"Property was in fantastic spot with wonderful views and nice surroundings."
Quite a
steep walk back from Aberdovey but if you enjoy walking it's a good to do. The property had all the basic components and was comfortable and adequate. It could do with a little upgrading as some areas were looking a bit outdated. But on the whole we were warm comfortable and enjoyed our stay despite the weather.

"We absolutely loved our stay at Pentref!"
The chalet is fantastic - so much space! We are a family of 6 and normally when we go away, we struggle, but not here. It has everything you could possibly need. The views from the chalet are incredible.
Unfortunately for us it rained the entire time we were there, but we would love to come back again in summer months so we could also use the outside space. A BBQ on the decking with that view would be amazing!

"The lodge was very clean and has everything that you need for a holiday by the sea."
It is quite high-up in the hills behind Aberdovey and the "low cloud" weather meant the lodge was in the clouds :) It is a single-file lane that leads to the lodge park but was not a problem as we were there out-of-high-season. The views were amazing. The weather was not good enough for us to enjoy the decking and outdoor facilities but there were plenty and in summer would be magnificent. The car park is a little way from the lodge with steps down and up to the lodge, so could be awkward for moving alot of cases etc..Facilities were perfect which means you don't have to take all your kitchen stuff. All the equipment was in good working order and the heaters in the bedroom were very efficient. The gas heater in the lounge seemed to give-up after a short time, which may have been the gas was low but we didn't delve too much as it wasn't freezing. The beds were comfortable and clean. The lounge and conservatory suites were also comfortable and clean. The french doors onto the decking could do with being more secure. The shower was hot and a good pressure. Plenty of parking space. Great for dogs (we have 2 well behaved Shar Pei). Overall we had a fab holiday, even with the dodgy weather.

"I think this was the only chalet with a huge decked area, and the panoramic view was amazing."
We were not blessed with good weather so a few more board games would have helped on the day when we couldn't get out, and some replacement batteries for the dvd remote too. Our stay was comfortable overall with plenty of space for us and our two dogs. My wish list would be a dressing table in the master bedroom, I really felt it needed one and it would've been useful for me. We all felt that the double mattresses in both of the double rooms were too soft, but the bedding itself was lovely and plenty of towels. We did enjoy our stay and the beach at Aberdovy was absolutely marvelous.

"Pentref has the most amazing views from the outside deck area."
Surrounded by glorious countryside and overlooking the estuary. Well stocked with household items, although on reflection we should have requested fans because of heatwave (1st week Sept). Aberdyfi town 5 mins in car. Would need to be extremely fit to attempt walk back (steep). Would suggest Pentref needs some revamping to conservatory, deck area, and possibly updating of seating in living area. Fridge and freezer not sufficient size for 6/8 people. Despite these things we had a wonderful time in fab surroundings

"This place is perfect."
The views are amazing. The cabin comfortably accommodated 4 adults and 3 children. With its 2 double beds and a room with 2 singles and a smaller room with 2 bunks. Loads of storage with a full sized bath and a separate shower room.
If your not good on your feet the walk to the beach is a bit steep, but there was plenty of carpark space in the town at the bottom if you cant face the walk back up. Loads of attractions from slate mines and steam trains close by, and the beach is soft sand and mostly dog friendly.
Hi speed Internet with internet enabled tv so you can log into your amazon or netflix. It even has a separate utility room that houses washing machine and tumbler. We dried clothes in the sun room.
You can walk dogs off lead in the cabin park area. A cattle grid keeps the dogs in and the sheep and cows out
Owners were very helpful and easy to communicate with.

"We had a wonderful stay at Pentref; the lodge is spacious, homely and offers breathtaking views in a peaceful setting."
There were 7 of us staying and there was plenty of space for all of us. We enjoyed a fabulous walk down to Aberdovey beach; however, be prepared for a challenging (but enjoyable) walk back up to the chalet park!
The information guide in the lodge advised that there was a key within the master lock that would lock the conservatory door, however, we couldn't find this (only another front door key). This wasn't too much of a problem but we probably would have preferred to have been able to lock the conservatory too - however, I'm sure Sarah & John would have provided the key had we asked for it.
Overall a superb stay and we are looking forward to returning to Pentref soon.

