  • "Had a wonderful 5 nights at The Lilac Owl."

    Location is fantastic, just outside of Lincoln only a 15-20 minute drive and 1hr 30 to the sea. Lodge is furnished nicely and has everything you need for self catering. Hot tub was great, it was clean upon arrival and maintained during our stay. The grounds around the property were very peaceful, perfect for a family with young children that can run around and explore. Dont have much negative to say. These things werent huge issues but it could be cleaned a bit more throughly, we saw quite a lot of spiders, webs and dust. Fridge and cupboards need a bit of cleaning. So perhaps just a bit more attention to detail with cleaning. The bed in the master bedroom was a tad uncomfortable. We went when the temperature was around 25-30 and the lodge was very warm with no way of cooling other than a small fan so maybe some additional cooling measures would be a worthy addition to the property. Other than those gripes. I believe we will be returning to the Lilac Owl in the future as overall our stay was great and many great memories were made during the stay.

The Lilac Owl is this beautifully presented lodge, tucked away on a popular site in South Hykeham, Lincolnshire, boasting a clad structure with a rear decking housing a hot tub.

The Lilac Owl provides an excellent escape for a family looking to escape normality and uncover this part of Lincolnshire.

Step into the open-plan living space and relish in a home-cooking session within the kitchen, making use of the electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge, before settling down at the dining table and tucking into a hearty dish.

Head over to the sofa and enjoy a leisurely evening catching up on your favourite shows, before heading out to the rear decking and relaxing on the furniture, or take a dip in the hot tub under the stars.

When the night rolls in, head to the bedrooms to catch your rest, with the master offering a queen-size bed with an en-suite shower room, whilst the second bedroom offers a twin setup.

Tee off at the nearby 9-hole golf course, ideal for trying your hand at something new or perfecting your swing, in addition to Whisby Nature Reserve, which is home to magnificent views and a variety of wildlife.

Wander through the beautiful landscapes of the Lincolnshire Wolds, or for a change of scenery, the city of Lincoln is a short drive away, offering something for everyone, including attractive buildings and a wealth of shops and restaurants, so there’s something for everyone!

Lincoln is also known for its wonderful Christmas market held in December, a must-see attraction if you’re holidaying at this time!

Thorpe-on-the-Hill is a small quiet village 6 miles from Lincoln, an ideal location from which to explore the many attractions that both Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire offer. Nearby is the 300-acre Whisby Nature Reserve, including a visitors centre with balcony offering breathtaking views over the Lake. Spend a day visiting Lincoln, home to one of the finest medieval gothic cathedrals in Europe, the beautiful 11th century castle with tower offering a birds eye view of the city, or shop till you drop, enjoying the quaint quirky independent and high street shops, also stopping for a break in one of the cities many restaurants catering for all tastes. Other local attractions include Doddington Hall with its lovely gardens, Museum of Lincolnshire Life, Transport Museum, Woodside Falconry & Conservation Centre, Dambuster Heritage Centre, Sherwood Forest, or further afield visit the coastal town of Skegness.
