"This was our second stay in this lovely canal side cottage."
It's changed owner since our first visit
Still very comfortable, well equipped, high standard of cleanliness. Two things, only minor. No slotted spoon or sieve for straining vegetables. Dishwasher needed a top up of salt and rinse aid. Just minor stuff, did not detract from a fabulous holiday. Yes. I guess the Welsh border liquid sunshine was a bit of a nuisance a few times but we still had a great time.

"Lovely location and we had a very enjoyable stay."
Cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped.
There was a warning about the steepness of the stairs but we were surprised to find just how steep and difficult they were especially as they went round a corner. Adding the word "very" might make it clearer for those of us on the elderly-side! However, we managed fine once we'd got used to them.
It was a great area for walking with lots to see and do in the area.

"Just returned from a lovely break at 2 Aqueduct Cottages."
We were sad to leave and would love to return.
The Cottage was immaculate, spotlessly clean on check in, and beautifully furnished.
The downstairs is surprisingly spacious for a Cottage, and the upstairs lovely and cosy.
The upstairs bathroom is spacious and having the extra shower and toilet downstairs was a bonus.
The setting was the best bit, a few steps to the tow path for lovely walks, minutes from the aqueduct and an enjoyable 10-15 minutes walk (across the aqueduct) into the village depending on your speed. With the pub and a cafe even closer.
The back garden was surrounded by trees and birds, a lovely suntrap too.
Would recommend a stay to anyone wanting to get away for some peace and quiet with walks from the front door!
I've already been looking at dates to return! Hopefully for a bit longer next time.
Thank you so much for your lovely review — it really means a lot to us.
We’re delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your stay, from the space and comfort of the cottage to the peaceful setting and those walks right from the doorstep. It’s great to know the little touches, like the extra shower room and the garden, made a difference too.
We couldn’t ask for better feedback than hearing you were sad to leave and are already thinking about coming back — you’d be very welcome anytime, and we’d love to host you again for a longer stay next time.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience.

"This is our second time here and first time under new ownership."
The position on the canal is wonderful with easy access to Chirk and great walks along the canal. We didn’t use the car all week, choosing instead to catch the bus at Chirk Bridge to go to Oswestry and the train from Chirk station (a short walk away) to Wrexham. We also enjoyed cycling along the canal. The beds are comfortable, the towels and bedding were good quality and the addition of a shower screen over the bath was a bonus, although getting the water temperature at the right heat was slightly tricky. Overall we had a very good week in a very warm and cosy cottage.
Thank you for your lovely review and for staying with us again – it’s great to welcome returning guests under our new ownership.
We’re so pleased you enjoyed the canal location, local walks and transport links, and that you found the cottage warm and comfortable. Thank you also for your note on the shower temperature – we’ll look into this.
We’d love to welcome you back again soon.

"Been using the cottage for the last 12 years previous owner Susan was always ready to meet us on arrival, always made us feel welcome."
No idea who now owns the cottage now The cottage was well equipped lovely bedding, towels etc .personally I got a bit pissed of after a 6 hour journey all I wanted to do was light the fire when we arrived unfortually it hadn't been cleaned out and no starter kit .to use. Husband got a bit naggy because he had to go for fuel after driving down but all was good afterwards. I didn't use the washing machine because of the build up of mould on the seal . All in all though I will be booking again its home from home for me and my husband as all family live in Chirk.
Thank you for your feedback and for continuing to return to the cottage after so many years – it’s wonderful to hear that it still feels like a home from home for you when visiting family in Chirk.
I’m sorry to hear that the fire hadn’t been cleaned ready for your arrival and that there wasn’t a starter kit available after your long journey. I completely understand how frustrating that must have been and will make sure this is addressed with our housekeeping team so it’s ready for future guests.
Thank you as well for flagging the washing machine seal – we’ll ensure this is properly cleaned and checked.
We really appreciate you taking the time to share your comments, and we’re very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay overall. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

"Hidden gem, few steps and you are on the Llangollen canal towpath over the aqueduct and into Wales, head the other direction and you walk along the towpath in England."
An easy walk into Chirk, with a quality butcher, greengrocers, bakery, gift shops, eateries and pubs. Amazing walks and places to visit and a castle on your doorstep what else do you need? A must is the British Ironworks in Shropshire, Ellesmere and Lake Vyrnwy. Don’t forget your head torch if you are late back from the pub or walk through the tunnel. Saving the best bit to last the cottage was so inviting, homely and comfortable everything you could wish for your stay. Enjoy your stay I certainly did!
Thanks for the feedback Georgina - I’m glad you had a great time and enjoyed the local area. Hopefully see you back again soon.

"3rd time at cottage, first under new ownership."
Ideal location next to canal and short stroll from aqueduct. Handy for visiting local area. Very comfortable and well equipped. Directions not as good as previously provided, following signs to Chirk Aqueduct would take you to the wrong part of canal if followed. Will definitely book again.
Thanks for the feedback Deborah, I’m so glad you enjoyed the cottage and the local area. Thanks for letting me know, I will make sure the directions are clearer.

"This is a wonderful place to stay, with a perfect location on the canal, perfect for kayaking, walking, or just watching the narrowboats go past."
The cottage is beautiful and extremely comfortable, with every detail being so thoughtfully designed. The welcome basket on arrival was a lovely touch. We will definitely be back and can't recommend it highly enough. The owner was extremely kind and helpful too.

"Lovely cottage with good facilities."
Very welcoming with fresh flowers and drinks/snacks. Nice position by the canal - interesting to watch the boats go by - and a good spot to explore the area.
Watch the satnav - ours took us to the wrong side of the canal!
Thanks for the feedback Jon. I’m so glad you had a nice time.
