  • "Beautiful property in a fantastic situation, amazing furnishing, and plenty of basic provisions such as salt etc, toilet paper, coffee, and laundry pods."

Lovely and clean, warm, and very reasonably priced. The owners are very friendly, and can't do enough to make your holiday great. Parking is across the road in lay-bys, but the road was very quiet and there was always a space within a few houses, so not a problem. We stayed for 5 nights at the end of September 2025 (party of three adults and a dog). The property comes with sole use of the front garden, which was super for letting the dog out late at night, and for sitting in during the evening, as it faces the sun. Lovely garden furniture is provided as well as outdoor chair cushions and parasol. The garden has boundaries, but they might be too low for some dogs, It wasn't a problem for our spaniel. There were lots of dog friendly touches......a number of dog towels provided, jars of dog treats were there, and blankets for the settee. Just lovely touches. I particularly loved the style of the property and the decoration and furnishing. It really felt like I was at a stately home for a weekend shooting grouse ! Beautiful sideboards and wardrobes and beds, all beautiful polished wood. A chandelier in the hallway gave it a feel of grandeur. We were allowed to light an open fire, with coal and kindling provided (we didn't bother), but you need to clear the ashes next morning - though a metal bin is provided for this - another example of a lovely touch, especially if you were clearing up to leave by 10am and the embers were still hot. However, we were also allowed to alter the central heating thermostat, something I've not been able to do in some properties I've rented previously. We are active and went out every day. also lucky that we didn't have any rain. However, if the weather had been cold and wet, I think you would have a lovely time sat at the table in the bay window overlooking the loch, with an open fire and a jigsaw, followed by an evening in the pub ! The local pub is in Kilcreggan, The Creggans Bar. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. I had loaded chips, daughter had beef pie and chips, son had ham egg and chips. If we had stopped longer we definitely would have returned. We did four days out : - Inveraray and its jail - Glasgow (caught foot ferry across Clyde from Kilcreggan followed by train to Glasgow) - Loch Lomond and the Birds of Prey display - Helensburgh submarine museum, followed by Dumbarton Castle walk (castle was closed for refurbishment) Would I rebook the property ? Oh yes ! We had a lovely time.

Beautifully clean, very well appointed with sumptuous fixtures and fittings. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone who enjoys being at the loch side and it’s perfect as a base to explore the surrounding area. The pub at Kilcreggan was very friendly and hospitable. Overall, a lovely place to stay.

It is in a lovely position being about to look straight out at Loch Long and the hills beyond. Rockvale is quiet, very comfortable and spacious with everything you need. It was a nice touch to have treats left for the dogs as well as ourselves so thank you very much. It was perfect for our relaxing break away from home.

We watched dolphins jumping and swimming as well as seal! A lovely welcome treat which was a nice surprise. Everything detailed in advert was exact. Lots of towels which was great. You do need a car to get around the area which was obviously beautiful.

  • "What a gem!"

A beautifully decorated apartment in keeping with the architecture. Very comfortable beds and bedding. Catering for dogs was a great bonus. The view spectacular! We were very lucky with the weather, so were able to take advantage of the front garden patio, facing west. The kitchen had everything, layout superb. Being next door to great little shop/cafe was a lovely bonus. Locals were very friendly and being three minutes walk from the newly built Cove Sailing Club where the bar seemed to be open continually was fantastic. A great week, fantastic value, thank you.

The area is very quiet which we like. We would recommend the food at the pub on the main road in Kilcreggan and the foot passenger ferry to Gourock which has a selection of independent shops and cafes.

Thank you for the kind review, Richard. So glad you enjoyed your stay and some of the attractions of Cove and Rosneath. And thank you for leaving Rockvale so clean and tidy. Hope to see you back. Property Owner

  • "The property is in a great location, but you must be aware that you will need to travel to get around all the locations are with in the hour."

Great views of the loch and nice local walks in the area. The only draw back is that I would look to have a bigger fridge/freezer, and the matteress in the back room double bed would need replacing. Otherwise we would stay again if going to this area again, thank you.

Thanks for taking the time to review Rockvale. Delighted to hear you loved the great views and local walks. The freestanding fridge freezer is split 70/30 so whilst the fridge is large, the freezer is smaller. Normally more than adequate, but note that you were a large party with kids so apologies if it was a bit small for your needs on this occasion. All mattresses are in good condition and we understand the importance of a good nights sleep in a clean and comfortable bed. However it’s very difficult to cater to individual preferences, but we will take your feedback on board. We’d love to welcome you back again should you visit the area. Many thanks. Ude and Wendy. The dogs were made to feel very welcome with a little welcome pack and biscuits awaiting them. Front garden was secure for them. Views from the property were outstanding across the loch and over to the firth of Clyde. Dolphins passed us on one occasion! Some lovely walks on the doorstep as well as being a great base to explore the neighbouring sea lochs, Loch Lomond and the Argyll Forest. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit this area and we would love to return someday!

Such thoughtful little touches which made it a home away from home. Wine and crisps appreciated too. I would recommend this accommodation without hesitation. The views from the lounge and main bedroom were amazing. We loved getting back at night to have a lovely sundowner on the patio. We were blessed with 7 days of sunshine which helped, but I'm sure it’s wonderful whatever the weather.

We had a very comfortable, relaxing, peaceful time. Only 10 seconds from the shoreline with lovely long walks, The Country Store next door has excellent coffee, the best ice cream, goodies, and gifts. One is ensuite and there is a second large bathroom. The kitchen is the best well stocked kitchen I have ever stayed in, it literally had everything you could ever need for a stay. The living room has excellent views over the loch, and with a table and open fire too. The sofas super comfy too. The front garden is secure enough for our dog, and we sat in the garden chairs and enjoyed the afternoon sun while admiring the view. The owners were quick to help with a slight problem too. The shop next door sells most things for a stay too and are rally friendly too, or you can get food delivered from Morrisons. We will be back when we can. Highly recommend.
