  • "Stoneleigh is an outstanding cottage set on the edge of Muker meadows with absolutely stunning views of the meadows and hills surrounding them."

    The garden is so pretty with all the flowers and lovely to sit in watching the many bees and butterflies which visit daily. The cottage is maintained to an excellent standard and very very comfortable - wish it was ours! Our hosts, Dave and Sheila, are so people friendly, accommodating and helpful - being totally local they were very knowledgeable regarding the area, where to eat and about life in the dales in general. Lots of information, books, games etc available in the cottage. Upon our arrival, there was a plate of homemade biscuits on the dining table and a little bottle of milk in the fridge which we very much appreciated. Excellent parking. Kitchen well equiped with quality crockery and utensils. Bathroom had a great walk in shower. Lounge had comfortable sofas. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean, well decorated and everything in it was to an excellent standard and felt very homely. Cannot fault and would return tomorrow!

  • "A lovely, warm, comfortable cottage which was really well equipped."

    This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. The location was perfect with beautiful walks from the door and the local pub provides good food. Dave and Sheila, the hosts, are very friendly and helpful and the delicious welcome biscuits and milk in the fridge were greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "We had a lovely stay at the cottage, it was warm and cosy despite very low temperatures outside."

    Kitchen had everything you could require. Good wifi signal Lovely pub Amazing walks to Gunnerside and Keld right from the doorstep. Hawes not.far away, lots of places to eat and walks there. We would love to stay again and didnt want to come home.

The property

Stoneleigh Cottage is a nicely-presented, picturesque cottage located in the quaint village of Muker in Richmondshire.

Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales this property offers a rural and relaxing retreat for families and friends.

Inside this abode you'll find a pleasant kitchen/diner area with everything you need to cook up your meals and have family time around the dining table.

Then let the food settle in to watch a movie in the warm and cozy sitting room.

When the sun is out, make use of the front patio to dine alfresco or wake up early and sit with a steaming cup of tea or coffee to watch the sun rise.

When sleep calls, head upstairs to rest in either a super-king or double bed, then wake up the next morning and take a refreshing shower to get ready for the day.

In the beautiful village centre of Muker, you'll find Muker Village Store & Teashop where you can stock up on essentials and enjoy a delicious breakfast or afternoon tea, and on the evenings you don't feel like cooking make your way to Farmers Arms pub for a heartwarming meal,once visited by the now King Charles III, after visiting the famous Swaledale Woolens next door.

You can also visit the village's The Old School Art Gallery & Craft Centre with its displays from local artists and for some local history head to Muker Literary Institute.

Being located in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales, nature-lovers will never run out of stunning walks and hikes to go on; start with Kisdon Force where you'll be able to spot the beautiful Wain Wath Force waterfall, then hike down to Cotter Force for another breathtaking waterfall sighting and why not stop for a picnic at the scenic Buttertubs Pass?

Drive down to the lovely market town of Richmond and explore Richmond Castle, a well-preserved fortress that offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside, then after a stroll along the River Swale, take some pictures at the stunning Richmond Falls, catch a show at the Georgian Theatre Royala and end the day with some delicious Italian cuisine at La Piazza.

Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Muker is a village and civil parish at the western end of Swaledale, one of the Yorkshire Dales, in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated within the district of Richmondshire. From the late 19th century, Muker witnessed an increasing number of visitors and holiday makers, and today the village boasts many walking opportunities, during the months of May and June the village is extremely popular with tourists gathering to view the famous wild flower meadows, with a selection of public footpaths in Upper Swaledale. Muker also hosts a village shop, as well as an art gallery, craft shop and a café within the old school building. Originally the Vicarage, the Muker village tea shop, retains much of its 'Olde worlde charm' today. A Park Information Point for the Yorkshire Dales National Park can be found at the Muker Village shop. The village has one church; the Parish Church of Saint Mary, a Grade II* listed building. The River Swale runs parallel to the village, with Kisden Hill offering a charming backdrop.
