The property

8 Douglas Place is a delightful cottage resting in Brodick on the Isle of Arran, North Ayrshire.

Ideal for families and friends, this pet-friendly retreat enjoys sea views, an enclosed courtyard garden and a fantastic location close to the coast, providing a wonderful base from which to discover this beautiful island.

Occupying a sought-after position within the historic Douglas Row, the cottage dates back to around 1856 and forms part of a much-loved row of former estate workers' cottages, adding plenty of character to your stay.

Arrive along the lane on the outskirts of Brodick and park opposite the cottage, where the traditional sandstone frontage and glimpse of the surrounding coastline provide a wonderful first impression.

Set back from the main road, the cottage occupies a desirable position within one of Arran's most recognisable historic rows.

Step inside and leave coats and walking boots in the entrance hallway before moving through to the bright open-plan living space.

The sitting area invites you to settle onto the sofas with a favourite book or gather together in the evening beside the woodburning stove, tucked neatly into its own nook.

As the fire glows, stretch out and enjoy a film on the TV or simply spend time chatting about the day's adventures.

The dining table provides space for four guests to come together over leisurely breakfasts and relaxed evening meals, while around the corner the kitchen is well equipped for preparing everything from quick lunches to hearty family suppers, featuring an oven and hob, microwave, kettle, fridge/freezer and washing machine.

After days spent exploring the island, the ground-floor shower room offers a refreshing space to unwind, complete with a heated towel rails and underfloor heating for an added touch of comfort.

When night falls, head upstairs where two bright and welcoming bedrooms await.

The king-size bedroom and twin bedroom both enjoy pleasant country views, creating an inviting setting to wake up each morning and watch the landscape come to life before planning the day ahead.

Outside, the enclosed rear courtyard garden provides a lovely spot to enjoy a morning coffee in the fresh island air or an evening drink as the sun begins to lower.

From the doorstep, guests can stroll into Brodick with ease, where a selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, tearooms and gift shops await, while the shoreline is also within easy reach for walks beside the water.

A visit to Brodick Castle, Garden and Country Park makes for a memorable day out, where grand interiors filled with fascinating collections are complemented by colourful formal gardens and scenic woodland trails.

Wildlife enthusiasts may spot red squirrels among the trees, while elevated viewpoints reveal far-reaching island and coastal vistas.

The attractive village of Lamlash offers a delightful change of pace, with a sweeping bay overlooking Holy Isle, a picturesque waterfront perfect for a stroll, and welcoming cafés where you can sit and watch the boats pass across the water.

The surrounding scenery provides countless opportunities to soak up Arran's distinctive character.

For those drawn to the island's dramatic landscapes, Sannox is well worth exploring.

Wander through the glen beneath striking mountain backdrops, admire the beach and its ever-changing views, and discover some of Arran's most impressive natural scenery where hills, woodland and coastline meet.

Whether you're enjoying evenings beside the wood-burning stove, dining together after a day of adventure or discovering the many treasures of the Isle of Arran, 8 Douglas Place provides a delightful setting for an unforgettable Scottish island escape.
