  • "We have stayed in a lot of excellent cottages and this is possibly the best so far."

Characterful yet wonderfully spacious, beautifully and tastefully furnished and modern fittings. A lovely peaceful location - nice to lie on the sofa and watch the rabbits gallavanting on the hill across the very quiet road, or sit in the garden with the faint sound of the river. The garden room in the back garden is a great spot to chill out too. Christine and Russell have thought of everything that might improve your stay, with great ideas and little touches all around the place - I won't share all of them or it might spoil it for you. Appreciated having Netflix too. They also make a point of welcoming you and sending you on your way which I thought was a very nice personal touch. The area is great for walking and cycling. Everywhere we wanted to go was within a half hour drive which felt very manageable on the almost empty roads. Great holiday which made us want to move there!

  • "Everything was provided and of the best quality."

It would've been nice to have blackout curtains in the front bedroom to allow a little longer sleeping time. Otherwise faultless!

  • "An excellent property immaculately presented with quality fixtures and fittings."

Very friendly and helpful owners who have clearly gone out of their way to make sure persons who stay at the cottage have everything they need to have an enjoyable holiday. The property is literally packed with information regarding the area and what you can do, additionally, the owners thoughtfully provided us with a list of events happening in the area that week. Highly recommended, we would be delighted to stay here again- Bob & Wendy

We had a great stay at the cottage and have even tried to book again twice in the past year since our visit. Unfortunately booked! Furnishings and kitchen items were all well kept and new. Which made our stay like a home from home (no old frying pans here!). Plenty to do int he surrounding area and the views are breathtaking.

  • "This a delightful cottage, the interior has period features, it is more spacious than many cottages and the kitchen and bathroom facilities are clean, well equipped, and modern."

It is warm and cosy Our hosts were charming and attentive. A welcome hamper of coffee, milk, butter bread, eggs meant that we could have arrived late without worrying about breakfast on a Sunday in the wilds of Northumberland! And was well placed for those wilds...lovely walks all around and a nice old pub (not serving food) within walking distance. We had a great week and would heartily recommend this cottage

  • "We had the most lovely break at Meadowside Cottage."

It was perfect in every way - impeccably clean and beautifully furnished with comfortable beds, fluffy towels and a well-appointed kitchen, with all the equipment/utensils you could wish for. The weather was wonderful, so we were lucky enough to eat outdoors most evenings and enjoyed local sausages from the butchers in Allendale on the BBQ. If you want a break in a tranquil and picturesque setting, with the benefit of being able to stroll to the local cafe for a morning coffee, this is the place for you. We would love to return one day.
