  • "Lovely clean accommodation, very well equipped with beautiful views."

A small suggested improvement for the elderly or those less mobile would be a grab handle and slip proof mat in the shower but the lack of it should not be seen as a negative comment.

Good morning and thankyou for your comment. There is a slip proof mat for the en-suite shower but not for the main bathroom. I will ensure there is one for both. Kind Regards Helen Meloy Property Owner

The cabin is comfortable with lovely views of latrigg and skiddaw. Some recommendations for visitors: A meal at the 17th century pub " the pheasant" is a must A walk into keswick has 2 ways the nicest being along the river greta through Fitz park Take a visit to ashness bridge and surprise view For paddle boarders/boaters etc use kettlewell national trust car park for launching early or late as busy Market days are Thursday and Saturday

  • "Very well equipped and clean property."

Beautiful setting and within easy walking reach of Keswick and road network. There was only 2 of us staying in a 3 bedroom property because we needed a walk in shower which was perfectly adequate. If there was 6 staying, there would be a problem with storage as the wardrobes were used for storage by owners.

Good morning Thankyou for your feedback. The wardrobes only contain additional bedding including duvet, pillows and additional linen. There is an ironing board, seat pads for the outside chairs, iron, hairdryer and drying maiden in the main bedroom. All the above items are for customer use and not storage by the owners. Hope this answers your querey Regards Helen Meloy Property Owner

Great property and location on site. Very nicely presented. Thanks for the laundry and dishwasher product. Saw a really cute red squirrel playing right outside one morning. Enhanced by some unbelievable weather. Walked 40km per day - didn’t use the car once. Many thanks. P & H

! Would rate this a solid 9/10 ! Cannot pick a single fault other than the main door is stiff “swollen wood” Don’t even consider it just book !

Good morning Thomas Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay. Thankyou for your kind words and I agree that the door is stiff. It looks as though it swells because of the sun on that side of the lodge and will wait to see what it does in winter time before making any adjustments. I appreciate the feed back. The only thing that possibly needs replacing is the bulb in the outside light by the front door as it is very dull and does not light the steps when dark.

Thank you for your review and for bringing to our attention the bulb needs replacing. We will be sure to address this and look forward to welcoming you back soon. 14.12.22 We have just replaced the outside light to a dual downlight so that it lights up the door and steps to the lodge. • "The location is perfect for Keswick and surrounding areas along with the very quiet site."

The lodge is well equipped however it was below standard for cleanliness and maintenance considering the premium price we paid. When we arrived the en-suite bathroom light wasn’t working, the owner quickly resolved this but the following night the main bathroom light stopped working. We didn’t want to have our holiday interrupted a second time so notified the owner prior to leaving so it was fixed for the next arrivals. We also found dirty underwear under the bunkbed, rubbish behind the bedside unit and crumbs under the settees. The main bedroom mattress was too soft for us so we had a terrible weeks sleep and bad backs. The bunkbed mattresses were so worn you could feel the bobbles through the sheets with no mattress protectors on. I informed the owner of these directly as I didn’t really want to leave a bad review on the website, the response was that these would be looked at the next time they visited but I got no apology which is the reason for me now leaving this. Not impressed, won’t be returning and if it was my lodge I’d put the effort in the maintain it and be grateful to people paying towards its use.

Hi Sarah Thankyou for the feedback. All feedback is valued and drives improvement which is good. The bunk room mattresses are not so old and I cannot feel the bobbles mentioned. Also the mattress in the main bedroom has previously been reviewed as very comfortable and I have received many comments on guests having goods nights sleep but I guess everyone is different. I hope your backs are better. With regards to the item of clothing under the bunkbeds and wrapper behind the bedside cabinets I pulled out the furniture and returned the item of clothing to the previous guest and ensured that there was no more items behind any bedside cabinets. I have also informed the cleaner of the fact that the mattress protector was not on one of the beds. All mattress protectors are on site in the lodge so the cleaner must have missed that particular bed. I have asked her to be more vigilant going forward. All bathroom lights now fixed. I can only apologise for the fact that the light went off in the bathroom on your visit. Again thankyou for your frank review. Please do not be put off from visiting the lovely Lade District because of your stay in the lodge. Even if you do not wish to stay again in mine the lodges are really lovely on Burnside Park and would recommend any if you needed me to. Kind Regards Helen Meloy Property Owner

  • "The Fold was a wonderful lodge."

Had everything needed for a break in the lakes. Nicely located too. Well equipped kitchen, and clean throughout. Comfy beds. If only we could organise better weather - but that’s what you expect in the lakes, so you just get on with it. Loved it and would recommend. What would I like more of? A coffee machine (type advertised so you can bring your own pods) An extra couple of gin glasses and a few more cups & plates in the cupboard.

Good afternoon Thankyou for your feedback. We have replaced all the glasses in the lodge with wine glasses, tumblers, prosecco glasses and gin glasses. Hopefully next time you visit you will see further improvements. Many thanks for your feedback Property Owner

We spent so much time just sitting on the verandah watching sheep, birds, cattle and hill climbers. So handy for Keswick and the shoos too.

  • "The lodge was lovely, however the mattress were very soft."

There was an ironing board but no iron. Two of the blinds couldn’t be pulled up and we couldn’t find the code to the internet - our mobile phone reception wasn’t great, so being connected would have been great. But over all we had an excellent stay- thank you.

Good afternoon Thankyou for your feedback. Unfortunately the iron had gone missing and I wasn't informed about it until I read the review. The blinds have been replaced and the lodge has been refurnished. The reception can be sluggish at times and have put a booster signal in the lodge so hopefully this will help Kind Regards Helen Meloy Property Owner
