  • “Lovely stay at the Cells with my husband this week.”

Perfect launch pad for this corner of the dales/Lancashire - we hiked Ingleborough (one of the three peaks, up the road), visited white scar caves, explored lots of lovely little towns (Kirkby Lonsdale, Settle, Hawes etc) and did the beautiful waterfall walk too. Ingleton is itself is lovely, has a little outdoor pool we enjoyed to swim in, easy walk into town and enjoyed the local bakery at the bottom of the road! ...

Ingleton is itself is lovely, has a little outdoor pool we enjoyed to swim in, easy walk into town and enjoyed the local bakery at the bottom of the road! The apartment itself was tastefully decorated. With ear plugs, the cockerel was not a problem (my husband managed without!). Kitchen is small but has all the basics you’ll need for simple meals. Fiona was helpful and easy to contact - Thanks for having us! Jess and Robbie

The property

The Cell a cosy wing of a former Court House, offering ex-cell-ent ground floor accommodation.

Featuring an open plan living room with feature window, cosy woodburning stove, a well laid out kitchen and dining area.

From the living area guests are invited to walk through the original prison door to the two bedrooms.

The main bedroom features a lovely kingsize bed with wrought iron bedstead and the original jail window, quite an interesting feature transporting one to a bygone age.

The single bedroom is cosy and warm and both bedrooms are served by a modern shower room.

From the moment guests walk through the door, the historic feel comes to the fore, with lots of lovely features including exposed brick walls, modern panelling and high ceilings combined with modern furnishings with the wonderful history of this 17th century cottage.

A perfect holiday cottage you will want to come back to year after year!

About the location

INGLETON

Bentham 2.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 6 miles; Settle 12 miles.

Nestling under Ingleborough, one of the famous Three Peaks, on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the attractive village of Ingleton offers a good range of shops, pubs and places to eat. There's also a year-round climbing wall, as well as a seasonal heated outdoor swimming pool in a beautiful riverside setting. The attractive village centre has narrow winding streets centred on a tiny market place. The village's main claim to fame is the superb Waterfalls' Walk, while the well known White Scar Caves are just over a mile away. An excellent location from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
