"Lovely terraced cottage that was well decorated - homely and comfortable."
Three good bedrooms - all doubles with comfy beds.
Ideal for a family - or younger adults as six older adults may find it a little compact. We were a couple and a dog - so masses of space for us! Good bathroom with double shower with plenty of hot water. A suggestion of a heated towel rail would be useful in assisting with drying towels but otherwise all good. Supplied towels and bed linen a bonus and good quality together with a few essentials that we found upon arrival - tea, coffee, loo rolls etc. including treats for the dog. Useful SPA shop in the village and we made use of the local pub the White Horse which did a lovely homemade Beef and Ale pie.
Parking opposite the property was fine - so long as families are aware the front door opens direct to the street - we had recce'd the property with Google Maps so knew what to expect.
Overall - it was good value for the price paid. We had a great stay and would return again.

"We had a lovely stay at Castle Street in Clun."
The property was perfect for our short break, warm and cozy with lovely decor. The house was situated perfectly for some amazing walks and the village of Clun was beautiful with two lovely pubs, a really well kitted out shop and very friendly locals. Would definitely recommend this property.

"Upon arrival I was notified of the heater in the bedroom not working
The other storage heaters, although switched on and set to 23 degrees, were not all working."
The first night of my stay was spent in a very cold house.
The heater in the lounge suddenly started working on the Tuesday therefore the first 2 days there was no heat radiating from it
The heaters in all other rooms did not get warm at any time !!
The photos of the property are deceiving as the hallway is dark and cold and the lounge, although shown as bright and airy in the photos, is very dark due the extension that has been added on to the back of the property

"Really comfortable and really well decorated thoughout."
Kitchen good but need some extra pans to cater for smaller parties ( at least one other small saucepan).
Garden and patio area could be great after the winter.Suggest plant the raised beds with more herbs.
Actully one of the best cottages we have stayed so really reccomend.
Parking was not a problem.
My only other suggestion would be to make more of the garden
A great stay so0 thank you

"Had a flood before we arrived and the smell was horrible, can’t use the ground floor bedroom for the damp bed and smelly room."
Didn’t have handset for fire. Every appliance came with a book to use it. As did the heating. The shower only worked on one heat as was damaged, too hot for me. Holes in wall not fixed. General cold damp and smelly. Very unhappy.

"We visited Clun as a couple taking with us our small dog."
No 6 Castle Street is a very well decorated and spotlessly clean mid terrace Victorian house (‘2 up 2 down’). The house has two bedrooms upstairs (plus another downstairs) and bathroom with integrated toilet. The owners clearly have very good taste as exemplified by the tasteful colour schemes and furnishings throughout. There is a patio area at the back (with table and chairs) and steps down to a lawned area.
The house is very well located close to the centre of Clun, which is a delightful village in the heart of southern Shropshire, surrounded by glorious countryside (AONB) and with accessible footpaths allowing for some wonderful walking. There are two pubs in the centre, though only the White Horse has a restaurant. There is also a highly rated old café called The Maltings which is worth a visit, and a further café by the bridge in Church Street.
A few thoughts:
• House is not really suitable for six people
• The downstairs front room would make a wonderful lounge area (plenty of natural light) instead of a third bedroom.
• More space to hang clothing would be useful
• We would have preferred a washing machine to the dishwasher
• We were always able to park our car in the road opposite the house (but recommend to park close to the wall)
• A visitor book would be useful (for up to date tips on locality)
• It is always reassuring knowing we can contact the owner direct (versus having to go through Sykes as was the case here)

"A wonderful comfy bed in the main bedroom, all the cutlery, crockery, cooking items etc you would need in the kitchen."
A lovely bottle of wine, biscuits and dog treats on arrival, also as there was some new unpainted plaster and we were left a bottle of Prosecco because of this, thank you very much for all of these. A couple of very good shops, two pubs and two cafes within walking distance. Lovely walks from the property. Parking across the road was not always easy but always possible. We have an elderly dog so getting down into the kitchen and down to the garden was rather difficult but would be fine for a younger dog. Lovely and clean with everything you would need for a very enjoyable holiday, we would love to return.

