  • "Very clean, new modernised old cottage in the heart of Gisburn."

Convenient for travel and with a the options for food and drink within walking distance. Parking in front of the property is advertised as for two cars, although given the neighbours also leave their cars it does not feel like it could accommodate two. Having said that, there may be other places you could leave a second car, I am sure the owners would be able to advise. The rear courtyard is advertised as an area to sit and enjoy the fresh air, in reality the back of the property is in a narrow area with properties opposite. There is no privacy so we did not feel able to utlise the small table and chairs outside depsite it being the bank holiday heatwave. We did wash some items but again, given the only outside areas are public roads/footways, we had to dry them inside on the airers provided. The lounge is very comfortable with and a 2 and 3 seater sofa, and the option of log burner makes it also very cosy. The kitchen is well equipped, although could benefit from having a teapot to really enjoy that Yorkshire tea! Bedrooms are light and comfortable with a TV in each, all bedding and linen provided is high quality. One bedroom could perhaps use some blackout lining on the curtains as they are very light and in the spring/summer months the early morning sun does light up the room. The only thing that puts us off booking Cobble Cottage again is the road noise. The cottage is on the busy A59 and although the village has a 30mph speed limit, that seems suggestive to most! The owners have fitted double glazed windows that does mitigate some noise, but if you are a light sleeper or sleep with the window open you may want to bring some earplugs. This is a lovely modernisation of what appears to be two old cottages into one, that retains some original beams and features.
