  • "This was a lovely house, with lovely views."

We certainly plan to stay at this house again!

  • "Great holiday accommodation."

The views from Windrush are amazing and we spent every morning and early evening just watching the sun and clouds on Skiddaw. It's a really comfortable place with everything we needed. We also appreciated how dog friendly it was. The location is really good in terms of being able to walk from the house, get into Keswick really easily (walking or in the car) and getting to all the wonderful things the Lake District has to offer.

Great location and access into Keswick or surrounding walks. Fabulous views from the property and everything we needed there. Would definitely recommend Description was accurate

  • "We have stayed in a lot of cottages over the years and this is one of the best."

Very comfortable and warm and everything we needed for the week. It’s the extra touches that make a difference such as a packet of biscuits and some dishwasher tablets. We will definitely stay there again if possible. Thank you very much for your kind hospitality.

We've just returned from a very enjoyable 7 night stay at Windrush, there was 6 of us in total, there was plenty of room, everyone enjoyed their week, they had catered for everything inc a little welcome pack which was very much appreciated, and least but not last the views from the house are amazing, I enjoyed sitting on the bench just outside with my morning coffee, we'd definitely recommend and we would definitely go back, thankyou for a pleasureable stay

  • "We would recommend this property but the recent increase in price of all properties make these all less value for money."

Also minor items such as Christmas tree in place but lights not working and front outside light not working, required In winter months as no street lighting.

Nicely decorated and furnished. Well equipped and clean. With the most stunning view of Skiddaw. Well worth a visit and we hope to return.

  • "House was clean and in great location with wonderful views."

Open fire photographed and discussed in your description of property did not exist. This was very disappointing as it was a cold wet week in October and we were looking forward to cosy nights round the fire.

Thank you for your feedback and glad to hear you had a great week at Windrush. Unfortunately the fire photographed was deemed unusable due to the Chimney Flue before we went LIVE with bookings. The owners have since put in place an electric wood burner to try and gain the cosy atmosphere a fire would bring. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous views from the front windows."

Such a same that the towels/ bedding had been washed in some scented products, not great for people who react to artificial perfumes. The sunroom was very handy to come into after a walk, though we were lucky that we had no rain, so did not get the full benefit.

  • "Fantastic house in perfect position."

Quiet cul de sac with superb views but only a short walk away from Derwentwater and a stroll from Keswick. Loved it !

  • "The Cottage is an ideal location for visiting the Lakes, just a 5 minute walk from Derwent Water and the village pub and an easy 20 minute walk to Keswick."

If you are taking a fluffy 4 legged friend it is ideal as there is a field alongside the river directly opposite the house if needed. The house itself was ideal, very comfortable and clean with wifi, and facilities for sitting in the garden. We would definitely stay here again.

  • "We would love to visit this cottage again but can not see how you can justify put the price up from the £725 paid this year to over £1200 for the same time next year."

We have used Lakelovers / Sykes / Heart of the Lakes for many years and feel that you are showing no loyalty to regular customers. In the past we have had no hesitation in recommending your cottages but would think twice at the inflated prices.

The property

Windrush is a homely three bedroomed semi-detached cottage, located in a quiet cul de sac in the pretty little village of Portinscale, just a few minutes walk from the shores of Derwentwater and a mile from the market town of Keswick.

Its is elevated giving it everchanging views across the valley depending on the time of year.

The scenery of the north western Lake District is just beautiful and Buttermere Valley is only a short drive away.

There are numerous walks from the door the lake on your doorstep. To the front of the cottage there is a pretty garden and a driveway with parking for two cars.

On opening the front door you’ll find a bright sitting room with great view and this follows through to the dining area.

Relax here in front of the open fire or indeed enjoy a meal with the family.

The shaker style fitted kitchen has everything you need and this leads to the conservatory, a lovely place to sit and relax with a good book or the weekend papers. Take the stairs to the first landing, which offers stunning views of Skiddaw.

Choose from three bedrooms.

To the front is the master bedroom with king size and enjoys the beautiful.

The second can be presented either as a super king or twin bed and the third is a double.

All are complemented by the bathroom with bath with shower over and WC.

An additional WC is located on the ground floor. Steep steps climb the garden to a raised decked viewing platform and summer house which is a lovely retreat on a summer’s afternoon, the garden is enclosed and 'dog proof'.

To the side of the property the garage is available for the secure storage of mountain bikes and the washing machine and additional fridge freezer.
