“The property is a beautiful conversion in an outstanding location and certainly lives up to expectations, a full Sky package is a most welcome bonus.”

Settle is an interesting place to visit with plenty of shops, pubs and cafes. There are plenty of local walks and famous tourist spots such as Malham Cove, Ribblehead Viaduct, and Skipton Castle are within a short drive. The nearby pub, (The Craven Arms) is excellent, with great food and beer, if you need a good Sunday dinner you will need to book a table. There are two minus points to mention, first it is stated that the property has a slow WiFi signal, the week we were there there was no WiFi signal at all, to some people this fact could be important, secondly is although the kitchen is well equipped, the saucepans and trays are in poor condition and well past their use by date, they need replacing, again this is important to people who do not wish to eat out every day. On the whole this is a great property in a great location, we loved it.

Holly Dene Cottages

Rathmell 1.4 miles. A pair of outstanding semi-detached stone barn conversions, in a secluded location amid beautiful rolling Dales countryside just few miles from the lovely market town of Settle. These fully-renovated conversions are set over three storeys, and offer high class fixtures and fittings throughout, perfect for a romantic or family break. The grounds are spacious and the children will love the meadowland and watching the horses grazing in the nearby field. With a host of scenic walks from the doorstep, guests can enjoy quiet strolls through meadowlands, down quiet country lanes and for more experienced and energetic guests there is of course the famous Three Peaks challenge. The Settle Loop is a bridleway which can be walked, cycled or enjoyed on horseback. For those less inclined towards the great outdoors, there are many sightseeing activities in the area. Visit the Trough of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or head into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park with its famous limestone crags and the unending dry stone walls. Locally, the Courtyard provides an excellent Bistro, tea room, award-winning cheese and showrooms with locally-made furniture. Settle is a perfect Dales village with a thriving community, excellent old pubs, a central square with weekly market and access to the not to be missed Settle-Carlisle railway. A little further down the valley, Skipton, host to the 2014 Tour De France, offers a great day out with its Norman castle, canal trips and award-winning high street. A great holiday destination to get away from it all and indulge in country living at its very best!
