer Castle, where colourful gardens, historic state rooms and coastal surroundings combine to create a rewarding visit.
