  • "We have just spent the weekend here celebrating my husbands 30th with our family and it was amazing, the house is beautiful and clean, the beds are so comfy there is nothing I could complain about."

There is so much to do and the children loved seeing the sheep.

  • "An absolutely beautiful house in an amazing setting."

We loved the kitchen, living space and bedrooms and all agreed the beds were super comfy. The gardens were fabulous and our Cockapoo, Toffee, loved the freedom. The kitchen alcove seating was wonderful and provided many fun meals for all the family. The games room was fun, as was the gym which our daughter enjoyed. We felt the cleaning of some areas could be better. There were a lot of cobwebs in corners and some bedroom drawers were not as clean as they could be. The kitchen needed more utensils; there was no colander or large sieve. The wine glasses were plentiful but no pint glasses and not enough. The en suite shower was not very strong and temperature impossible to regulate, so a little hot. Beautifully presented though with handy alcove for shower gels etc. The family bathroom was beautiful and efficient. It was such a shame that the doors in the living room and dining room could not be opened and looked as if they had been fixed shut. Open they would have provided a beautiful access to the garden. The garden seating was great, together with the inbuilt fire pit. It would be nice to have another table and chairs outside the house in the garden for the less mobile and to enjoy the view. The sheep in the garden were a delight. Such a wonderful house that just needs some general maintenance . However we would return in a heartbeat to this fabulous house in this beautiful part of the country. Thank you.

  • "The house was absolute beautiful with a quality feel whilst being comfortable!"

We all had an amazing time. There was 11 of us, there was lots of room for us all and our teenagers loved the games room. We didn’t even use the large dining room as it wasn’t needed. There was only one issue for us and that was no fence for the garden. We had a dog who has a natural herding instinct. He was very well behaved but we took a long line lead with us so he still had a little bit of freedom but we couldn’t truly relax knowing the sheep was in the other field. We did have an issue with not being able to turn the cooker on, we contacted the owners who were there within minutes and showed us how to work it, told us about the local pub and was available via text/ phone for a few non urgent queries. The wood burning Hot tub was great and easy to use and the wood was replenished when we asked (bit of feedback- could have a few seats around the hot tub area) Richmond town was a short drive away. We also had a 20 minute walk down the bridal path to the local pub (which is dog friendly) and the locals were very welcoming. In a nutshell We would definitely return and had some amazing quality family time together in a beautiful environment. Thank you!

  • "Lovely property and location."

Plenty of things to do and the gym and games room kept the kids (and adults) entertained. Very friendly owners who were on hand to help with any queries. Recommend a walk across to the George in Piercebridge. Allow 2hrs with kids.

  • "This is a stunning property in an absolutely beautiful, peaceful location."

Each room is beautifully furnished and made to feel very homely. The outdoor space is also lovely. There are only minor things that would have made our stay even more enjoyable: -hand wash in every bathroom/toilet rather than just one for the entire house. -some guidance on the hot tub i.e how long it would take to heat -spare gas canister for the outdoor table top fire (it ran out 2 minutes after we fired it up!!) Otherwise a wonderful stay, would definitely recommend.

Barton has a lovely village green, a stream winding its way through the village, a pub, a shop and a Post Office. Nearby Piercebridge is renowned for its Roman heritage, which dates back to around 70 AD. The Piercebridge Roman Fort Site, a recognised ancient monument, forms part of the region’s Dere Street Roman Trail, a celebration of the rich Roman heritage still to be enjoyed in the area. Forming part of the Teesdale Way, and within easy reach of the Cleveland Way, this walker’s paradise provides an excellent base to explore this delightful Dales area including nearby Swaledale and Weardale, with many bridleways, footpaths, cycle trails and lovely riverside walks available. Local attractions include the magnificent Raby Castle in nearby Staindrop, the Bowes Museum, York’s National Railway Museum, Durham Cathedral and of course the delightful market town of Barnard Castle. Nearby Richmond grew up around its castle set high above the River Swale, with panoramic river views. Within Richmond, narrow streets and alleys radiate from the cobbled market place (which has a weekly market and monthly farmers’ market) and there are numerous shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. The Georgian Theatre is one of the oldest surviving theatres in the country with visitors enjoying its regular productions all year round.
