  • "What a fantastic weekend we had!"

Greeted with a little welcome pack containing biscuits and a bottle which was a very nice touch. Briefly chatted with Daisy and she was lovely! The cottage is lovely and clean, perfect for what we were looking for. The views are amazing, especially when we walked through the private valley - it was a frosty morning with beaming sunlight, glorious! Nothing better than jumping in the hot tub when it is freezing outside! We have struggled with finding something to suggest to enhance our stay however, a fire guard would be very beneficial, especially with a little one who loves to look and shout at the fire! In addition, potentially filling the pot holes in on the drive in to the property, i feel a smaller car may have issues with the changes in level. We will definitely be back, absolutely loved our stay.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review — we’re absolutely delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your weekend. It’s lovely to know the welcome pack was appreciated and that you enjoyed the cottage, the views, and the walk through the valley — it really does look magical on a frosty, sunny morning. And we couldn’t agree more, there’s nothing quite like the hot tub when it’s freezing outside! Thank you also for your helpful suggestions. A fire guard is a great idea, especially with little ones, and we’ll be looking into this as a priority. We also appreciate the feedback about the drive and will review the potholes to see what improvements can be made. We’re so pleased you had such a memorable stay and truly appreciate your thoughtful comments. We’d absolutely love to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kirkland Howe Cottage over Christmas."

Was perfect location for a cosy and quiet getaway for myself and my partner. We really liked the fireplace and the full equipped kitchen made it easy for us to do our own cooking. The highlight was the hot tub which made it extra special with the sound of the waterfall just outside the cottage. Also a great base for exploring the Lake District, lots of beautiful spots just a short drive away. We had an issue with a leak on ceiling but this was quickly resolved the same day with no further problems! Only downsides to property was the lack of a wardrobe for hanging clothes. There was a chest of drawers but this was filled with bedding and towels. The bathroom was very cold as there was no heating. It made having showers quite uncomfortable and no extractor fan meant the bathroom was constantly damp and cold. It was also a shame that there was quite a lot of dog hair on rugs and cushions. We are aware this cottage allowed pets but as non dog owners the hair and smell was quite noticeable. Aside from these issues we would definitely recommend this cottage and had a very enjoyable stay! Thank you

ARLECDON

Whitehaven 6 miles; Cockermouth 10 miles; Keswick 22 miles

Frizington is a small rural village in Cumbria on the western edge of the Lake District National Park. The village is known for its lovely 18th century church and it's tasty fish and chip shop. Frizington was historically a collection of farms and houses, but due to mining opportunities in the area, it is now a unified village with three churches, a pub, a pizza shop, a post office doubling as a general store, a primary school and a library. Towards the coast, you can enjoy the marina at Whitehaven which is bustling with shops, bars, eateries, museums and has a train station and golf club, or you can explore Saint Bees Head Heritage Coast which is a clifftop nature reserve and a great spot for birdwatching and walking trails. Alternatively, head into the Lake District where you can challenge yourself to climb Scafell Pike (England's highest peak) or spend a day in one of the lovely countryside villages, such as Nether Wasdale or Ennerdale Bridge which both offer rivers walks, pubs serving food and scenic views. Also in the area, you can take a walk around the ruins of Egremont Castle, enjoy a National Trust tour of Wordsworth House, or take a thrill seeking adventure at Go Ape Whinlatter. Frizington is a great base for enjoying the sweeping Cumbrian coastline and the breathtaking Lake District.
