  • "The interior is very dated"

  • "We booked Seacliff cottage hoping that the reviews were overly harsh."

The location is excellent near to the beach and facilities of Sandsend. The house itself is terribly dated and in desperate need of upgrading. It really needs new furniture and the beds are like sleeping on cardboard, even the towels are practically threadbare. You get what you pay for does not hold true in this instance as we paid a lot of money to stay there. Sorry to moan but i wouldn’t stay there again.

  • "Had trouble with lack heating and hot water."

No details of how to operate tv and dvd, never worked out how to use dvd. A laminated list would work as it could easily be wipe down. Furniture very dated especially in the bedrooms. No double glazing window locks iffy. I wish I had been more thorough reading passed comments before I booked With a little TLC it would be lovely, the garden and position in Sandsend are good. Disappointed especially for the price I paid.

  • "Having seen the previous negative feedback regarding poor cleanliness of the cottage and how cold it was, just a few days before travelling, I was very anxious about going to stay there, especially in the current climate."

I tried to call the office for reassurance but just got passed from operator to operator and gave up in the end. However, on arrival we found it to be clean, and warm and cozy. We were able to control the temperature using the control on the wall. We had a lovely week there. Parking for two vehicles is tight, and yes, it does require a bit of tlc but there are plenty of nice things about it.

  • "Sheets were dirty and kitchen floor was not clean."

Freezer door is rusting. Some evenings were cold, not able to access heating as no control. Very disappointed with our stay in this cottage.

  • "Location of cottage 9/10 and the enclosed garden perfect for our dogs."

Cottage was well equipped, however in desperate need of renovation and a good clean! I would expect double glazing for the money but instead got very draughty windows and front door. Cobwebs and dust, so i had to clean on arrival. Bathroom screen very mouldy. Paint applied to rotting window frames and where tiles had been removed in downstairs loo, walls painted over instead of being skimmed first. Didn't feel this cottage met Sykes usual standards and very disappointed despite the sea view!

  • "Terrible stay in the dirtiest cottage I have been in."

Customer contact was good whilst we were there but did not sort the issues. Been home two days now and still awaiting a call. The house had a great location and was a wonderful layout with beautiful garden. Unfortunately the whole place was dirty. Stained sheets, cobwebs all over, mould in the fridge, dirty light switches, tables and blinds! Has it not been for the rest of our family staying in two other cottages we would have left in the first day! Disgusting! The toilet seat needs fixing, the step out to the garden is a health hazard as it is rotting, the front door needs a draft excluder as wind howls through it and the bathroom needs re sealing as there is a lot of mould on the sealant! All in all I would never stay here again and am shocked that you list this place in your site as a 4 tick cottage!!

  • "We have stayed in sandsend several times before and our stay in this property has been our most enjoyable by far!"

The location is perfect for toddlers and aging dogs a stone's throw from the beach The enclosed sizeable garden was a real bonus and the views from almost all windows stunning! We took our own travel cot but didn't need to as there was one there plus what looked like a brand new high chair ! We found all the home comforts we needed and will definitely be booking again !

  • "We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Seacliff."

The location of the cottage was absolutely perfect for us. The beach is just down the hill and across the road. Sandsend is a beautiful little coastal village with cafes, a pub and a bistro, all of which I would recommend. The property was clean and spacious, we especially appreciated the enclosed garden, the utility room and it was well equipped with technology and benefitted from a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. I would say the only negative comments we have about this property is the comfort of the furniture, the living room is a cosy room with plenty of chairs/sofa to chose from but unfortunately none of which are comfy to sit on, it would benefit from fewer chairs and 2 comfy sofas. The bedrooms were also spacious but both the double and the twin room that we used had very hard mattresses and this meant both my husband and I had 4 nights of terrible sleep. I would not hesitate to rebook this property if the furniture was updated slightly.

  • "Welcome pack was fantastic thank you!"

Nice to have a truly dog proof garden so able to relax when they are out there. Fantastic being so close to the beach, the dogs loved it and it wore them out. Lovely to have views of the sea from the front windows and whilst lying in bed.
