Surrounded by dry-stone walls and green pastures, this welcoming retreat offers a restful base for families or friends eager to explore the Dales.

With off-road parking for two cars, garage access, and secure bike storage, it’s well-suited to those arriving with walking boots in tow.

Approach the property and you’ll find a soft blue-coloured door waiting to be opened—an inviting entrance that hints at the comfort within.

Step inside and you’re welcomed by a sitting room that invites you to slow down.

Light pours in through patio doors, illuminating the wooden floors and casting a soft glow across exposed beams and framed artwork.

A woodburning stove crackles in the hearth, while the gentle warmth of underfloor heating rises beneath your feet—perfect for sinking into the green-toned armchair or stretching out on the sofa with a film on the Smart TV after a day outdoors.

The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing anything from packed lunches to hearty evening meals.

Wander through to the dining room, where a tiled floor and decorative fireplace set the tone for relaxed meals, and a window seat offers a quiet spot to sip tea and take in the peaceful surroundings.

Upstairs, the king-size bedroom—convertible to a twin if needed—offers a restful space beneath rustic floorboards and framed prints.

A walk-in wardrobe provides ample space for your belongings.

The second bedroom features a double bed, a feature fireplace, and more of those characterful floorboards, along with wardrobe space for your stay.

The bathroom is bright and well-appointed, with a bath, overhead shower, basin, heated towel rail, and WC.

From the window, you can catch a glimpse of the dramatic limestone cliffs of Malham Cove—a reminder of the landscape waiting just beyond the doorstep.

Step outside into the garden, where a lawn and patio area with a picnic bench offer a peaceful place to dine or unwind.

The surrounding countryside is close at hand, offering a gentle backdrop of green fields and stone walls that frame your time here. From Ellis House, you’re perfectly placed to explore some of Yorkshire’s most iconic sights.

Malham Cove is just minutes away—a towering limestone amphitheatre steeped in geological wonder.

Spend a day wandering the bustling stalls of Skipton Market, where local produce and handmade crafts fill the cobbled streets.

History lovers will be drawn to Skipton Castle, one of the best-preserved medieval fortresses in England, while those seeking a gentler pace can follow the woodland trail to Janet’s Foss, a magical waterfall hidden among mossy trees.

Whether you’re hiking, sightseeing, or simply enjoying the stillness of the Dales, Ellis House offers a warm and characterful base for your Yorkshire escape.

AIRTON

Malham 2.5 miles; Gargrave 4 miles; Skipton 8 miles; Settle 6 miles.

The picturesque Dales village of Airton is situated in beautiful Malhamdale amidst superb open limestone countryside. The village was known as Airtone in the Domesday Book, and was originally a Quaker village. There is still a Quaker meeting house, along with a squatter's cottage on the village green and a Gade 2 listed old mill on the River Aire. Airton boasts a popular farm shop and tea room at Town End Farm, which is renowned for selling excellent local produce. Airton is a great starting point for walkers, with a route along the Pennine Way into Malhamdale, or you may wish to walk from Gargrave to Malham, via Kirkby Malham, where you will find an historic parish church and village inn. More energetic walkers should explore Calton over Calton Moor to Weets Top and Gordale, or eastwards towards Hetton. Nearby Malham is a magnet for visitors to the Dales who come to see Malham Cove, one of Britain's most impressive natural features. The Cove consists of a natural cavern or 'amphitheatre' of limestone rock stretching 75 metres in height and 300 metres around the perimeter. A steep walk up man-made steps is rewarded with a superb view across moors and limestone pavements to Malham Tarn - the Pennines' highest natural lake. Airton is a wonderful central location with Skipton, Settle and Grassington all within easy reach of this Yorkshire Dales village.
