  • "The cottage was immaculate, very comfortable and warm."

Every possible accessory was available. The hosts were extremely helpful, even to the extent of offering a rescue service in the event of failure to complete a cycle route!

  • "The owners of this cottage Christine and Russell have thought of everything you could think of to make your stay a comfortable and pleasant stay."

We were met on our arrival by them and also on our departure as well as making contact during our stay. The cottage is immaculate and comfortable. We enjoyed having breakfast in the garden room watching the birds darting around. We saw woodpeckers, barn owls, all sorts of tits, and peregrine falcons to name but a few, rabbits chasing around in the field opposite and the 2 ponies we named nip and kick due to their behaviour. All in all we had a fabulous stay at meadowside cottage and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we are ever in the area and will definitely recommend to our family and friends

Highlights are the garden and summer room with lovely views and wildlife to observe. Many nice towns and villages both locally and slightly further afield. Ideal for walking and relaxing. Cottage information is really helpful. Owners meet guests on arrival with further useful information and live a few miles away. Very comfortable bed in large bedroom with plenty of storage space. Kitchen very well stocked - including welcome pack. Would imagine lounge to be really snug in colder weather due to large real fire. Road outside is very quiet and easy to park on. Very much hoping to return.

  • "Wow what an amazing place to stay!"

I have stayed in lots of cottages in Allenheads and this is by far my favourite. Christine & Russell couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. They even left a little welcome sticker book for my children on their beds which they loved. The cottage is beautiful, cozy and kept to a very high standard. Everything is immaculately presented and very clean. So many little touches that make this place amazing like the slippers on offer if you need them, surplus of blankets for wrapping up and reading your favourite book by the log fire, kitchen with every utensil you could ever wish for, beautiful garden room and fire pit area. The beds are very comfy and warm too. Allenheads is a beautiful area of natural beauty with lots of walks and things to do nearby. Meadowside cottage is the perfect place to stay and explore the beautiful countryside during summer or winter months and I can highly recommend it. We will definitely be coming back again xx

  • "We have stayed in a lot of excellent cottages and this is possibly the best so far."

Characterful yet wonderfully spacious, beautifully and tastefully furnished and modern fittings. A lovely peaceful location - nice to lie on the sofa and watch the rabbits gallavanting on the hill across the very quiet road, or sit in the garden with the faint sound of the river. The garden room in the back garden is a great spot to chill out too. Christine and Russell have thought of everything that might improve your stay, with great ideas and little touches all around the place - I won't share all of them or it might spoil it for you. Appreciated having Netflix too. They also make a point of welcoming you and sending you on your way which I thought was a very nice personal touch. The area is great for walking and cycling. Everywhere we wanted to go was within a half hour drive which felt very manageable on the almost empty roads. Great holiday which made us want to move there!
