  • "Wow! What a lovely house!"

The place is huge!! The music room is a really bonus which our 16 year old son lived in! Just a short stroll to the front, pubs and restaurants. Recommend the Old Vic pub near the pier! Parking could be a little tricky but we always managed to park somewhere. First time visiting Clerthorpes will definitely come back.x

  • "If we had known there was building work very close to the property, we wouldn’t have booked it."

We should have been made aware of the disruptions upon booking. I had to clean the kitchen myself as there was food on the floor, beside the microwave and on the floor near the oven. I had to clean the bathroom mirrors as they had what looked like toothpaste splatters on them. The mattresses were terrible and need to be replaced. Stained bedding (throw in front bedroom) and upon stripping the beds yesterday to leave, we found all mattress protectors covered in hairs, human and dog. I do have photos and will gladly send them to you if necessary. The house is lovely but our issues ruined what we thought would be a nice relaxing break. The property needs an outside light in the garden, a hand rail or grab rail for the two steps up to the back bedroom and bathroom and I would suggest having step treads or carpet the stairs as the dark paint is not ideal as you easily miss your step and they are slippy for both humans and dogs. Upon leaving, whilst trying to find the dogs favourite ball, we pulled one of the sofas out and found lots of sweets and clumps of dust and leftover food remains on the floor. The front bedroom smelt of dogs and the chair in the corner is heavily stained and smells of dogs. I couldn’t sleep in the bed as it was so uncomfortable so had to use what I could find to add layers to it so I couldn’t feel the springs and just had a blanket over me. All in all, it wasn’t what we had hoped for. We were overlooked by the builders and the machinery and work going on disturbed us for the whole week days of our stay which made us all feel uncomfortable.

  • "Anchor Cottage is spacious, comfortable, and furnished and decorated very attractively, with lots of interesting ornaments etc."

We found the kitchen well equipped as was the whole house. I especially enjoyed the snug where we could listen to l.p's (I took some old favourites with me) or read one of the many books in comfort. The location was good for accessing both sea front, shops and restaurants. Speaking as an older person suffering from arthritis, I would have liked something to hold on to on the two rather steep steps leading to the bathroom and back bedroom. Perhaps a rope handle that wouldn't take up much width in a rather narrow space. Also, I would have benefited from a sturdy step to aid climbing over the bath side to access the shower. Finally, there isn't a downstairs toilet in this property so think twice if you're not very good on stairs!

However, it is difficult to get a good nights sleep due to the house being incredibly echoey due to no carpets, and all the beds been very noisy, and not great mattresses either.

Spotlessly clean. Everything you need in kitchen if wanting to cook even air fryer. Nice little garden at rear south facing to sit and chill after a day out. Owners of this property have definitely put a lot of thought into making sure your stay will be comfortable. Much appreciated welcome pack on arrival even treats for our dogs. Only short walk to beach and bus stops if you need to explore other places.

All 3 doula bedrooms are large and well furnished. It is in ideal place to explore cleethorpes and the surrounding area. Most of the time we managed to find parking in the nearby pay and display. This was a problem when unloading and loading the car as it was was a short distance to carry our bags and beds and such for the dogs. Parking on the road was rarely available

  • "This is a lovely property in a perfect location in central Cleethorpes."

The house is very tastefully decorated and very comfortable and clean. We had a wonderful week here and were blessed with gorgeous weather. The owners go over and above to make a holiday here extra special. One small point that Sykes should mention in their ads is that the stairs are quite steep and the only toilet is upstairs which may be an issue for anyone with mobility issues. Finding this out on arrival could cause a big problem for some people so it needs to be mentioned in the info on Sykes website.

The only minor point was that we found the main bed uncomfortable, we are not sure whether this was because of the mattress or the unevenness of the floor. The room was beautiful though. We would definitely stay again as it was right in the centre of town and it was like a home from home.

The welcome pack was a very thoughtful touch and gratefully accepted (my wife enjoyed the wine & I ate 2 bananas straight away …… I was famished!) Oh and our dog enjoyed his chew stick. The cottage was very close to the beach, town centre and local pubs and on returning "home'' after a day out, we found it to be very quiet and peaceful. Any neighbours who we briefly met were courteous and friendly. The downside was …… we were only there for one week but we're hoping to return next year.
