  • "A beautifully decorated and furnished cottage, spotlessly clean and a real credit to the owner."

The hamper of goodies and milk were much appreciated. We would recommend a meal at the Masons Arms which is less than 2 minutes walk and serves excellent food.

Property was excellent! Accommodation was very clean and had everything you need including a lovely welcome hamper. Ideal for a family break of 3 generations. The property is perfectly placed for Northern Lakes and West Yorkshire outings. We visited Low Force Waterfalls, Ullswater and Pooley Bridge. Had full day out exploring Silloth and the Cumbrian West Coast. David, the Host, was extremely helpful and considerate without being intrusive. Teenage grandchildren appreciated the games compendiums and dvd player. We all enjoy sitting out in the evening, unfortunately the rear patio area was not very private. I would highly recommend Station View to anyone looking for good quality accommodation in a lovely small village with excellent transport links.

Mason Arms really good pub for atmosphere and great homemade food. Cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. Multi fuel burner combined with central heating meant the cottage was warm and cosy all the time. Not far to Penrith and the Lakes for days out so ideal base for the holiday.

  • "The property was perfect, the welcome hamper was very generous."

The owner was quick to check my query about feather free pillows and duvets (I am allergic to feathers) and a problem with the central heating was sorted within half an hour. I would certainly recommend this property and wouldn't look anywhere else if I wanted to stay in the area again.

  • "We had a great stay at Station View."

The cottage was in perfect order, looked like it has just been re-furbished and the owner left a very generous welcome pack. Location was great for local walks and the nearby pub, served real ale and good food, so we couldn't ask for much more. The cottage has great heating, hot water, wi-fi and an Alexa with access to music streaming and radio. We owners were super-friendly and even provided a couple of onions when we were short for a recipe on the last evening. Thanks for that! We'll hopefully be back. Happy to recommend a stay to anyone.

We had a short two night stay here. Initially booked as a base to have a few days away visiting the surrounding area. It was just me, my husband, father in law and our 5yo daughter. Our only disappointment was that we didn’t plan a day just to enjoy the cottage! Very comfortable, warm, cosy and very clean. Pleasant decor. A real little home from home. A really kind welcome hamper.. tea coffee etc, eggs, bacon, milk.... a fresh loaf and homemade chocolate cake! Such a kind thought. Well equipped kitchen. Beds were very comfortable and nice crisp linen - all those little touches had been thought of. Will definitely be booking again ... for longer next time. Thank you.

About the location

APPLEBY-IN-WESTMORLAND

Penrith 14 miles.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. With the delightful Ullswater and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.
