    We found the cottage to be very comfortable, well equipped and centrally located to access Whitby. The welcome pack with the inclusion of flowers and wine felt very welcoming and personal. A lovely touch

    Pack was superb.the cottage was clean and comfortable,we enjoyed sitting in the garden watching the trains would love to come back.

    The cottage was lovely and comfortable. The welcome pack was welcomed as we hadn’t been shopping yet and we were able to make a cuppa and eat the delicious biscuits (which we bought more to take home). We enjoyed the wine which was left for us in the back garden. My husband likes heritage trains and was not disappointed as the cottage was by the railway tracks. The town centre was a 5 min walk from the cottage and having a parking space was a bonus.

    In a great location within walking distance of the town and harbour. We didn't use the car much. The only thing missing was the steam engine due to Bridge 42 being out of action at Grosmont We are looking forward to returning again.

  • "Lovely week at Rails End."

    The cottage was spotless with everything you need if you decide to cook. Flowers, milk, wine and nibbles plus tea , coffee and sugar also available so you could enjoy a well earned drink after your journey. Great to have a parking space outside the cottage as parking in Whitby is very difficult. Lovely garden with table chairs etc so you can enjoy the sunshine. Only downside was the lack of steam trains due to a bridge being repaired at Grosmont so trains were unable to run to Whitby. Really enjoyed our holiday and already booked for 2027.

Rails End is a characterful reverse-level, mid-terrace cottage set near the banks of the River Esk in historic Whitby, within the North York Moors, enjoying views over the railway and towards the harbour.