"Hi. Firstly, we want to say that we found Sarah to be helpful and caring in her communications."
Thank you. We arrived at the property after a long drive and we blown away by the view from the terrace. Really spectacular. Just in brief though, there were a few things that we wanted to raise.
We felt there could've been more of a welcome at the cottage. A small welcome note or at least instructions on where to find local information. The local information "folder" was tucked away on a shelf which was concealed by the sofa. We had to hunt for it. And in it, well, not much information. Not up to date anyway. There was a draw stuffed full of every flyer in existence from the local area, but that was a bit daunting so we left it. So aside from a lovely (brief) conversation with Sarah, as we had taken a wrong turn on arrival, we we relived to arrive but it all felt a bit "cold" and unwelcoming in the cabin.
Practical things.
There were dirty towels left of the back of one of the bedroom doors and a half drunk bottle of mineral water left on the top bunk (which was not made up with fresh linen - or any linen). In these paranoid COVID times, this isn't fantastic. So we were missing one set of bed linen. When you pay for an entire cabin, even if it sleeps 8 and there are only 7 of you, you should be given the option to use all of the beds. My daughter was feeling poorly on the first night, so I opted to sleep in the bunk room with her, which meant taking the linen off a twin bed and making up the top bunk myself.
The cold tap in the bath didn't work but this was resolved the next morning by John, so thank you.
We are coffee drinkers and were sad to find no way of brewing a coffee on our first morning. We used the teapot and a tea strainer in the end. Also in the kitchen, no scissors, no spare tea towels (aside from the one that was there) that we could find and no slice/spatular for the frying pan (only bar b q ones which were huge). Paying over £2000 for the week, I think basic kitchen items should be included.
Now, we didn't watch much of it, but with no Wifi, our daughter watched a little TV. Someone before us had obviously been a little overzealous with the volume control, as the speaker is shot. The sound is scratchy and muffled. The batteries in the remote were also on the blink which was a bit of an annoyance. Again, something you'd think wouldn't be an issue in a venue with this price tag.
The walk down to the beach is about 15/20 mins, but the walk back up is a schlep (up very steep hills), it took me (on my own) more like half an hour or so, so be warned with little ones. If you're going to the beach every day, you'd really need to use the car if you've got young children. It was further than we'd thought. If you're a dog owner, the only place they can run off the lead is the beach. You are surrounded by sheep. So this is something to bear in mind.
This list seems pernickety, but it's only because we are listing everything we can think of to try to be helpful to others who may want to book. Without question this property delivers on an absolutely fantastic view and it's very spacious inside. It's the little things we felt were lacking. I think when you own a place like this, you perhaps rely on customers being so blown away by the view, that you perhaps feel the finer points don't matter. But we felt they did matter. And we missed them. Thanks though, the view is indeed breath taking.

The views from the decking are simply breathtaking. There was more than enough space for us and the rooms were comfortable and clean. We felt completely private on our decking as well which was really nice. The only thing that would have been a bit nicer would have been a slightly bigger fridge for more space for bbq food as well as those essential chilled drinks.
We had friendly texts from the owners and although we didnt need to contact them they made it clear they were available.

The cottage is easily in the most spectacular location I have ever stayed in.
The views from all the windows are stunning and we did not want venture far during our week... although the countrside around offers many more delights.
The cottage is clean, well-maintained and cosy, a real joy to spend precious family time in.
It has a lovely warm and welcoming feel and is surprisingly spacious... we were a party of eight adults with three small dogs and we never felt cramped.
The beds and furniture are comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped.
The huge balcony has a range of outdoor furniture to suit all and a bbq for wonderful evenings watching the tide change in the estuary and the sun set while sharing food and wine into the darkness of night, and enjoying the amazing night sky and pretty lights across the bay.

No neighbours to overlook. The site and lodge was very clean and tidy. The only small issue was that there was only one 'bathroom' with a sink. The 2nd shower room only had a WC and Shower. Not an issue as there was only 3 of us. The beds were comfortable and clean.
