  • "This delightful lodge is extremely well placed on the site and also is only a very short walk to the village with its shop, pub with food, coffee shop, and especially the seafood shop (limited opening days)."

There is also a small camp shop. The well-equipped kitchen invites cooking because within a short drive are several high-quality farm shops as well as all the normal supermarket supplies; this is part of Foodie Norfolk and we ate wagu which had been produced about two miles away, as well as excellent fish. The en-suite cloakroom and the full family shower room make getting out in the mornings much easier. The wi-fi is very good; enough to support office work if necessary and the mobile signal was also good. The beach is only a few minutes away, a fascinating but eroding area with glorious new sand. There was plenty to do within a 15 minute drive; we haven't seen half of it and so look forward to coming back. The two parking spaces made it easy to meet up here; the west facing deck is the perfect place to sip a drink as the sun goes down. The owner keeps the place clean and well equipped.

  • "Lovely accommodation in a lovely spot."

Well stocked kitchen utensils meant we were able to cook for ourselves most evenings. Plenty of parking and good wifi. Relaxing with a glass of wine on the sunny patio outside after a long day walking was bliss. Would thoroughly recommend Coastal Retreat for anyone wishing a break near the coast in Norfolk.

  • "Very homely and stocked with everything you might need."

Comfortable with added bonus of two bathrooms, one en-suite. Very restful experience in a quiet village. There is one pub with lovely food and a fresh fish shop open Wednesday to Sunday. Supermarkets only 15 minutes away. Cromer and Great Yarmouth 30 minutes away in either direction.

WALCOTT

North Walsham 6 miles; Cromer 14 miles; Norwich 18 miles.

Walcott is a lovely coastal village that sits right in the middle of the Norfolk coastline, with many small and friendly coastal villages nearby; Bacton where the ruins of Bromholm Priory and Bacton Woods can be found, Happisburgh with its impressive lighthouse, and Mundesley with its fine sandy beaches are to name but a few. The name Walcott is derived from the Celtic word Walecote, which means "village by the wood". It is an ideal place for walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, bird watching or simply relaxing and enjoying the many views. Walcott is also a great location for exploring the beautiful scenery of the Norfolk coast, as well as the famous Norfolk Broads. Further inland there are plenty of famous National Trust properties to visit, such as Blickling, Felbrigg and Holkham Halls, or why not visit the historic city of Norwich, with its beautiful Norman Cathedral and Castle, and of course spend your money in the many shops, pubs and restaurants on offer.
