  • "My husband and I booked a week away with my mum-in-law and her friend."

The accommodation was just right 4 us. However I would like to provide some constructive feedback: The welcome touch of a bottle of prosecco and biscuits was a nice surprise, there were only 2 flute glasses on the table and we were a party of 4 (which they already knew) so it was a little awkward when I couldn't simply correct this by getting 2 more flutes from the kitchen cupboard because there wasn't any more? The food recycling process wasn't available and this approach wasn't familiar to us as our local council don't yet do this. I had to ask a local if we could just throw all our food waste in the outside bin provided. It was at this point we realised that compostable food waste bags had to be used and none were provided so we had to buy some. Although we had access to a dishwasher, not even a couple of dishwasher tablets were provided under the sink. We thought this was just a bit mean? Considering the price we'd paid for the week, we also thought that the toilet paper could have been better quality instead of the cheap ones provided? Again, just something to consider as all the previous Sykes Cottages accommodations we've booked had much better quality supplies provided. We did have a nice time overall however, as we've always used Sykes Cottages for the purpose of taking our family/friends away, our consensus of opinion was that this experience could have been better. I've also taken pictures of a couple of cleanliness points too if you'd like to see those.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. We are really pleased to hear the accommodation suited your family, and we are grateful for the constructive points you’ve raised. We are sorry about the missing flute glasses — that should have been fully stocked for a party of four, and we will now add extra sets so this doesn’t happen again. We also appreciate your comments about the food‑waste system; Morecambe’s recycling rules can be unfamiliar to visitors, so we are updating the welcome information and will ensure compostable bags are always provided. We have also upgraded the toilet paper and restocked dishwasher tablets so future guests have a more comfortable experience. Thank you as well for mentioning the cleanliness points. If you’re happy to share the photos, We'd really appreciate it so we can address them properly. We are glad you had a nice time overall, and we truly value your honesty — it helps us keep improving. We'd love to welcome you back for a smoother, even more enjoyable stay. Property Owner
