  • "Excellent value , Great landlord, A very comfortable stay in this central cottage."

Place is kept to a very high standard, is warm and well equipped. Would definitely recommend.

  • "The cottage is in a great location, in the old town with both South Bay and North Bay within a few minutes walk."

The indoor market is on the corner and the main shopping area is the other side of the market. We took our border collie dog and she had a great time. The yard is totally secure so she could nip out whenever she needed and she loved it when we took her to the beach.

  • "Visited off season in February."

Well located in Scarborough Old Town either for walking to sea front and harbour, or start of shopping area from Old Market. Traditional old building. Shabby chic but extremely comfortable. Owner very attentive and helpful. Will always look for any availability at this property whenever in Scarbro.

  • "Tinsley Cottage had everything we needed to enjoy a comfortable 7 nights stay."

It is situated right in the middle of Town Centre and 5 mins from south beach, pier, arcades, donkey rides and much more. This is about our 4th stay here and we will be back again. Thank you to our lovely host Peter who would be there within a few mins if we had any issues - but we didn't! Other members of my family have also stayed here at different times to us.

There is room. Cottage has everything you could want and is in a great location but climb to Third floor was a bit too much. Host was most helpful on arrival. Keith Paddock Stayed 24th - 28th December

Excellent facilities and excellent location for all amenities including the "Beach" which my dogs absolutely loved!! The Cottage is so comfortable, warm and well equipped. Peter is always available should any problems arise which I must say didn't happen!! Would recommend to anyone who is able to manage the stairs which there are a lot of!! Thank you Peter and of course Sykes Cottages for handling my booking. See you in Scarborough again early 2022. Beth, Nick, Jakey & Harry

  • "Lovely cottage/house in the Old Town."

Handy for the town, South Beach and local Market just at the top of the street. The Landlord is very helpful. Stairs can be a bit tricky if have small children or mobility issues but it is a old town house so to be expected. Had a lovely time and its a lovely warm base for your holidays.

Quirky with plenty of bedrooms a few stairs which I didn’t mind got my steps in but three bathrooms a bonus and comfy beds and very clean. Fabulous holiday ❤️

  • "Absolutely charming cottage in the Old Town part of beautiful Scarborough - just a few minutes to the beach and steps from the lovely, refurbished Market and the town centre (M&S just three minutes' walk away and the famous Cooplands is even closer)."

The house is set over 4 floors with a toilet/shower room for each of the three lovely bedrooms (with each having a TV as well) The back yard was perfect for a morning coffee in the sun and absolutely ideal for the dog as it's completely secure. It will be even lovelier once the plants/pots have matured. Peter, the host, was super friendly and really accommodating with our ever-changing arrival time. The house had everything we needed, the beds were comfy, it was spotlessly clean and the wifi pretty decent. Parking can be a little tricky - as it is in most town centres - particularly in the quaint parts - but we were never more than a minute's walk from the house to the car and Peter furnished us with a really useful parking permit. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to be super central, close to the Castle and the South Bay and in a great, old cottage with oodles of charm.

  • "Had a fantastic week away, Pete is really friendly and lives locally, we had a problem with the boiler and he was there within 10 mins and all sorted."

The bedding, showers and kitchen area all very clean and a few essentials left for use. Very handy and large secure yard for dogs. Parking permit provided although parking is a bit limited, this wasn’t a problem for us and we expected this with its proximity to everything but Pete does his best to try and save a space as close as possible (he parks his vehicle and moves it for your arrival whenever he can). The sofas in the lounge have been changed and are okay and, yes, the staircase is narrow and winding so care is to be taken - it is an old house after all. Cosy, quirky, great location for everything and excellent host - thanks Pete - we hope to be back - maybe to try your other property a few doors away when it’s ready!

  • "Had to book very last minute due to COVID-19 problems."

Very surprised to get a week in August but very glad we did. Met by Peter at the door (who had saved us a parking spot near the front door) and given a comprehensive run down on the property. Very obliging and couldn’t do enough for us including assurances that any problems would be sorted out immediately. Very comfortable, including changing the furniture following a bad review from a previous tenant, for which we got a bottle of bubbly and truffles which was very unexpected but much appreciated. Bedrooms on 3 floors which require a degree of agility but each has an en suite facility. Excellent holiday aided by brilliant weather and an excellent landlord. Highly recommended.

  • "Lovely quirky narrow cottage (over 4 floors) with a large garden area to rear for those sunny days."

It is centrally located in Town Centre for all amenities - pubs, restaurants, cafes, south bay, amusement arcades, harbour, south cliff, 10-15 mins down hill walk from Scarborough train station; and within walking distance to north bay and Peasholm Park, we even walked around the marine drive to Scalby Mills which is a good long walk! Very close to indoor Public Market, which we used everyday. Owner of cottage (Peter) was lovely and very accommodating. Settees in living room were only let down - small, hard and uncomfortable but we would definitely book it again.

The only suggestion we would make would be to review the settees in the lounge area as they were not the comfiest to sit on for any period of time. Very quirky cottage and we had a great time. Would definitely book again.

  • "Very central location which can be quite noisy when you are trying to get to sleep."

The front door opens straight into the small living room which has very uncomfortable furniture. This property really should come with a warning about the very very steep spiral stairs. The house is very well equipped (a washing line to use after the washer would be nice). The best part of this house is the three bedrooms all have a toilet and shower which saves loads of time on a morning or when you are getting ready to go out on a night time. The market is a few doors from the house which includes a lovely butchers, baker and fresh fruit and veg. The shops, pubs and beach are all within a five minute walk.
