It was equipped with everything we could have needed, was in a lovely location and really comfortable. Cliff also left a very generous welcome basket. We especially enjoyed the big LED-lit floating bed, the fabulous hottub, the heated floor and, the best part by far was the visit to see barn ful of newly hatched chicks. It was the highlight of the stay for the kids.

  • "The Barn is absolutely gorgeous."

The pictures do not do it justice. It has everything you need with a well equipped kitchen. It was like home from home. The bed is soooooo comfy. Probably the most comfiest bed we have ever slept in with the added bonus of waking up to a lovely view. The downstairs underfloor heating was just heavenly, just what you need coming in from the hot tub and cold. Cliff the host was amazing; just couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was the best it could be, even cutting short his Christmas dinner to sort out the hot tub. Being a big lover of all animals, I enjoyed popping round to the shed to see the goats and Rheas, and fussing Maxwell, Cliffs dog . The hot tub just put the icing on the cake; it in a great setting with views over the field...what more can you ask for? Overall we had a great stay and will definitely be back for another visit..

  • "As always Sykes delivered exactly as described , which is why I've put "met expectations" , as a high standard of accommodation is always delivered."

The barn is just spot on, exceptionally clean, comfortable, plenty of pots and crockery to facilitate self catering , the bed is very comfortable, bathroom huge, and then the added bonus of the hot tub under cover, what more could you ask for, except maybe a lovely welcome pack with wine chocolates, biscuits etc........which there was one waiting for us! Clifford is very friendly and welcoming and full of information about local places to visit, and his side kick Maxwell was always very pleased to see people. We had fun feeding the goats, llamas and rhea's. The barn is ideally situated 1.5 mile away from the town of Northallerton, where there is everything you could wish for, shops bars and cafes, The Garthway cafe, is well worth a visit for a cup of tea and scone. The barn is also ideally located for visiting other places of interest nearby, such as Thirsk, Richmond ,Whitby and lovely walks from Kilburn. I would recommend The Barn to anyone as I cant imagine why anyone would not be happy spending time there and meeting Clifford and Maxwell.

It is a working farm, but we barely heard a peep! Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Games available in the house, loads of pamphlets and information in every last thing in and around the entire of yorkshire - incredible. Well stocked kitchen, such a lovely welcome basket too! The house was absolutely spotless clean, always warm, so spacious and comfortable. I have never enjoyed a stay like this one - already planning my next visit for 5 months time, cannot wait! The hot tub is beautiful, huge, prepped and ready for your arrival, every need is catered for so well. Thank you so much, Cliff! You are, by far, the best host we have ever had!!! Absolutely incredible place, so peaceful and in such a lovely location. The town (Northallerton) is a matter of minutes away, with so many shops and supermarkets and everything you could ever need!! Not too close but not too far from anything you want! Cannot wait to return, 5 stars isn't nearly enough!!!

  • "The Barn was better than I imagined."

It was clean, tidy, comfortable and had great facilities. It is around an hour's drive from a lot of great stuff in North Yorkshire. The hot tub wasn't the reason we chose this cottage but it was a great addition. We spent most evenings in it, with a cold drink. The kids absolutely loved it. We only had two issues with the Barn. One was an issue with the hot water, and as soon as Cliff was made aware of it he arranged for it to be sorted and offered us discounted tickets to the Forbidden Corner by way of an apology. The second was that there wasn't really anywhere to dry clothes. A whirlygig would really make all the difference. These are, though, minor issues and wouldn't stop us going back to the Barn. We absolutely would go back there again, and highly recommend it. We went to Flamingo Land, Eden Camp and Scarborough (twice). Darlington is half an hour up the road and offered cinemas, shopping and places to go and eat. We went to Whitby but were not all that impressed with it. We mixed a lot in to our week away. I honestly feel that after a week, there was still a lot we didn't have time to see.

  • "The Barn is handily located on the outskirts of Northallerton, set back from the main road the only noise disturbance is bird song!"

! Northallerton is so well located for other local towns & North Yorkshire’s beautiful villages! Of the ‘things to do’ Kiplin Hall is well worth a visit, however The Forbidden Corner whilst excellent for kids is disappointing for us concession ticket qualifiers who would have benefited from ‘concession maps’ NOT available! We only got to see half of it, we were glad to escape. On a positive note lovely shops in Northallerton, Thirsk, Richmond. Do visit Bedale, Sutton Bank& more.

  • "Had a wonderful holiday , the cottage was very cosy and had the wow factor."

The welcome basket was unexpected but such a nice surprise and I must say very generous. The owner ( sorry I forgot his name ) was very friendly and happy to give tips on all things local and if there were any problems he would be there to help , which is all you can ask. On clear days the sunrises and sunsets were spectacular ( especially the sunrises which could be seen straight out the bedroom window) . Northallerton was just over a mile down the road and had a lot of diverse shops to wander through, also a market on Saturdays and Wednesdays , you could park in Tesco free for 2 hours or there’s a private car park for all day parking for between £1:50 and £2 ( Saturday). Northallerton is in a perfect spot for visiting numerous places we enjoyed visiting Bedale , Richmond, Ripon and Thirsk. So I would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday let .

It’s amazing! I’m a really really demanding customer who spends forever to find the perfect place to stay! This place was perfect! The pictures do not do it justice at all. They are all accurate, but I don’t think they quiet capture just how nice this place is. It was much larger then we expected! The facilities are unreal! There is everything you could wish for in the kitchen! The cupboards are stocked full of games and DVD’s. The furnishings are very high spec and the bedding is stunning! All top quality! This was a very last minute booking and the place was immaculate and spotless! We even had a very generous welcome hamper, consisting of a bottle of Cava, a jar of coffee, some delicious biscuits and a large back of Tyrell’s potatoes chips! The hot tub was immaculate wand nicely bubbling away when we arrived! It’s great to use on a cold winters night. The views are stunning and their is so much todo within a short driving distance. Takeaways will easily deliver, or there is a Tesco Supermarket only 5 mins drive away! There are also some beautiful restaurants and pubs in Northallerton 5 mins away on the high street which is really cute and quaint. We would tell everyone to book this place, but I do hope it’s availabile for us to return as often as we would like! You are going to be delighted if you stay here!

Well equipped with lots of games and DVDs and everything you need. Lots of little touches like apple chargers etc that were available if needed. An unexpected welcome pack was provided - biscuits, cakes, chocolate, wine etc which was a nice surprise. The "disco hot tub" was great - equipped with music and lights. Friendly owner who ensured we had everything we needed and gave us advice on places to visit. Even gave us some free tickets for Flamingo Land that he had so we had a free day out. Love the animals on the farm - Llamas, Rheas and the dogs. Maxwell the dog came bounding towards us every time we returned back to the cottage wanting a cuddle. Would definitely recommend this cottage especially if you have children,
