  • "Very clean, lovely cottage."

    Comfortable beds, good size bathrooms. Lounge / dining area is bigger than it looks on the photos. We enjoyed the log burning fire and were able to easily use the well-equipped kitchen to self-cater. We enjoyed a meal at the local Wilson's Arms pub and the Undercrag cafe had delicious scones. It is about an hour's walk to Coniston water from the cottage. Just remember to take your own teabags, milk and oil. We would recommend and visit again. Great view of Old Man Coniston from the small twin room.

  • "We had a lovely family stay at Ash Gill."

    Very comfortable house and very well equipped with plenty of space if you were 6 adults too! Very well thought out kitchen with room for your food too! The local area is wonderful and there's easy access to walks right from the front door into Coniston. We only made it to the Wilsons for a drink but food looks lovely and they're very friendly in there. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great stay.

  • "A spacious house just a stroll from the friendly local pub with good food and ales."

    The kitchen was the most well equipped I’ve ever stayed in and the rest of the house was comfortable and had everything needed. Also a lovely private garden, weather permitting. A great stay for anyone wanting to be around Coniston water.

  • "Unbelievably clean and comfortable cottage."

    Very well stocked. Sky TV. Games. Wood for log burner. Lovely, albeit remote, location. Pub a few steps away. Plenty of walking and cycling options from the cottage. Have already recommended the cottage to several friends.

    Quality linens, furniture etc which gives a luxury feel to the property. The Wilsons Arms and the Torver Deli are very handy. And walks from the front door on Torver Common are excellent too.

  • "Fabulous property, one of the best we’ve ever stayed in."

    Location is perfect for accessing from the south, and for exploring the surrounding area. (And being able to access Coniston Old Man directly from the house was the icing on the cake, such a beautiful walk.) Plenty of parking space. Downstairs rooms are good size, with huge comfortable sofas, and well equipped modern kitchen. Plenty of space for boots and for hanging coats. Bedrooms all very comfortable and spacious. Would definitely stay here again if we return to the Coniston area.

  • "I don't really want to leave a review as then others will know what a lovely place Ash Gill Cottage is."

    The owners have put a lot of thought into what makes an excellent self-catering cottage. It's very well equipped, very comfortable, and extremely homely. Oh, and it was immaculate. 2 little things would be nice, the option to turn one if the twins into a double and a slow cooker to have something ready and warm to come home to after walking in the area. We didn't rate the pub, food was ok, and we thought overpriced and the service was slow but Coniston and Ulverston are only a short drive away for supplies. The location of the cottage is ideal for walks. We are already looking at returning next year.

  • "Lovely cottage and lovely location."

    Had everything we needed. Very clean and comfortable. My only suggestion was some basics in the cupboard such as salt pepper oil sugar. As I wouldn't expect to bring those items.

    Clean, spacious, tasteful and well equipped. Excellent location for exploring the southern lakes. Pub nearby was good for a decent meal or a pre dinner drink. Would recommend.
