  • "Disappointing."

On first arrival it looked clean and tidy but had to speak with the landlords as we could not get the tv to work (no major drama but you still expected it to work !), it appears there was a power cut the night before and the connection hadn't been checked prior to our arrival. Then noticed the toilet in the bathroom with bath was leaking, spoke with landlords again and was fixed but not completely so a cloth was left and was told would be dealt with after our departure. The comment "there is a space near the eaves between the two rooms which results in some limited noise transference, which may not suit light sleepers." means there is no wall whatsoever for about 4ft between rooms so EVERYTHING can be heard between rooms and the light trans was really bad. I'd personally replace the office type blinds with something more subtantial/suitable. The shower is very small (as somebody else has mentioned) but needs a shower caddy or corner shelf to put gel, shampoo etc so you don't constantly have to bend down in a confined space. Finally, and this is the main reason for our disappointment, the close proximity to the railway line into York, approx 800m from cottage. There are constant passenger and freight trains passing (every 5 - 6 mins) and because the cottage is also near a tunnel the trains honk their horns on approach. Had we known this I would not have booked this place and nothing is mentioned in the write up of the accom about the train line.

  • "Nice property but the shower was a bit cramped, the bedroom wall configeration allowed too much light into the bedroom."

As we were there in mid summer the lack of any cooling fans was a great miss.
