    “A really lovely little place.”

    We had a short two night stay here. Initially booked as a base to have a few days away visiting the surrounding area. It was just me, my husband, father in law and our 5yo daughter. Our only disappointment was that we didn’t plan a day just to enjoy the cottage! Very comfortable, warm, cosy and very clean. Pleasant decor. A real little home from home. A really kind welcome hamper.. tea coffee etc, eggs, bacon, milk.... a fresh loaf and homemade chocolate cake! Such a kind thought. Well equipped kitchen. Beds were very comfortable and nice crisp linen - all those little touches had been thought of. Will definitely be booking again ... for longer next time. Thank you.

Each bedroom has been designed with a refreshing colour palette and benefits from ample storage for all of your holiday essentials during your stay.

The interior is completed by the superb shower room, where you can enjoy a refreshing shower after a long walk within the countryside or relish with a relaxing soak within the ground floor bath tub.

If you are visiting during the summer months, spend time on the rear patio area or make the most of the spacious shared lawn area to soak up the sun.

A leisurely stroll will bring you to the local pub, which serves a superb dining menu offering something for all tastes and ages.

Alternatively, venture a little further into the town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, where you will be delighted to find a good selection of pubs, eateries and shops.

Walkers and cyclist will be delighted to find the Cumbria Cycle Way and the Pennine Way within close reach, offering a superb day out with spectacular scenery to enjoy.

Alternatively, hop onto the train which takes you to Settle on the historic Settle-Carlisle line, where further picturesque scenery can be enjoyed.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. Visit Appleby in June and experience the colourful spectacle of the three hundred-year old Horse Fair. With the delightful Ullswater and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.
