Mason Arms really good pub for atmosphere and great homemade food. Cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. Multi fuel burner combined with central heating meant the cottage was warm and cosy all the time. Not far to Penrith and the Lakes for days out so ideal base for the holiday.

  • "The property was perfect, the welcome hamper was very generous."

The owner was quick to check my query about feather free pillows and duvets (I am allergic to feathers) and a problem with the central heating was sorted within half an hour. I would certainly recommend this property and wouldn't look anywhere else if I wanted to stay in the area again.

Thank you for your positive reply. Your more than welcome to come and stay with us in the future. Anne & David Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay at Station View."

The cottage was in perfect order, looked like it has just been re-furbished and the owner left a very generous welcome pack. Location was great for local walks and the nearby pub, served real ale and good food, so we couldn't ask for much more. The cottage has great heating, hot water, wi-fi and an Alexa with access to music streaming and radio. We owners were super-friendly and even provided a couple of onions when we were short for a recipe on the last evening. Thanks for that! We'll hopefully be back. Happy to recommend a stay to anyone.

There was a generous selection of items as a welcome pack. Thank you. 2 Station View is in a small village not far from Appleby and is in a great position to explore the Eden Valley as well as the Lake district and east to Barnard Castle and Richmond in north Yorkshire. I am happy to recommend the cottage and would be pleased to return to it in the future.

Within driving distance to a lot of lovely little villages and also not to far to travel by car to Penrith Carlisle Kendal and the Lakes. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners who were very welcoming, the welcome pack on arrival is a lovely touch. We would 100% recommend the lovely cottage and we will hopefully return in the near future. Elaine & Tony Piercy Chris Beamish.

The welcome hamper from the owners was a lovely touch and very much appreciated, we did meet the owners and they were a lovely couple who gave us advice on places to visit etc , the pub at the end of the road is nice and does lovely food, which they will also do as take away for you if desired, also a few nice walks you can do in and around the village.

Such a friendly neighbourhood too. Lots of places to get to within a few miles and further. We enjoyed a local hike up Murton Fell which provided amazing views up in the clouds. • "A really lovely little place."

We had a short two night stay here. Initially booked as a base to have a few days away visiting the surrounding area. It was just me, my husband, father in law and our 5yo daughter. Our only disappointment was that we didn’t plan a day just to enjoy the cottage! Very comfortable, warm, cosy and very clean. Pleasant decor. A real little home from home. A really kind welcome hamper.. tea coffee etc, eggs, bacon, milk.... a fresh loaf and homemade chocolate cake! Such a kind thought. Well equipped kitchen. Beds were very comfortable and nice crisp linen - all those little touches had been thought of. Will definitely be booking again ... for longer next time. Thank you.

About the location

Penrith 14 miles.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. With the delightful Ullswater and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.
