"We enjoyed our week long stay at the house, not least due to the excellent weather!"
The house is in a great location & provided plenty of space for our family and was generally fine. As always, there were a few minor grumbles rather than complaints. No bbq tools, only one oven shelf, no chairs for outside seating - other than a wooden table with benches.

"A very nice stay, beautiful surroundings."
Sadly we didn’t use the hot tub because it was too windy.
Three minor issues, we couldn’t find any egg cups.
Plug missing in bathroom wash basin upstairs front bedroom.
We felt the towels were too rough, for our liking.
Otherwise a nice place to go on holiday.

"Fantastic location and lovely home
We would have prefer to know their was mattress protectors when we stripped the beds."
Stained mattresses are best not to be seen when asked to strip your beds.
The settees look lovely but are past their sell by date and so uncomfortable we sat mostly on the dining room chairs !
We are glad you liked the house and location.
Sorry, unsure what you mean regarding the mattress protectors, we never ask our customers to strip the beds.
Apologies the settees did not meet your requirements, they are not past their sell by date and were expensive and are of extreme high quality (Duresta)
We are pleased you found the IKEA dining chairs comfortable .

"We had a fantastic family long weekend holiday with all 9 of us together."
Great location (although a little tricky to find first time, Google maps wants to take you to the cottages which is not the same place). All bedrooms good size and beds very comfortable. Well stocked kitchen. Maybe one more toilet would have been nice. Hot tub was a major success, used every day. Football field and beach nearby was excellent. Car parking great. Heating control was very challenging to work out and needs simplifying or much better instructions. Would definitely book again if we can get a similar value deal next time. Thank you very much for our wonderful family memories! :)
Thankyou for your kind feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay , we have since carried out major renovations and improvements to Coastguard House, by adding g additional en suite bathrooms , a new kitchen and extended living room and would love to welcome you back in the future . We note your comments regarding the heating control and have since addressed.

"A few small issues around the property."
A hose had been left running that flooded the garden and we didn't realise for a couple of days. There was a part of the upstairs tap missing but it still worked. Quite a lot of cobwebs on lights in dining area. One of the bifold doors wouldn't open - possibly broken. Lots of steps, one painted black by downstairs bathroom that we tripped over. But lovely location, comfortable beds, good parking spaces, hot tub was great.

"A lovely location, couldn’t have been better."
A lovely house, could have been a better with attention to some details as others have mentioned.
There needs to be another shower for the number of people the house can accommodate.
The downstairs bedroom with decking had an awful smell of drains which clearly needs some attention, not pleasant for sleeping on a hot night.
Unfortunately we couldn’t get the induction hob to work and the delivery of frying pans weren’t suitable for the hob.
No hot tub towels provided, which were promised but didn’t arrive.
Such a shame as the house and it’s location is really lovely
Thankyou for your comments, Coastguard House has since had major Renovations carried out by way of additional en suite bathrooms, a new kitchen and extended living room.
We note your comments regarding the towels and pans.
Unfortunately during your stay the rear drain had blocked , if we had been made aware at the time we could have rectified. Southern Water dealt with the issue within an hour when reported .
We are pleased you liked the location .

"Although we enjoyed our stay, as the location was amazing and the accommodation was roomy I would list the following points that need attention
Kitchen
Water left in kettle, which also needs descaling and crumbs left in toasters."
There was no salt or rinse aid in the dishwasher so I texted the owner, Wendy, to ask for some and also towels were not available for the hot tub, even though in the folder left for us by the owner, told us to only use these in the hot tub. The cleaner came the next day with these items. There was only one small frying pan, which also had seen better days.
Otherwise the kitchen was large and ok.
Living Room
This room was very dusty and had cobwebs. There was dust and dirt around edges of wooden floor and foot marks on it too. The settees were very old and worn out and very uncomfortable and need replacing. The patio door windows were extremely dirty. The patio doors also were hard to lock at times.
Bedrooms
Downstairs bedroom was spacious and light and airy but there was dust and hairs in the drawers and very dirty patio doors again.
The upstairs bedrooms were also light and airy and spacious. There is ample hanging and drawer space. Lovely views.
Upstairs shower room
Needs renovating. Paint peeling off walls. Shower had black mould on it and shower glass doors were marked with water. Toilet had dark brown stains in it.
Downstairs bathroom was spacious with large bath and other than toilet not being cleaned properly, was great. No toilet brush available for cleaning.
Walls up the stairs are marked and could do with repainting. Carpet had large mark on it under radiator upstairs what looked like water had leaked on it.
The garden could do with some general tidying up with weeds growing through the stones.
I think attention needs to be made to the general cleaning of the house but also some maintenance to the areas I have mentioned.

"Although we enjoyed our stay and the location was great there were some negative aspects to the house."
At the cost of a two night stay of over£1700 I would have expected everything in the place to be pristine. I found quite a lot of sticky and dirty marks in the kitchen and the cup cabinet smells of damp. There is damp in the kitchen and flaking paint on the walls and ceiling. The blind in the large front bedroom was broken and would not fully wind up thus obscuring the great view ( my husband did remove and repair the blind). Also the garden could have done with a bit of TLC.
The sofas were very uncomfortable and worn and there was a strong smell of sewage when you had the downstairs bedroom door open. What could be an amazing house was let down by lack of attention to detail. Sorry to be so negative but when I have paid this amount of money I do expect better value.
We have addressed the issues you have raised . Apologies on this occasion, this is not our normal standard . We are pleased you liked the location

"When it rained on our last evening there The kitchen ceiling sprang a couple of ..."
When it rained on our last evening there The kitchen ceiling sprang a couple of leaks in the corner on the right hand side just as you enter the kitchen from the hallway, so maybe needs looking at before it gets worse, also caravan two doors down caught fire on new years evening and we hosted the families that it affected by helping them over the fences and into us until the fire brigade got it under control, very scary at the time as the wind was very strong and causing the fire to spread very fast in the direction away from us but had the wind been in our direction the danger would have been far worse especially with the caravan sight behind us So we assume the fire damage will be a bit of an eyesore for anyone due to stay there soon Our new year went a bit different to plan but it was one we definitely won’t forget for a long time, we had intended to see the new year in in the hot tub but missed out on that one for obvious reasons And then the wind refused to drop over our last two days there the time my husband and l had set aside for just the two of us having some alone time and use of the hot tub having packed our children and grandchildren off home just didn’t pan out but never mind it was still a great break away

"I booked Coast Guard House pretty last minute for my dad's 60th birthday (I had been let down by another property on a different website) and it was perfect, exactly what I was looking for and more!"
We were a group of 10 adults plus one small dog and at no point did we feel on top of each other or cramped together. Bedrooms are really spacious (with the exception of the bunk bed room) with extremely comfy beds. The view from the house was lovely and even better from the hot tub in the garden! There's also a gate at the bottom of the garden which leads you directly to the beach. Ideal location as well, half way between Herne Bay and Whitstable. Would definitely stay again!

"Perfect retreat for a larger family."
Well equipped and comfortable. Great views and easy access to sea front. Hot tub was a great hit! Only downside was one shower not enough for 8 adults when you want to get out early in the day.
Very attentive and thoughtful owners. Loved the drawer of games and puzzles, though we had such beautiful weather they weren’t needed.
Easy walking distance to Herne Bay and Whitstable along the wide paved seafront. Very pushchair/wheelchair friendly.
Would definitely recommend.
