The attractive rural village of Lazonby is situated on the edge of the Eden Valley and North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The River Eden meanders through the bottom of the village and this area is famous for canoeing, trout and salmon fishing together with climbing, walking and cycling. Between Lazonby and Armathwaite is the Eden Gorge, one of Cumbria's best kept secrets which is well worth a visit. Lazonby has a good selection of amenities including a church, two pubs, a supermarket and a post office. There is also a seasonal outdoor swimming pool. The railway station which is part of the Settle-Carlisle Railway line offers a scenic day out.