"The perfect cottage for the two of us and our young dog!"
The cottage is well decorated and very well equipped. Although it sleeps six comfortably, I’m not sure 6 adults could comfortably relax in the lounge or sit around the dining table. The garden is secure for dogs, there’s a playing field directly behind the cottage for exercise, a river where dogs can have a paddle and castle ruins to walk around. It’s such a friendly town with a couple of pubs, a tea shop and a well stocked SPAR. Thank you for the wine, biscuits and dog treats - a lovely welcome touch!

"The most comfortable, cosy and stylish cottage."
Totally dog friendly. For us a comfortable bed makes or breaks a holiday and the beds, mattresses and bedding were superb. Owners clearly value their guests comfort, thanks!!
Well equipped kitchen had everything we needed. Two pubs and two good cafes within Clun, both cafes very good for gluten free food (I am coeliac so this matters) and a good local shop. Everything to hand. The cottage was warm and the shower is great.
We couldn't get the TV to work - kept saying cables not connected but we checked them all and looked online for advice so don't know what that was about. And the bathroom extractor fan wouldn't work.
Neither was much of a problem but mentioned FYI.

We really loved the sympathy to the original features and styling of the bedrooms. My daughter said it is exactly the sort of cottage she would like when she's fully grown. We really enjoyed our short stay in Clun. Thanks.

"Booked our stay via booking."
Com but unfortunately our booking was cancelled one day before departure due to a broken boiler which was a bit of stress to us
The First Lady who called us was quite rude and hung the phone on me, the second lady who booked our substitute home never called back to say that the accommodation was no longer available, I had to chase it by calling again but third time I spoke to a gentleman who was vey professional and helpful, he found us another home and all went well
First day of stay the electricity power went off but Sykes sent and engineer next morning and all was fixed, they have also covered our breakfast cost as we had to eat outside so it was a great gesture and great help
The accommodation was great and clean and had everything we needed
Thanks a lot

Very nice to arrive to find bottle of wine & lovely biscuits. Good quality furnishings & bedding. Only issue could have been street parking but after unloading we parked at memorial hall and took 2 minute walk via footpath to cottage. Plenty of good walks from village.

"We were thrilled to stay in Rhubarb Retreat."
What a beautiful cottage! It is so beautifully decorated, with lovely little touches- a delightful home from home. Dog bowl and a tin of dog treats. So thoughtful. The garden is very pretty, and we loved the morning sun on the deck (even in March). Perfectly appointed too very close to the castle ruins. I’m planning my next trip.

"Everything was just perfect."
6 Castle St felt just like 'home from home'. The cottage was so well appointed and the coffee machine was a lovely added bonus. Everything worked and there were loads of 'everything' e.g. dishwasher tablets, sanitiser, shower gel, coffee pods etc. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage toastie warm. We had such a lovely family time and it was perfect for our dog too with plenty of walks on the doorstep. Clun is such a great place with a welcoming pub and spar shop 3 minutes away. Perfect
Thank you for the wine too, a lovely welcome.

"Comfortable property with everything you need provided including wine and very nice biscuits!"
Great location if you enjoy walking, breath taking scenery, lots of uphill but worth it for the views. One downside, we found parking at the property tricky and the road outside is narrow and what seemed like ridiculously large and noisy vehicles trying to get through.

"Good place to stay."
We were a group of 4 adults and 2 children and it was just about big enough for us. It's very nicely set up and decorated and liked the extra touches made by host e.g. bottle of wine on arrival. We did have to clear out a few bits from the kids bedroom as didn't want to damage things as all bedrooms are set up with bits n bobs that appeal to an adult taste. Good place to stay if you want to get away from it all.

"Whilst the property is tastefully decorated and furnished with a great location for exploring Shropshire and the borders I don’t think the facilities are adequate for 6 adults, especially the bathroom and kitchen."
The fridge was barely big enough for the two of us with a tiny freezer drawer that was completely iced up that we had to endeavour to defrost before using. Great care needs to be taken when using the front door as it’s the property is on a busy road with limited parking. That all said we had a great holiday and made good use of the decking, garden and local walking guide ( 33 walks)

Took our fury daughter who loved the garden and next doors cat and dog , even had a treat tin Courtesy of the owners. Clun is so friendly two great pubs both dogs are welcome. Walking was amazing, number 6 had a great little book for round walks all on the door step . Had an issue with tv messaged owners and they got back to us straight away very accommodating . Would definitely recommend this house , probably a bit small for six adults but definitely ok for four and a couple of kids .
