About the property

Pow-Wow Shore Cottage, a delightful late Victorian terraced property, overlooks the stunning shoreline of the Solway Firth at the village of Powfoot, close to the Scottish town of Annan.

This welcoming accommodation, carefully finished in an eclectic blend of modern and Victorian styles, offers a wealth of near-by outdoor opportunities, making it a fine choice for adventure-filled breaks.

Admire stunning coastal views before heading inside; once indoors arrive at a bright and cheerful sitting room, dominated by a period fireplace housing a wood-burner as well as a TV, DVD player and a sound bar, making it a superb relaxing spot from morning through to evening.

Step through into a lovely dining room where a splendid table and matching welsh dresser are enhanced by a cosy electric log-effect fire set into a tastefully restored fireplace.

Adjoining is a charming kitchen, along with a utility area, which together provide the modern appliances needed for a comfortable stay.

Take the stairs to a stylish, fresh first floor where you will find Pow Wow Shore Cottage's three immaculate bedrooms.

Two host double beds and one features a single.

Two of the bedrooms enjoy magnificent coastal views, a wonderful sight to wake up to.

Prepare for your relaxing or adventurous days using the cottage's pristine family bathroom which offers a shower over the bath.

To the front of the property you can enjoy the sunshine in a peaceful garden; it overlooks one of the more breathtaking Solway Firth views, making this an idyllic spot to sit and relax.

Close by, the historic Royal Burgh of Annan, boasts a selection of amenities, including a range of traditional shops, many family-run, as well as a museum, cinema, swimming pool, riverside park and walks and a range of sporting facilities including a league football club and successful rugby sides.

Slightly further afield is the lively market town of Dumfries, noted for cultural activities, an historic theatre, shops, eateries and attractions dedicated to a famous resident, Scots Bard Robert Burns.

Also close by on the border is the internationally famous weddings mecca of Gretna Green.

Meanwhile, only a short hop into England, is the Roman city of Carlisle, a regional shopping and visitor centre.

About the location

Carlisle 19 miles

The near-by Royal Burgh of Annan, featuring the site of a 12th century motte and bailey castle and an ancient harbour undergoing a phased restoration, lies on the banks of the River Annan in east Dumfries and Galloway. The area is steeped in history and was once the site of Roman camps and the birthplace of famous writer Thomas Carlyle. Each year on the first Saturday in July, Annan celebrates the Riding of the Marches in honour of the Royal Charter bestowed by King James V. The festival includes a large cavalcade of horses and riders inspecting historic boundaries on land and the Solway sands, while also featuring parades, massed pipe bands, competitions and sports. Annan is capital of Annandale and Eskdale which has a number of distinctive small towns, picture-postcard villages and hamlets, plus a beautiful unspoilt coastline with rugged shores, beaches and hidden coves. Visit imposing Caerlaverock Castle, a little to the west, or in the other direction take a tour and a tipple at internationally famous Annandale Distillery at Annan. Close by is the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) reserve at Caerlaverock, sometimes featured in the popular BBC TV Autumn Watch programmes. Guests can easily marvel at the majestic architecture of the abbeys at Melrose and Jedburgh, visit the northern Lake District or historic Hadrian's Wall and perhaps take in the romance of famous marriage capital Gretna Green. Also why not explore the 'wild west' country frequented by the notorious Border Reivers or some of the haunts of Scotland's national bard Robert Burns?
