  • "This was our 5th visit to Sailing Home and, as usual, it was a wonderful stay."

    It's set in the perfect location and has everything needed for either self catering or eating out. The bathroom has been upgraded and now has a large shower which makes things even better. I would recommend this property to everyone if they're looking for a relaxing holiday.

  • "A lovely, well maintained property in a great position."

    Lots of crockery, glasses and pans etc. Would definitely stay again. The week we stayed was incredibly hot, in the high twenties every day. One suggestion I would make is to have some thick curtains to pull over the folding doors to keep the heat out. Otherwise perfect.

  • "Taking a holiday break this early in the year obviously brings the danger that the weather might not be all that it could be."

    With low temperatures and high winds it might have spelt disaster but with a long our long held interest in the Ffestiniog Railway, it being just a few steps away, we had no problems filling the time. The accommodation is spotless, comfortable and incredibly well kitted out. From the view point of a elderly person I should like to point out that the second toilet is on the same floor level as the main one (had hoped to avoid traversing the stairs each time) and that the front door has a rather high step over. (only one trip over and no bones broken). We would certainly visit again and hope to see the sun next time.

  • "Lovely property, amazing location."

    Great to look out of the window and see the continually changing view of harbour and estuary or better still sit on balcony. Ideally situated for restaurants, shops and Ffestiniog railway. Everything we needed was there. Our only complaint was that refrigerator was switched off and open and as we had an 8hr journey food in our cool box needed a cold refrigerator.

  • "Delightful property and very well equipped."

    Beautiful views and well placed to trot into town whilst being a very quiet location. Only tiny minus was the TV aerial which meant watching via online apps.

  • "The property is in a lovely position, and the views from the balcony are stunning."

    The cleaning standards were not 100%, the fridge door was stained and sticky, as were the stair case banisters. A welcome pack would have been nice, even just a pint of milk. I have no idea why you would turn off the fridge and freezer between lets. We arrived to find a puddle on the floor where it had defrosted, and a warm fridge in which to put our food - just a bit weird?

We are so sorry to hear that the standard of cleanliness was below par and that you did not receive your welcome pack ( one of which is usually left for every guest).   • "Sailinghome is first class accommodation spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your break."

    It's bright fresh open plan area works so well open the doors to a fantastic view every morning and sit out and enjoy watching the boats go by that's the only traffic so peaceful and relaxing just what I needed. Thank you .

    We enjoyed our stay. I wasn't happy with the cleaner turning up at 9.30 as we were still loading the car.

The property

Sailing Home.

Guests are overjoyed with the location of this private quayside development, five minutes walk from the town centre and the famous Ffestiniog Railway steam train station.

It's a rather special villa with westerly views across the harbour mouth and Ballast island.

The living room, which includes a galley kitchen, and twin bedroom occupy the whole of the 1st floor; an additional two bedrooms and shower room are on the ground floor.

All bedrooms have the same waterside view.

Enjoy peaceful scenes from the balcony as the cormorant waits for a passing meal, swallows skim across the water and the grey mullet just below the surface makes ripples on the calm water.

Just the place to relax and sit with a pair of binoculars.

This is a good central location for a holiday property in North Wales.

Easy access to sandy beaches at Borth y Gest 15 min walk and Morfa Bychan's Black Rock Sands (2 mls).

The bustling harbour town of Porthmadog lies on the Glaslyn Estuary and enjoys a stunning setting. The gateway to the Snowdonia National Park, Porthmadog is full of individual shops and restaurants, and home to the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland railway where you can travel by steam through spectacular Snowdonia scenery, to Blaenau Ffestiniog or Caernarfon. The pretty village of Borth Y Gest, with its cliffs and coves, is a short walk or drive from the town. The well known and unique Italianate village of Portmeirion is just down the coast. Situated on a rugged clifftop on its own private peninsula, Portmeirion, famous as the location of the TV show The Prisoner and the final episode of Cold Feet, is surrounded by miles of sandy beaches and woodlands. The area also boasts castles at Criccieth and Harlech, and superb unspoilt beaches such as Black Rock Sands, where the sands stretch as far as the eye can see.
