  • "Quite an old semi up a very narrow lane."

Possible to hear next door tv. Need to keep in confines of specific parking bay outside front of property so as not to upset neighbour. Garden secure for your dog. Beds comfortable. Good selection of pots and pans and kitchen utensils. Downstairs shower is mains and excellent, upstairs is electric and a bit leaky around the hose connection. Central heating system is a little bizarre, apparently controlled remotely by the owner; for us as a retired couple it would have been better to be able to exercise some choice and control ourselves. Leyburn is a great base to explore the Dales and the scenery is breathtaking. Good walks. Plenty of pubs and places to eat.

Delighted you appeared to enjoy many aspects of Daisy cottage. The neighbours are very friendly but quite understandably prefer guests not to park on their driveway. It’s a pity you didn’t make use of the excellent log burner with two baskets of logs for your weekend stay as this also ensures visitors have a warm and cosy time. We hope you’ll return to the Dales to enjoy future walks. Property Owner

Heating being remote was not good came on at odd times and towel heater and fan not working upstairs in bathroom. Mould behind toilet in upstairs bathroom needs replacing. Can hear everything that goes on next door. Mattress/pillow protectors need replacing every time someone new comes in. Bad damp smell in back porch. It was Clean at least that was a plus. Wardrobe space wasn’t big enough(locked wardrobes!!!)Access in wasn’t good and needs more explaining on website. I’ve put all things I picked up in visitors book. We wouldn’t stay here again but we wish you luck.

I was sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay at Daisy cottage. All laundry is professionally cleaned and we have never had any complaints. The locked wardrobe is actually a water tank cupboard. There is a double wardrobe and further hanging space in the second bedroom. The bathroom fan works when it is switched on and the towel rail is linked to the heating which can be increased manually. There is a lovely elderly couple living next door and we’ve never had complaints of noise. Feedback from the last guest mentioned how nice the porch was to sit in. I just hope you enjoy your stay in other properties. Property Owner

It was a great base for exploring the beautiful countryside and the great weather helped too! The delapidated cars along the track weren't the best sight on approaching the cottage but they weren't a surprise as we had read previous reviews. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

Delighted you enjoyed your stay. The Reliant Robins, treasured by our elderly neighbour are certainly not the best feature but she does love them and they represent fond memories for her hence her reluctance to part with them. • "Lovely cottage in an excellent location."

A short walk to all the local shops and on the main routes to the rest of the dales. Good facilities throughout the cottage and the 2 toilets were extremely handy. Lovely enclosed gardens that we and the dogs enjoyed. The welcome pack was great too. The only downside for us was the electric heating which was remotely controlled. It was supposed to come on in the morning and in the afternoon/evening but it didn’t. It did come on for less than an hour on a couple of occasions but that was that. Consequently the bedroom and bathroom were cold the whole time. Fortunately the log burner kept the downstairs warm. We ended up buying 4 extra bags.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed Daisy cottage and feel it is a pity you did not let us know of your heating concerns. The heating is set remotely but guests can increase or decrease the temperature by a few degrees. The heating is thermostatically controlled so if the room is already up to temperature the heating will not come on. Equally if the windows are opened the heating automatically pauses so that energy is not wasted. Having looked at the record for the week of your stay the temperature upstairs varied between 18 and 24 degrees whilst downstairs ranged from 19 to 25 degrees. We are sorry you did not find this comfortable. Property Owner

It is so clean, comfortable, cosy and welcoming. Despite the February weather we really enjoyed our short break, popping out for short walks and to sample the delights of Leyburn and then returning to the cottage to get cosy in front of the fire. The garden was perfect for the dogs, safe & secure. The only downside was the slightly tricky parking, if we'd had a bigger car it would have been difficult to get the car down the track and to park considerately and we didn't feel this was very clear in the details given to us.

Many thanks for your feedback. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay at Daisy cottage and as it states in the description the parking is for one small or medium sized vehicle. Our own VW camper negotiates the short track to the cottage and the free parking in Grove square is less than a couple of minutes walk away. Many thanks Property Owner

No comfortable seating in very small lounge. Kitchen equipment very modern and clean. Beds uncomfortable. Drive up very narrow Lane and littered with rusty old cars. One very small parking space. Not ideal.

We were disappointed to note your comments about Daisy cottage as others have so enjoyed their stay. We appreciate that 4 adults and 2 dogs require space but the lounge is a generous 12 feet square. The short lane (approximately 25m) that leads directly to the bustling centre of Leyburn has 3 old Reliant Robins owned by a widowed neighbour who unfortunately refuses to move them as they hold fond memories of her husband who was an enthusiast. We advertise parking for one small car, (the space is large enough for us to park our VW van) but there is also additional overnight free parking at the end of the lane. The private parking feature is a benefit because this is a scarce commodity in the centre of Leyburn. Property Owner

  • "The owner mentioned building work next door and there was a previous review online complaining about the early noise and the owner responded saying they spoke to the builder etc."

We were out early most days hiking so it didn’t bother us except the last two days. The builder started at 06:10! They were using a circular saw at 06:30! Utterly ridiculous and unreasonable. Generally the cottage is lovely, great location and modern decor and we would stay again if the owner changed the mattress in the back bedroom. We fed back to the housekeeper during our stay and I see previous guests had moaned in the guest book in the cottage about it as well! We were advised it was new in March. It’s a very soft squishy Emma Mattress. It’s already gone past it’s best and when you lie on it your feet are higher than your head! We had to sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed. Add extra plump pillows (no option for a flatter pillow) and a winter duvet, in the summer, it made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. Such a shame because apart from the bed and builder everything was great.

We were sorry Mrs Kemp experienced disruption from the house being built next door. Having again liaised this with the builder, his response was 'I've been the first one on site ever day and no one starts before 7:30am and there is no music or power tools before 8am'. The next door neighbour also confirmed that their experience matches the builder's feedback. Consequently, we are at a loss to explain their early morning noise levels. The two large beds in the cottage have deliberately different mattresses to give more choice as we find some guests prefer harder or softer mattresses. The Emma mattress also has a topper to provide further comfort. The guest was twice offered a lighter duvet when they highlighted their preference but declined to respond to this offer. The existing duvet is an all year round tog and not a winter weight. We were disappointed these issues detracted from the positive aspects of their stay. Property Owner

For meals out while you are in the area, try the numerous cafes or perhaps one of the many pubs including The Bolton Arms, a traditional Yorkshire pub serving locally sourced ingredients in their meals and of course a delicious Sunday roast or venture further into the town to The Sandpiper Inn for a unique dining experience in a classically Yorkshire setting.

Further afield, less than 10 miles away, are the award winning restarants of The Blue Lion at East Witton and The Wensleydale Heiffer at West Witton.

For the animal lovers of the group, Big Sheep Little Cow is a scenic drive away, where you can hold and feed the adorable farm animals for a true taste of the Yorkshire lifestyle.
