  • "Beautiful cosy cottage."

Tastefully decorated throughout. Thoughtful Easter touches made it even more special. Thank you. Spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly wish for. Comfortable sofas and extra comfy beds with gorgeous linens. It’s the best night’s sleep we’ve had in any holiday accommodation. The owners are really friendly and approachable and left us a lovely welcome pack including treats and brand new toys for our dogs. Thank you! Lakes and coasts on the doorstep. Wastwater is magnificent. Breathtaking. Seascale is beautiful and Mawson’s ice cream is delicious. Drigg is another beautiful beach and sand dune spot. Quiet and peaceful. Everywhere is dog friendly. We’ve loved our stay and didn’t want to leave. We would definitely like to return.Thank you again.

  • "A superb holiday cottage."

It is very comfortable with lovely soft furnishings, bed linen and towels. Well fitted out kitchen including an air fryer. Lovely big smart tv and good internet connection. The courtyard is a sun trap and has great outdoor furniture. The location of the cottage is 500 yards from Gosforth which has lovely restaurants and a local bakery. The A595 road runs outside which takes you the length of the western Lake District. Golf available locally at St Bees and Eskdale. The owners are always contactable if required and are so welcoming to guests. Would highly recommend.

The property

Benstead Cottage is a delightful abode, lovingly restored and brimming with character, perched in an endearing location on the outskirts of the heart of Gosforth in Cumbria.

Perfect for families, friends, and their canine companion, this cottage offers an idyllic base to explore the coast, and is encompassed by the delights of the Lake District National Park.

Off-road parking greets you on arrival, before stepping into the kitchen offering a contemporary design, yet keeping with the charm of the property, and is fit with everything you need for a self-catered stay.

Afterwards, the living/dining room beckons you to unwind on the two three seater sofas, with your favourite film on the Smart TV.

Or, why not enjoy dining alfresco in your quaint courtyard, a sun-soaked spot perfect for leisurely meals amidst the occasional birdsong?

Gather around the dining table set for six where you can plan your itinerary for the days ahead after dinner.

Rest up for another day of adventure by ascending the wide stairway, where you’ll find three beautifully appointed bedrooms, each offering stunning views of the countryside and charming village, a perfect backdrop to wake up to each morning.

The king-size bedroom is enhanced by exposed wooden beams and original windows, carrying through the home’s timeless charm.

The double bedroom, also featuring original window beams, and the snug twin, are equally inviting and thoughtfully designed to unwind.

Freshen up in the sleek shower room, before heading into the local village of Seascale to stock up on your essentials at the local shops.

Stop for refreshments in the country pubs, or dine out at The Wild Olive or The Lion, the Lamb and Gosforth Hall, Kellbank when you don't feel like cooking.

Just a short drive or long and leisurely walk with your pooch will lead you to Seascale where you can enjoy the sounds of the sea and a beach-side walk and mawsons ice cream parlour and coffee shop with amazing sea views.

Railway enthusiasts will love a day at the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, while history lovers can spend the afternoon exploring the ruins of Ravenglass Roman Bath House and the grand grounds at Muncaster Castle.

Be sure to take advantage of your surroundings in the Lake District National Park, with a trip up Scafell Pike if you're feeling energetic, or with a day of watersports at one of the many lakes including Wast Water, Buttermere, further afield, Ullswater, Coniston or Windermere.
